Hasselbeck Palin

At a Sarah Palin rally in Tampa, Florida today, "The View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck slammed media coverage of the $150,000 in Republican National Committee expenditures on high-end clothing for Palin.

"Now, with everything going on in the world, seems a bit odd," Hasselbeck said. "But let me tell you, this is deliberately sexist."

In a moment of unintended irony, an audience member cat-called Hasselbeck with a whistle in the seconds after she made the comment.

Hasselbeck, describing herself as "sassy," then added that she was "most impressed by her accessories," including an American flag pin in honor of Palin's son, Track, who recently deployed to Iraq. "They didn't list that accessory... because they know it's priceless."

In her introduction of Palin, Hasselbeck also cited Palin's support of equal pay for equal work, despite her and John McCain's opposition to the recent Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which sought to counteract a Supreme Court decision limiting how long workers can wait before suing for pay discrimination.

In her recent interview with CBS News' Katie Couric, Palin explained her reasoning:

Palin: I'm absolutely for equal pay for equal work. The Ledbetter pay act - it was gonna turn into a boon for trial lawyers who, I believe, could have taken advantage of women who were many, many years ago who would allege some kind of discrimination. Thankfully, there are laws on the books, there have been since 1963, that no woman could be discriminated against in the workplace in terms of anything, but especially in terms of pay. So, thankfully we have the laws on the books and they better be enforced.

Couric: The Ledbetter act sort of lengthens the time a woman can sue her company if she's not getting equal pay for equal work. Why should a fear of lawsuits trump a woman's ability to do something about the fact that women make 77 cents for every dollar a man makes. And that's today.

Palin: There should be no fear of a lawsuit prohibiting a woman from making sure that the laws that are on the books today are enforced. I know in a McCain-Palin administration we will not stand for any measure that would result in a woman being paid less than a man for equal work.

Couric: Why shouldn't the Ledbetter act be in place? You think it would result in lawsuits brought by women years and years ago. Is that your main problem with it?

Palin: It would have turned into a boon for trial lawyers. Again, thankfully with the existing laws we have on the books, they better be enforced. We won't stand for anything but that. We won't stand for any discrimination in the workplace - that there isn't any discrimination in America.

Anyone curious why the name "Hasselbeck" sounds a lot like "hassle my back?" She is one of the most cattiest TV personalities I've seen. She also appears to be lacking in insight and information upstairs.

EH is a vapid bleached blond. She parrots those with whom she wants to be included. She sounds like the girl who wants to be with the popular clic. She thinks it's sexist of the media to make a big deal about Palin's clothes. Isn't it sexist of EH to only mention the lost daughters and not the sons when she referred to Palin's abortion stance? (Not that I agree with her abortion policy to begin with. She told the crowd she couldn't help her sassiness. How can you put sassy and abortion in the same speech? She's like those loud mouth , bitchy girls from "Clueless" who think they are so hot no one else counts. If she were to disappear forever, she would be missed only the duration of one blink of an eye.

I love Palin and am so glad to see Elizabeth standing with her. Palin should be the one running for president. She has God on her side and that is all the we all need.

EH would be better off, as would the world, if she would go back to Survivor and eat a few more rats and worms.

I almost get physically ill listening to her. I do appreciate the fact that she is not afraid to speak up for what she believes - for which she should be admired - but her lack of objectivity and inability to have an original thought almost cancels that out.

The thing is, there are people in this country that do not see through the lies, that do not see the obvious lack of knowledge of politics from both women, that actually think that they can make coherent sentences in answers to question, and do not see how tired we are of hearing the words:

Maverick
Joe Six Pack
Hockey Mom

I think I'm going to throw up.... heheheheheheheh - can't stop laughing at this stuff..

Can't decided who is more of an airhead....Hasselbeck or Palin.....first Hasselbeck comes out, and brings up Palin's wardrobe, NEVER mentioning an issue we might be interested in to vote for her candidate....THEN, if that wasn't enough, Palin comes out and all but gives us directions to the store she purchased her jacket. Are we voting for Project Runway, or PRESIDENT?

Well the libs want to make the clothing purchase and issue. Are the conservatives not allowed to defend themselves? So stick to the issues for President unless you would like to uncover the voting fraud and games associated with the democratic party?

I didn't think so.....

ANNNNNNNNDDDDD the threats on here by the liberals if Obama loses? Who do some of you think you are? Threats of lawsuits, riots and revenge....all by libs not by conservatives.

Wow, this woman is truly delusional. She just does not get it.

Avoid the drama. Vote Obama. I have.

Hasselbeck's entire career is based on her appearance.

Anything sexist about that?

So Sarah believes that the true value of a law is whether it will create work for lawyers.

There was another Supreme Court ruling that created work for lawyers and that involved a guy named Miranda. We already know that she's against that one because it was part of her acceptance speech. We already know that, according to Sarah, criminal suspects should not have their rights read to them and the people that believe they do, like Barack Obama, are anti-American. Not patriotic, either.

Since that speech I've wondered. When her husband Todd was arrested for his DUI, did he have his Miranda rights read to him? Or did he say, Nah, you don't need to read them because I'm a patriotic American? How fast do you think his lawyer would have asked for his case to be dismissed if they hadn't.

Just how fast.

I had the TV on Saturday morning in Tampa when the local news started showing the Palin rally live. I heard the whining voice in the distance and ran to the TV to turn off Palin only to find that it EB talking. I sat and watched her in disbelief as she rambled on with the same tone and inflections as Palin does in her rants, I mean speeches.
Pausing, nodding and pursing her lips like just like Sarah does. Made me almost puke. I don't get how so many people are fooled or drawn into this. I have family members who love her and there is no talking to them about it. Do they only watch Fox news channel cuz every other news channel seems to get how stupid she comes across?

Energy expert? Are you effing kidding me? Someone wrote on this blog that it is just like saying that the Kings/Sheiks of all the mid-east oil countries are energy experts just because they happen to be sitting on oil fields.

The world is too complex for these two women- we should send them to school- grad school maybe.

I think both need to go to college, Palin went to five colleges to get a four year bachelors. Does EH have more than a 2 year degree in fashion?. Anyway neither are ready for grad school they need to go back to basics.

EH should lose her job on the View and bring down her income so that Obamas' plan will not effect her.

Does anyone else think that Barbara Walters must be secretly fuming over this? Not that I would ever call this ladies "journalists," but aren't the media, at least those that charge the big advertising bucks, supposed to be more objective? It's fine for that dim bulb to spout off on that TV estrogen fest, but I think Babwa should fire her for such a political PDA. Why don't she (E.) and Sarah Pale-in-Comparison to a real American Female, go ahead and start a pinhead sorority already?

Hasselbeck's active camapaiging WITH Palin draws the line. None of the other hosts or even newscasters actively campaign for a politician. You can have and even espouse your political beliefs, but this is too far.

WATCH THE VIEW THIS WEEK, NOTE THE SPONSORS, AND WRITE THEM THAT YOU WILL BE BOYCOTTING THEIR PRODUCTS.

THEN WRITE ABC TELLING THEM WHAT YOU'VE DONE.

If Hasselbeck wants to be such an active participant, she should find a full time job doing so.

Even OPRAH has refused to actively campaign for Obama during the General Election.

While your contacting the sponsors, let them know they are losing viewers every day for having someone like Whoopi spew bigotry and nasty accusations at people. Between she and Joy, many have tuned out rather than listen to their liberal hatred and in your face views.
