Hasselbeck Palin

At a Sarah Palin rally in Tampa, Florida today, "The View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck slammed media coverage of the $150,000 in Republican National Committee expenditures on high-end clothing for Palin.

"Now, with everything going on in the world, seems a bit odd," Hasselbeck said. "But let me tell you, this is deliberately sexist."

In a moment of unintended irony, an audience member cat-called Hasselbeck with a whistle in the seconds after she made the comment.

Hasselbeck, describing herself as "sassy," then added that she was "most impressed by her accessories," including an American flag pin in honor of Palin's son, Track, who recently deployed to Iraq. "They didn't list that accessory... because they know it's priceless."

In her introduction of Palin, Hasselbeck also cited Palin's support of equal pay for equal work, despite her and John McCain's opposition to the recent Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which sought to counteract a Supreme Court decision limiting how long workers can wait before suing for pay discrimination.

In her recent interview with CBS News' Katie Couric, Palin explained her reasoning:

Palin: I'm absolutely for equal pay for equal work. The Ledbetter pay act - it was gonna turn into a boon for trial lawyers who, I believe, could have taken advantage of women who were many, many years ago who would allege some kind of discrimination. Thankfully, there are laws on the books, there have been since 1963, that no woman could be discriminated against in the workplace in terms of anything, but especially in terms of pay. So, thankfully we have the laws on the books and they better be enforced.

Couric: The Ledbetter act sort of lengthens the time a woman can sue her company if she's not getting equal pay for equal work. Why should a fear of lawsuits trump a woman's ability to do something about the fact that women make 77 cents for every dollar a man makes. And that's today.

Palin: There should be no fear of a lawsuit prohibiting a woman from making sure that the laws that are on the books today are enforced. I know in a McCain-Palin administration we will not stand for any measure that would result in a woman being paid less than a man for equal work.

Couric: Why shouldn't the Ledbetter act be in place? You think it would result in lawsuits brought by women years and years ago. Is that your main problem with it?

Palin: It would have turned into a boon for trial lawyers. Again, thankfully with the existing laws we have on the books, they better be enforced. We won't stand for anything but that. We won't stand for any discrimination in the workplace - that there isn't any discrimination in America.

Palin is turning this whole election into nothing more than a Jerry Springer Show that never ends. Go ahead, Sarah. Keep bringing your base down with you. Invite your Survivor reality show stars to pal around with you on the campaign trail. Keep referencing political terms that you have no idea what they mean or stand for. I have news for you. There's a reason people don't talk about Jerry Springer anymore. Shock TV is over. It's yesterday. All you are doing now is holding a mirror up to an ever-dwindling Republican base that does not like what they see when you do. The country is moving onward and upward. Good luck in your future talk show career.

The entire GOP campaign is funny. They have spoke against Obama, while focusing on Ayers and Muslims. Staying away from the issues. However, when they receive heat for a similar "issue", it is not relevant. This is one of the reasons that I not voting for an independent, and will support Obama.

Elizabeth is tired of the View and is starving to be on SNL. Maybe she wants a spot on Fox News with Sean Hannity. I'm sure they have a spot dusted off for her. Maybe she wants a spot on Palin's VP team. Who knows! They deserve each other.

Hey! I watched the Palin's Florida rally, and wouldn't you know it, when Sarah came to the mic. she introduced her children but realized she didn't know where Trig was. During the debate, her young daughter held the baby while the Govenor of Florida and First Dude Todd stood in front of her. It was apparent that the young daughter was tired of holding the baby. Check it out.

Sad,
She told the First Dude something. "Dad, Please take YOUR child!!!"

Thanks Elizabeth for bringing this back to the attention of the Media, which had pretty much forgotten about it.

Palin took the bait and now claims she is going back to shopping at her favorite consignment shop in Alaska "Out of the Closet", after the election. I guess she doesn't expect to win and admitted it publicly. Oh yeah and by the way...she outed the consignment shop for illegally using the name "Out of the Closet" and now they're in legal trouble. OOPS!

That's what happens when you let two maverick bimbos loose.

"Sarah the Baracuda" ... Basketball in one hand and Gun in the other. Could hottie Sarah be so obtuse to the "gays " because shes in the closet herself? When a person denies and fights what they are, they tend to condem the very thing they fear the most.
... Obamas' message is "Hope Not Fear".

Is that a problem? I thought libs were not judgemental when it came to things like that. Hmmm....only when it suits their own agenda.

I understand the reasoning on The View to have a variety of opinions, but honestly the two times I have watched the show Elizabeth's high-pitched whine has turned me off. She is an idiot. If they need a conservative viewpoint, fine. But please, Barbara find someone else.

I'm sorry, but I gotta ask this one. When you observed Sarah Palin in her interview(s) with Katie Couric, did anyone beside me see Rod Serling standing off to the right, and hear the Twilight Zone series music playing and hear him say his line "you've now entered.. the Twilight zone.."????

Hahahahahahah, this is rich, I'll be laughing a long time about this stuff.... whew!!!

The flag pin has the wrong number of stripes and stars?

That is often an indication that it was made in China or some country other than the United States. Usually China though.

My question for Sarah Palin is why didn't she buy her clothes at a consignment store? I buy all my clothes at a consignment store because I can't afford department store prices and I'm a single mom. She commented that she buys her clothes at a consignment store only after the news came out about the RNC buying her the expensive outfits. I can't stand Elizabeth. She is such a dumb bunny. I agree, where is Joy Behar to shut this idiot up. I couldn't stand 4 years of Palin, her voice alone makes me cringe.

Who is this broad to be spokesman for anything - in a presidential/vice presidential campaign?

Some little Hollywood twit who looks good, and sounds good, to those who have no intelligence!

Sound and fury, signifying nothing................................

This is like watching cheerleaders. There's nothing of substance. "We're going to fight for you." "We're going to make things better." "We're going to create opportunity." "We're going to strengthen the economy." That's great, and thanks for the pep talk and all - but HOW???? Give me something to go on, give me particulars, give me information. I don't care that you've been in government for 26 years, mostly because things are pretty screwed up and worse than they've been since the 1930s, so that's not at ALL reassuring. Great, you've got conservative views - but we all know people's views change and are subject to a LOT of different scenarios. And you've changed your stances on things more than once. Which is fine, but if I had MORE "this is how I'm going to make things better for you" and less high-school-clique nasty commentary about your opponent, I'd have more to go on than if you look nice or you've been around awhile.

Yeah, Jealousy.. That's it.

I am so jealous of two women that in all of the things that they spout about the average american, that it is prudent to flaunt wealth in a time when people are struggling (I don't care if the RNC paid for it, it was the wrong thing to do) and then say it's not about that.

Then I'm jealous of a woman who when I read her statements above (responses to Katie Couric), they read just as confusing as her speech.. but then, it's what she said right?

Then I'm jealous of another woman who has no concept of what politics are all about, and can actually believe that it is a fair statement to say that when the facts are put on the table, that they are 'deliberately sexist'?

Yeah, I'm jealous.. gimme a break.

Yes you're right, we all strive to be brainless twits and are jealous that these two have reached the pinnacle of twitdom.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:23 PM on 10/27/2008

Jealous? No. Intrigued? Yes.

I am actually starting to feel sorry for Sarah. I think that she is probably a very smart woman - she was elected to Govenor after all. But I think that McCain...in trying to make sure she was protected from making him look bad until he was sure that she could handle enough questions to appear 'ready to lead'...by keeping her from the media, caused the media to latch on to what ever tidbit of info they could grab - made her look like a fool. I don't agree with one tidbit of her politics, but I am proud of her as a woman for making the strides that she has.

Elizabeth...has to be the most idoitic woman I have ever seen on television. I would watch The View more often if she wasn't on it. I don't mind that the show needs a conservative viewpoint. I understand and welcome that. But she is an uneducated, shrill excuse for the conservative viewpoint. Barbara, get rid of her and watch your ratings improve.
