Dozens Of Call Center Workers Quit Over McCain Attacks

At least three dozen workers at a telemarketing call center in Indiana walked off the job rather than read an incendiary McCain campaign script attacking Barack Obama, according to two workers at the center and one of their parents.

Nina Williams, a stay-at-home mom in Lake County, Indiana, tells us that her daughter recently called her from her job at the center, upset that she had been asked to read a script attacking Obama for being "dangerously weak on crime," "coddling criminals," and for voting against "protecting children from danger."

It takes a lot of courage to stand up for basic human dignity, especially in this economy. I am so impressed that this country is turning towards doing and feeling what is right in their hearts. I believe that Obama's failure to personnally attack his opponent, to take the high road, to show the people how to LIVE family values, and not just speak about them, is going to raise the consciousness of all of the people of the US and the world beyond. I remember thinking how mccain should run an honest and just campaign this year, standing on the same morals that really attracted me to him during his attempt in 2000. But most conservati­ves/republ­icans scoffed and said he would get creamed.

Well, look at what's happening, and at least he could have had his dignity.

And who knows, I can't imagine he could do worse than this. Every day it is something new and absolutely embarrassing to his campaign.

We have the same thing in Minnesota. State law requires all political calls to be made in person and not by machine. So someone called and started reading the script and I interrupted and said. Hey look I don't want to hear why John McCain thinks Barrack Obama is the anti-Christ, but I am interested in how John McCain is going to make health care affordable, or bring our troops home from Iraq, or make heating my home some what affordable. He said well I can't do that, I don't know where he stands. I said well are you a volunteer, he said no I'm just paid to read a script. I said where are you calling from he said Bemidji Minnesota. I said do you really believe what your telling me, he said...NO. But this is the best paying job in my small town and I have my daughter I have to take care of. I then told him what Obama's plans where to help make life a little easier for him and his daughter, and he said... maybe I'll have to vote for him.

Does McCain even go to church? I've NEVER heard of his attending one. I know Obama does (or did... probably on the hunt for a "home church" now, unless Rev. Wright really is retired). Obviously Palin does - although her type of church would probably scare the caca out of me. Biden is a Catholic. So, what is McCain?

I'm not offended if he DOESN'T go to church... I don't myself. But, I'm a true blue Democrat - who also welcomes church going Dems, as long as they welcome my agnostic self, along with my Jewish friends...­. and even my Muslim neighbors!

These young people can be proud of themselves. During this campaign I've become very aware and proud of a section of the popuation that we've heard very little about over the past few years. How wonderful it is to learn that all these people have integrity. Can you imagine how financially hurting someone must be to take a job as a paid political caller? I speak as someone who phone banks for Barack Obama as a volunteer because I BELIEVE in his candidacy. These poor folks were doing it because they needed the money, but they gave up this paying job because of their personal ethical standards.
