Kansas City Star:

A lull in the line of customers allows Carolyn Pendergraft to preach a spell from behind the glass-top counter at Dude's Donuts.

"God allows government to be set up ... to punish the bad people. OK? And if you (voters) let the bad people come in, they'll punish the good people." ...

You're in southwest Missouri, deeply religious and reliably Republican.

But if the proprietors and customers of Dude's speak to anything, it's to a longing for a candidate who stirs true passion.

Republican John McCain faces a challenge getting these voters out. He'll need their passion to counter Missouri's energized Democrats in urban areas.

I will believe Southwest MO going blue if and when i live that long. It is too full of rednecks and fundies to consider the thought. The author should have gone to Springfield. It is as red as anyplace on earth. Most of the SW population lives within 50 miles of Springfield.
If it happens, well great. But i would not bet a pizza on it.

Don't plan your parties until the election's signed, sealed, and delivered.

Republicans STILL OWN THE VOTING MACHINES in Ohio; reports on vote-flipping are coming in from all critical states where voting has opened.

GOP (That's Greed & Oil Party, I think) will have PAID AGENTS in all polling places to challenge Democratic votes.

TAKE ALL THE IDENTIFICATION YOU HAVE when you go to vote. If you're a registered Democrat, you may be challenged. One Repub judge didn't want to take my UNITED STATES PASSPORT as a valid ID! They wanted driver's licenses.

CALL YOUR LOCAL VOTE REGISTRAR AND DOUBLE-CHECK YOUR POLLING PLACE ADDRESS. (In Ohio, the Republicans changed some polling places twice before the 06 vote; mine was one of them).

WE ARE NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET, AND THERE ARE NASTY CRITTERS IN THE WOODS!

The quote and the story really don't tell me that GOP fervor is fading.
Missouri will be too close to call.

The role of government at least in our system is not set up to punish anyone, our democracy was set up to guarantee "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness", when this truth is narrowed to only a few, than what the founders intended has been lost.

Government is an institution invented by man, as is religion. Only men can disrespect both and in recent years Republicans used both dishonestly and if you vote against your own best interest and against the interest of others, God had little to do with it, only your own ignorance to blame.

My mother used to term “God’s will” to comfort me anytime something bad happened, but at the end of the day God’s will has little to do with, it’s about the choices you make, and there effect of others, the only thing you half to do is die and many times your own actions as well as others can determine that.

This is HUGE. This is the area of the old t3rr 0r group the CSA. If they are turning this ticket away, then they have a very large problem indeed.

The rethuglicans just don't get that this country is tired of their lies, smears, attacks, racism, divisiveness and sheer negativity. It's enough already! We are progressing and becoming more enlightened as a nation and want our candidates to reflect that. Barack does, mccain and palin DON"T!

Maybe people are owning up. It is fine to vote for big government, and you have to know that if you do this, you are going to be paying for it. The poor don't have the money and the rich will avoid paying in whatever ways they can. So eventually the middle class will be paying higher taxes for Obama's big bill. The people of this state must have decided it is a good tradeoff to pay a ton of taxes to support the Obama dream. If they want to spend their hard earned dollars that way, let them.

Hey ladies. If the RNC had gone with a male for V.P....since "looks" were a factor, if not the entire reason. Who would it have been?

The exception being Mitt Romney, if you go for the "Guy Smiley" look. I'm glad McCain didn't pick Romney though. It might have been much closer.
