I Like ItI Don’t Like It

CNN's Campbell Brown was Jon Stewart's guest last night on The Daily Show, where the two talked about the trail Brown's blazed for herself working the middle ground between Bill O'Reilly and Keith Olbermann as CNN's "No Bias, No Bullshit" anchor. Brown spoke of the "false equivalency" that's often practiced in journalism. "Our view is that when Candidate A says it's raining outside, and Candidate B says it's sunny, a journalist should be able to look outside and say, 'Well it's sunny, so one of these guys is wrong,'" she told Stewart. Brown and Stewart revisit a memorable example of this philosophy put into practice: Brown's on-air filleting of McCain flack Tucker Bounds. That incident apparently cost CNN's Larry King an interview with John McCain. But, then, that was before beating the snot out of Bounds on camera became the media's election year pastime.

Anyway, Campbell Brown's been doing some really great work (see links below) without receiving much fanfare, so one can only hope she stays on the path she's trod thus far.

At the top of the segment, Brown also confirmed the news that she is pregnant with her second child.

I like Campbell, but she isn't always fair. I did watch her kick the crap out of Tucker, now that was fun. But she can be out of bounds so to speak. The piece she did on Gov Palin saying she thought the McCain camp was treating her sexist, I didn't agree with. I just thought they were keeping her hidden because she just isn't ready for prime time. Other then that I haven't watched her too much.

Does not like fair and balanced,? so THAT"S why she had to base her entire show on Obama lying about taking public funding the night McCain was on Larry King. Sexist, says she about Palins' wardrobe. Spends the entire program on it. The story was about the 150,000 SPENT on clothes from DONATED money, not the clothes themselves.
Campbell Brown, what about the 1.300 Louis Vuitton bag bought for 7 year old Piper? THAT was for the photo opp of Piper DRAGGING it across the tarmac.
Using C.B logic THAT would be "sexist" too, after all poor little Piper IS female.
The name of her show? No Bias NO Bull, is ridiculous, she can't have any self respect using that.
"bull" is not worth the shock value. Why did her parents give her an education?

Do us ALL a favor and go back to your ignorant right-wing blogs so we don't have to read your worthless drivel.

Campbell Brown was right about Bounds and that chaffs your butt!

CB will not make it. Her Palin clothing "Cutting through the bull" bit was so off mark it questions her actual intelligence. She went off on the idea of sexism with this piece when the point of the public outrage was it's gross hypocrisy. Being the party of Joe six pack that would never spend 1/10th that on clothing in a year was the height of hypocrisy. And she went off on sexism. Nope. Sorry Campbell. I don't think you have the hops.

For me, Brown has been more than irritating lately. In one recent post, she advocated that candidate campaign money would be better spent on food banks. However, soon after (and against all the promises McCain has made and broken about running an honest and decent campaign), she runs a piece about Obama breaking his promise on election funding. Does it not make more sense to support the candidate whose concern for the poor will best insure ongoing assistance?

Brown needs to revisit that fact that to some extent, CNN's accomodation of Bush over the last 8 years has effected the resources now necessary to overcome the current right-wing spin. Sometimes, it seems like she pulls things out of thin air to try to maintain a "no bias" status. Suggesting that Sarah Palin let her inner diva run free is another case in point. Because truth of late actually has a liberal bias, this gets awkward for Brown. Also, it seems that she is in a personal quandry about sexism that gets played out over and over to the exclusion of more relevant current issues. (I am female, BTW.) Anyway, still searching for the best news out there.

I don't understand why you feel it is necessary to mention their sexual orientation. It is not relevant to the job they do.

I was disappointed and amazed to see that Campbell Brown and Jon Stewart, continue to perpetuate the misconception that Keith is comparable to BillO. sure they can both talk up a spirited rant,
but one of them has nothing to do with the reality of honorable journalism.
Keith not only gives me the truth, but actually demands it from himself and his guests, I think it's a big difference that alludes them both......
Love Jon no matter what, CNN??? not so sure about them any more.

I love Keith, but fair and balanced he aint. Not comparable to Hannity - who spews hate speech and lies, but a mirror image of O'Reilly. Give Keith a couple of decades and he will be the same curmudgeon as O'Really.

Jon Stewart was off his feed Monday and this segment with Brown showed it.

But Colbert was BRILLIANT. He eviscerated the Republicans in his Word section. And before.

His attacks were direct. He even called Frum an A-Hole. And Frum was a guest on his show last week.

That segmant of Colbert was some of the best poilitical commentary of the entire election.

So why is Campbell Brown headlined?

That didn't take long .... yesterday, a lot of posters were fawning over their new BFF, Campbell Brown, while a few of us were reminding them of the primaries and her "all Wright, all the time" attitude. Lo and behold, last night her commentary (which is just so cute that she's trying to be one of the big and reputable journalists) dealt with Obama lying about taking public financing. 7 days out and that's the best she can come up with?? There are almost as many lame and windbaggery hacks at CNN as there are at Fox these days.

Brown is not neutral. Like others in the media, she is trying to create news rather than reporrt on it. Her rant about Obama's turning down government funds is old news and not relevant to this election. Raising the issue at this late date serves no purpose other than to get the republicans to look with favor at Brown.

She and CNN are right wingers. I don't believe she is NOT biased.....but rather the opposite.

All the Rethugs are trying to look "independent" now.... grabbing for straws.

She is full of s**t. She's married to Dan Senor, a Bush/Repub thug and spokesman of Paul Bremer's provisional czardom in Iraq.

She wrote an article out this morning on CNN accusing Obama of "breaking his word" on public financing.

Campbell Brown: All Bias, All BS

You hit the nail on the head! Which part of "No Bias and No Bull" does she actually report? She is definitely all about "All Bias and All Bull....t"

I posted a comment on that article at CNN, which is yet to show up on the blogs, I bet it will not too.

I think she is trying to get an interview with Sarah Palin and fix fractured ties over Tucker Bounds, shameful what these folks do..

Wow. What logic you put forth.

First, their are many people who are married to people of the opposite party. You can't really draw any conclusions from the fact she married a Republican.

Second, Obama even acknowledges that he "changed his mind" regarding his earlier promise regarding public financing. So the story is absolutely true.

Third, she also does allot of stories ripping the Republicans and McCain.

Here is the problem you are having with her. You seem to think that any who says anything negative about Obama is biased, even if similiar things are said about McCain. An unbiased reporters job is to point out the BS in both campaigns, not just attack one and defend the other (if you want that stick to Olbermain).

Some people's fanatical defese of Obama, even when he goofs or breaks prior promises, reminds me of extreme religious people defended their chuch in some scandal. They prefer to put their hands over their ears and loudly say LA LA LA -- they just don't want to hear it, even if its the true.

Almost NOBODY in the Corporate Media has a clue as to what constitutes News any more.

Let alone fair and balanced reporting.

And the 24 Hour Cable News networks are the worst. No news, none of the time.
