Politico:

A Fox Broadcasting executive denied that Barack Obama's half-hour ad, scheduled for tomorrow night, forced Fox and Major League Baseball to delay the start of a World Series game.

That notion -- which had been reported repeatedly, including here, has become a Republican talking point.

"No one will delay the World Series game with an infomercial when I'm president," John McCain said today.

But the Fox account executive who negotiated the ad buy said Obama's ad isn't delaying the first pitch -- it's just replacing the pre-game show.

"Our first pitch for the world series is usually around 8:30 anyway -- so we didn't push back the game, it was really just about suspending the pre-game -- you know, Joe Buck," said the account executive, Joe Coppola. "That's all we did."

I think this whole thing is a bad move. Because it may delay/replace some shows, people that watch those shows will get annoyed. Annoying voters = bad. It will make many mad as as of now we are so saturated with political ads. The worst thing is that it is on more than one channel. The Obama ad will be like an annoying pop up internet ad that just gets in your way. They should have done it on one station, and on one that had a news show on it already.

I hope this doesn't backfire, but McCain is already making hay from it.

Let's not forget that McCain and the RNC muscled NBC and the NFL to hurry along the football game the night of McCain's convention speech to be timed exactly at 10pm Eastern to grab all the football viewers.

An infomercial from Obama would be like watching that ad for the electronic bug zapper they advertise on CNN...unintentionally hilarious.

Let's see...what will the imit on taxes be tomm'w night?

It started at 250K...
Then Joe The Gaffer said it was 150K
Then Obama today said 200K

Make up your mind, chumps!

No one said you had to watch.

You could always tune into CNN or Pushing Daisies... wait isn't that the McCain campaign?

McCain and Rupert are as "dingy" as it comes. Yes, continue to inform the MIDDLE CLASS that AT THIS TIME sports is paramount to your welfare.

Hey, Slack, In the seventies, when I was still in the broadcast biz, I had the good fortune to meet Jack Buck while he was doing a Redbirds game in St Louis. Was in the broadcast booth for a couple of innings. He was a true gentleman, and a true professional baseball broadcaster. He is missed. His son, not so much. Obama or McCarver and that guy, no brainer...

Now, I'm as big a baseball fan as the next guy, but who gives a crap about some stupid game. We have a presidential candidate who is going to take the time to speak to us. Hopefully he actually has something of substance to say.

I'd say the same if McCain could afford to do it, too.

1. Fox News Channel is not Fox the network that broadcasts over the airwaves.
2. While Fox can decide what programming they will air, Fox does NOT own the airwaves over which it broadcasts. Those belong to the people of the United States, who, through their representative government, in the form of the FCC, a federal agency under management of the executive branch of the federal government, which means the President runs it, kindly allow the networks to use them. (Lotsa commas there, sorry.)
3. McCain won't ever BE President, and hopefully in 2010 he won't be a Senator anymore either.

Pennsylvania--you can really get a winning 2 for one here!

World Series--a win for the Phillies.

PA Electoral Votes--a win for Obama.

It's a win-win!

"We’re just missing the pregame, which isn’t a big deal for us," said Coppola.

Guess he has the same opinion of Joe Buck that I do.

He, hee.

McCain can't even get Fox to go along with his special brand of BS anymore?

I know we've got 7 days left and can't take anything for granted but I need a place to regroup in DC, come the 3rd week in January! The hotels, motels, truck stops and park benches are booked solid!

Are there any HuffPosters that can help a Sista out? All I'll need is a place to shower and change my clothes...I'll sleep in my car!
