Jessica Simpson's "Major Movie Star" Gets Russia Debut, Hidden From America

What ever happened to Jessica Simpson's comedy, "Major Movie Star"?

The "Private Benjamin" - like film has never opened here in the United States. But on October 9th, "Major Movie Star" debuted to top box office in... Russia.

Next up for a movie described by one of its participants as "maybe one of the worsr films ever made": a November premiere in Bulgaria.

So far there's no U.S. release date set. Nor is there one for any other country in which English is the primary language. No fewer than 15 producers are listed on the credits of "Major Movie Star" including Jessica's enterprising dad, Joe.

I'm a long time rabid critic of the "Fluff", until I saw and heard "Angels". Quite good, as good or better than Robbie Williams, who is one of my favorite. Simpson, I didn't know has a voice range, a pretty good one too. Robbie Williams' version is classic, and Simpson offers a new perspective. Both are A-one in my book.

Jessica Simpson's version of "Angels" effectively redeemed her as a singer. IMO. I don't know about acting. Never saw any of her films.

I preferred Robbie Williams' version. I guess it was all that overwrought gyrating that kind of ruined Simpson's version for me. She appeared to be a very good American Idol contestant.

I've been really critical of American singers for a while now, especially Britney and Jessica, among others.

I won't bash Jessica. I'll just explain my reasoning. First, about the song Angels. Great song, and yes, that's probably the best I've ever heard Jessica sing. She's a beautiful and talented young woman, no doubt. But that voice, that tone. Her and Britney have something in common, almost like a nasal type singing. It's as if they pinch their nose and start saying "ewww, ewww, ewww" until they get it down, and then when they sing, all you hear is that "ewww" sound coming through. They should work on their natural voice and timbre. But that's just me.

Of all the singers lately I've heard, I'd have to say that arguably the best American singer out there, and she even has a master's degree in vocal performance to back it up, would have to be our own Melissa Ferlaak. She got hired by the European band Visions of Atlantis and has been with them for 1 cd "Trinity".

If Jessica had a little help, she could probably compete or even beat either one, because Jessica does have great vocal power and a good set of lungs. She just needs to harness it and mold it into that diamond that she could be. :o)

Honestly, I'm almost starting to feel sorry for her. She mugs through that movie like a trooper, the cast is decent, the premise actually is really perfect for her, and yet it still sucks...

Can't we just fast forward to her "I'm Still Here" gay icon second act?
