I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Last night, Fox spitting-head Bill O'Reilly sat down with Florida news anchor Barbara West, who told O'Reilly that her daffy questions to Joe Biden represented "serious issues!" and that "we are running out of time!" O'Reilly thought that her questions were "fine," naturally. None of this surprises you, the reader, I'm sure. Fittingly, in the clip of the interview O'Reilly shows, West is shown gravely quoting Marx as if she were a serious adult, and asserting that widely debunked falsehoods -- like that Obama was a community organizer for ACORN -- are true, as well as making it sound like his efforts to compel the State of Illinois to comply with the Motor-Voter Act were done so as some sort of personal retainer to the aforementioned group. O'Reilly, naturally thinks that this constitutes toughness -- though I'm guessing that he'd probably himself punk out of any interview containing tough questions about loofahs. Similarly, I'd have to imagine that an interview with Sarah Palin that covered such topics as witchcraft and Alaskan secessionist parties and rape kits would be the equivalent of a tough interview, but I imagine that O'Reilly would likely label such a reporter a "pinhead."

Anyway, West paints herself, and her actions, as those of a "probing, penetrating" reporter. She even believes that she gave John McCain the same sort of thorough grilling that she gave Biden. Hey, why not watch for yourself! I'm sure all that coddling she gave McCain really stung him!

She should offer up an example of a prior probative penetration of someone on the opposite end of the ideological spectrum from Biden, then! I'm guessing however, that her Biden interview was a brief flirtation with penetrative probes, as I'd never heard of this lady until last week and am looking forward to forgetting who she was around about the time I finish this sentence. There. What we're we talking about? Bill O'Reilly's crazy loofah fetish? OH YEAH. He's one BOLD, FRESH, PIECE OF HUMANITY, that one!

She should have quoted Groucho Marx.

I did too - mostly to say that I had a great laugh over the interview ! - I thought Biden was comfortable, confident & had a good time himself with the ridiculousness.

let barbara west know your thoughts:

ask her about 1964 McCain's car accident, ask about Cindy McCain's drug dealer, ask about POW records, ask about:
William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who John McCain has named to head his presidential transition team, aided an influence effort on behalf of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to ease international sanctions against his regime.
The two lobbyists who Timmons worked closely
During the same period beginning in 1992, Timmons worked closely with the two lobbyists, Samir Vincent and Tongsun Park, on a previously unreported prospective deal with the Iraqis in which they hoped to be awarded a contract to purchase and resell Iraqi oil. Timmons, Vincent, and Park stood to share at least $45 million if the business deal went through.

Jim Hensley, Convicted Felon;
G. Gordon Liddy, Convicted Felon;
Charles Keating, Convicted Felon;
Raffaello Follieri, Convicted Felon;
Rick Renzi, Under Indictment;
Rick Davis, Freddie Mac Lobbyist who was still on the payroll until a few weeks ago;
Charles Black, Lobbyist for Dictators;
Richard Quinn, White Supremist;
Pastor John Hagee, Bigot;
Pastor Rod Parsley, Bigot;
Todd Palin, Member of Secessionist Group;
Andrew McCain, Resigned Manager Failed Savings and Loan
Fox New biggest right wing joke other than 700 Club !

McCain traveled to Vietnam in October 1992 to collaborate with Kiet and other communist leaders on how best to remove the POW/MIA issue as an obstacle to normalized trade and diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States.

I thought Biden totally owned her, so I don't know what all the hoop-la is about.

I love the way Joe stood up for the middle class. We were doing great under the Clinton tax plan. Under the Bush Tax plan we have lost everything. Time for the good guys to swoop in and save the working Americans from the Bush agenda. McCain wants to give himself a tax cut. That is who he is fighting for. I guess seven houses just ain't enough for him....

I agree. I thought the interviewer was the one who seemed ill-informed and Joe handled himself well.

The Marx quote describes utopian socialism, not communism. It is pretty much proven that utopian socialism is unattainable, even at the level of hippie communes. However, it is also proven that we must have some form of socialism within our society to function. Nothing is inherently evil about socialism. Also, what's so bad about Sweden?

check out her interview with McCain and decide if she was soft on him. I think she was as mindless during the interview with McCain as with Biden, but I think the questions were largely tough, although, a few minutes into the interview she tosses a big round softball.

with no follow-up questions, it's almost as if she's not even listening. mindless reporting, with "tough" questions is anything but "tough"

I thought that was a bit weird, too, no follow-up to the questions. I didn't think she went that easy on McCain, though, not as much as I had expected she might of after seeing her attack on Biden.

It is funny how the far right labels such a ridiculous interview as an example of asking tough questions. There are many tough questions to ask, but quoting Marx and asking how Obama differs is not an example of one. She may as well ask: "Senator Biden, have you beat your wife lately?" and label it as a tough question. I am sure O'Reilly would agree and call it fair.

Amazingly, the giant head O'Reilly even walked off the set of an interview with PBS because he did not like the tone of the questions. The questions in the PBS interview just quoted his words and asked him to respond. As with most bullies, O'Reilly likes "tough" questions as long as he is not on the receiving end of them.

In all fairness ... I'd walk off too if asked my preference of "Natural" or "Synthetic" loofahs.

Yes, but I do not think they had gotten into that subject yet. O'Reilly would have probably stuck around and made some strange noises.

This woman is a stupid arrogant hack. If she had a minimum of academic and professional integrity she would have to pose the same damn question to every Republican running for office for decades, who have supported any form of graduated tax policy, meaning the majority. Now the old lady has had her moment of national fame... go back to your intellectual out-house!

Dear Mr. Linkins:

Your point is true. The questions were assinine and loaded.

However, you did yourself a disservice by referring to "penetrating probes" in relation to the female anchorwoman. Some might think this sexist and inappropriate language that diminishes you.

So-- is STUPIDTY and a gross inability to understand the simplest concepts, terms and ideas presented by Obama as a way we can make the kind of positive change we need, a pre-requisite for supporting McCain/Palin-- as this "journalist" obviously does?? It boggles my mind how completely off target many McCain/Palin followers are on so many of the issues. They just don’t seem to be able to wrap their minds around new ideas-- and can only relate them to old concepts they have that didn’t work. It is very sad. It is not even like many of these concepts are COMPLEX—they are fairly simple and clean-cut—and the version these people hold in their minds and put out their mouths, are completely inaccurate. Did someone put something in their water?

In reading your comment I am able to put a thoughtful phrase to my bewilderment in Mc/P followers. Yes, indeed, they do not seem to be able to wrap their minds around any cognitive idea! This means, they (they know who they are - well maybe NOT!) would expand their reality and take responsibility for ones actions and words and even expound some sort of self examination/actualization.
