O'Reilly Interviews Biden Interlocutor Barbara West

Last night, Fox spitting-head Bill O'Reilly sat down with Florida news anchor Barbara West, who told O'Reilly that her daffy questions to Joe Biden represented "serious issues!" and that "we are running out of time!" O'Reilly thought that her questions were "fine," naturally. None of this surprises you, the reader, I'm sure. Fittingly, in the clip of the interview O'Reilly shows, West is shown gravely quoting Marx as if she were a serious adult, and asserting that widely debunked falsehoods -- like that Obama was a community organizer for ACORN -- are true, as well as making it sound like his efforts to compel the State of Illinois to comply with the Motor-Voter Act were done so as some sort of personal retainer to the aforementioned group. O'Reilly, naturally thinks that this constitutes toughness -- though I'm guessing that he'd probably himself punk out of any interview containing tough questions about loofahs. Similarly, I'd have to imagine that an interview with Sarah Palin that covered such topics as witchcraft and Alaskan secessionist parties and rape kits would be the equivalent of a tough interview, but I imagine that O'Reilly would likely label such a reporter a "pinhead."

Anyway, West paints herself, and her actions, as those of a "probing, penetrating" reporter. She even believes that she gave John McCain the same sort of thorough grilling that she gave Biden. Hey, why not watch for yourself! I'm sure all that coddling she gave McCain really stung him!

She should offer up an example of a prior probative penetration of someone on the opposite end of the ideological spectrum from Biden, then! I'm guessing however, that her Biden interview was a brief flirtation with penetrative probes, as I'd never heard of this lady until last week and am looking forward to forgetting who she was around about the time I finish this sentence. There. What we're we talking about? Bill O'Reilly's crazy loofah fetish? OH YEAH. He's one BOLD, FRESH, PIECE OF HUMANITY, that one!

I watched both interviews, West/Biden and West/McCain. The questions to Biden were pointed but he answered them and of course he was combative, he was being attacked. I do object to West's position that she was tough on McCain. She only asked him questions that were critical of Obama. And again mentioned how ACORN was involved in voter fraud b/c Mickey Mouse was on a registration form. Does she think Mickey will actually be allowed to vote? By the way, from what I've heard Mickey is a republican b/c he makes more than 250k a year.

If Barbara West had been as hard on McCain as she was on Biden, she might have asked the following question:

You may recognize this famous quote, "Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger." That's from Hermann Goering. How are you, Senator McCain, not being a fascist if you attempt to sway votes by saying, "That's not America," when referring to Obama's tax cuts, claim that Socialist leaders from abroad support Obama and are more upfront and honest than he is, and allow your surrogates to refer to Obama as an anti-American socialist who pals around with terrorists and will put this country in danger?

I'm a have, and you don't have to have something against me to ask me to pay more taxes. I don't have to work, and under Bush I've see huge tax breaks. All Obama wants to do is return me to a pre-Bush tax situation. I'll pay more taxes, but I still won't have to work, and there will be more money for all of the things that this country will need to do in the coming years. And it looks like this will be a lot.

I don't think that you realize how unfair this whole situation is for most of the country. Why is it that I see this but so many others don't. I voted for Obama. Everyone but the most selfish of the uber-rich should.

There is also the fact that the "have-nots" simply don't have the money to pay for 2 wars, Anti-missile Defense, increased Pentagon spending in general, as well as Wall Street bailout, and all those Wall Street bonuses.

Have to go somewhere for that money.

We "have-nots" do have the money to pay for Social Security and Medicare. seeing as that is what we have been doing all along.

Now that Democrats are in charge they ought to do what the Repugs did and use access like a dog biscuit to make these beasts beg for scraps to put on their tawdry "news" programs. But Dems are too timid to do something so bold. Biden should have offered this creep one more chance to ask a serious question, then walked away from the camera. Again, too bold. Too bad.

I saw written elsewhere that West was trying to argue that she's a professional journalist. Maybe she doesn't understand that a "journalist" (as opposed to a commentator) is not supposed to insert their own opinions in their work. The goal is to be neutral.

The problem with West's interview with Biden is that she inserted her opinion into the questions -- and then didn't see that there was any problem with that.

That darn liberal media anyway.

What does that mean? She did not get the answers or the blunder she wanted from Biden and that clearly shows (by her own admission) that she had an agenda.
