I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Palin

One of John McCain's advisers recently called his running mate Sarah Palin a "diva" after she went off-script at a rally, and suggested she was looking after her own political future over the current campaign. Now another adviser ups the ante in a conversation with the Politico's Playbook, labeling Palin a "whack job."

Meanwhile, Dana Milbank reports on more signs of division between McCain and his running mate on the stump:

"Sarah Oh-Twelve!" bellowed a man in field coat and jeans, one of several thousand at the Leesburg rally, when Palin spoke about her tax policies yesterday.

The oh-twelve message, if mathematically flawed, seemed to capture the crowd's sentiment. There were "I [Heart] Palin" bumper stickers on cars, "Team Sarah" T-shirts in pink, "Sarah!" pins and countless signs: "You Go Girl." "You're in Palin Country." "Maverick Barracuda." One of the souvenir vendors said his most popular offering was a pin showing Palin next to a pit bull and the usual "McCain-Palin" logo reversed, with her name first and in larger letters.

...

The diva made sure to spend some time on her "own track record" in Alaska, particularly all the taxes she cut. "Sarah! Sarah!" the crowd chanted.

"So, Virginia, will you hire us?" she asked. "Will you send us to Washington?"

"Yes, we will! Yes, we will!"

In 2012, that is.

I have a question...if Ms. Palin and her family were among the uninsured in this country and were to go out and purchase a health care policy...what do you suppose it would cost? Oh, wait, maybe we should calculate that a little closer after medical records are released. I wonder what the big secret there is anyway.

Sarah Palin was a good idea...at first.
Then Sarah started talking.
And then Sarah shut up.
Now Sarah has been to international policy bootcamp.
Sarah now speaks when she wants to speak.
Sarah Palin is a maverick.

Almost from the beginning, it's been like Palin has been running her OWN race to the White House, prepping the way for her to take 2012. She said in the beginning she was a maverick too. I guess they are just two different types of mavericks, running two different races. I just hope she winds up being like other flash in the pan pop culture mini moments, and goes the way of the chia pet.

What I'd like to see happen is this:

Obama wins.

McCain cranks out 3rd memoir of regrets, disclosing what a rotten decision he made with Palin and how she cost him his one giant personal ambition.

Palin returns to Alaska, is investigated for north of 4 major things, a recall is started and is a success. Levi dumps Bristol and returns to school.

Todd and Sarah lose their jobs, home and are ostracized by the entire state forcing them to relocate to Utah or Idaho in the hopes of making a political comeback but instead Todd joins the Mormon faith and starts marrying lots of younger women.

Sarah opens her own consignment store called " The has been ".

I see a reality show starring the Palin Clan...some kind of new political Fox news version of reality show....Palin survivor..the real northern exposure....Wasilla 99654.

I can't believe I am reading articles that would even hint at Palin running for Pres. in 2012...please...
she is a fad. In a few years you wont hear her name...Do you hear about Ross Perot, Dan Quail ...... politicians come and go.

Thank God For Palin! She has come along at the perfect time to let us all see deep into the black hearts of the GOP and to what depths they will go to take advantage of ignorant, uninformed people who really don't have an understanding of how truely important this election is. This election is not about "us VS them". A lot more is at stake than "shooting the prey" "Winning the race" "our team can beat your team". America deserves a President who has the ability to bring us all together in a way that those poor ignorant people will see as a situation where we "all" benefit! The devisiveness that has kept America from being as great as it can be, and once was, is gonna be defeated in this election. One side is'nt gonna win while the other looses, but rather we are all gonna win our country back! We are all Americans and the day is soon to come when we will know that no matter what our differences are, we all need each other now, more than ever. God Bless the USA!! Obama/Biden 2008

it's incredible that the republican party is turning against both McCain or Palin. But i guess it's not that hard to imagine why....they are already fighting with each other...and changing their positions from the RNC's original goals. I'm not really sure where the McCain of 2004 is, but he's definitely not in this race.

It might not be incredible that the GOP regrets not choosing someone like Huckabee or Romney or even Ron Paul (you can't put lipstick on a Palin if you already have a Giuliani).

I could not help but watch a sleepy GOP convention turn into a Macy's white sale by the selection of Palin. I also interpret the look of disbelief and mild disgust on many of the military veterans' faces to be sincere. Perhaps that is why General Powell left his Republican "Fox"hole.

The question remains, in regards to America's best interests, whether a president should be sincere, if not manipulated and incompetent, or cruelly competent, if not manipulating and insincere.

Whack Jobs all of them. No wonder the country and the world is in such a mess.

Eisenhower was no whack job.

It all started with that deeply flawed but brilliant man, Richard Nixon. I see a lot of his sense of alienation, his envy and self pity in the current republican core. He was one strange guy.

For that core group this current ticket comes along as a perfect fit: a smashed up old jet jockey whose amibitions outstripped his abilities, and a archetypal undereducated, self seeking, cynically power seeking woman are perfect representatives.

Sarah as the Republican nominee in 12 sounds like a great idea ... Obama could win 48 states to kick off his second term!

If Palin runs for pres in 2012, we are looking at a Reagan-like blow-out. She will probably win Alaska. You go girl.

I don't think she is very good at math. Although there are thousands of "Palin-fans" at her rallies, she needs a majority to win anything. Given the fact that she basically ran over McCain, then threw it in reverse and ran over him again, I'm not sure that many Republicans outside of the fringe religious group will jump on her bandwagon. But who knows? This is the party of Karl Rove and George Bush. Nothing would surprise me.
