Palin A "Whack Job," Top McCain Adviser Says

One of John McCain's advisers recently called his running mate Sarah Palin a "diva" after she went off-script at a rally, and suggested she was looking after her own political future over the current campaign. Now another adviser ups the ante in a conversation with the Politico's Playbook, labeling Palin a "whack job."

Meanwhile, Dana Milbank reports on more signs of division between McCain and his running mate on the stump:

"Sarah Oh-Twelve!" bellowed a man in field coat and jeans, one of several thousand at the Leesburg rally, when Palin spoke about her tax policies yesterday.

The oh-twelve message, if mathematically flawed, seemed to capture the crowd's sentiment. There were "I [Heart] Palin" bumper stickers on cars, "Team Sarah" T-shirts in pink, "Sarah!" pins and countless signs: "You Go Girl." "You're in Palin Country." "Maverick Barracuda." One of the souvenir vendors said his most popular offering was a pin showing Palin next to a pit bull and the usual "McCain-Palin" logo reversed, with her name first and in larger letters.

The diva made sure to spend some time on her "own track record" in Alaska, particularly all the taxes she cut. "Sarah! Sarah!" the crowd chanted.

"So, Virginia, will you hire us?" she asked. "Will you send us to Washington?"

"Yes, we will! Yes, we will!"

In 2012, that is.

If I ever dreamed, remotely, of a McCain presidency, that was totally and thankfully snuffed out when Palin's bizarre nomination to the VP slot was announced. My first thought: Who IS this woman and why should the American people trust her? As the campaign unraveled and zig-zagged all over the place, I was appalled at what I saw and heard from Palin. And insulted, too. How could anyone who thinks clearly and carefully possibly vote for a party that would throw Palin on the ticket? Holy smoke!

Sarah Palin has made her World debue. Now she needs to get back home and look after her affairs in Alaska.
Her family seems very lovely. Those children need her NOW. They are still young and with a grandchild coming she needs to BE THERE for her family. Those children are growing so very quickly. The years go by as uickly as a WINK.
She can run for President if she feels so inclined a couple of elections from now.
FAMILY is very important. Home life is important and so is lots of family time.

Two observations

1. When your own people refer to the #2 on the ticket as a " Whackjob" then there is some serious disarray in the campaign.

2. When your running mate often acts more like a rival politician than a running made you #2 is indeed a " Whackjob"

I can understand women having her back, especially when HIllary didn't get the nomination and women's efforts still being marginalized. But the following of a woman that doesn't have women's rights in mind shows how stupid some people are. I'm not saying that women are stupid, but you can't just follow ANY woman. I think that a run in 2012 will be smashed not only by Obama (if he wins) if she gets the nomination, but the other republicans running against Palin will destroy her in the primaries. You think Romney would take a back seat to Palin? This guy lied all the way through the primaries; he won't even have to make up anything against Palin.

The funniest part of all this to me is that republicans have never been the home of women's rights and, beyond her reletive physical attractivness, they'll never take her as seriously as Democrats do with Clinton. This "love-fest" is all a facade that will fade away after this election.

Those who find Rev. Wright scary have probably never spent much time in a Black church. They are far more demonstrative than others (I've been to numerous Jewish, Catholic, Muslim, and Protestant churches of varied cultures and denominations, so I have experience on which to base my statements). It is unfair to judge a career of more than 3 decades on a few cherry-picked sound bites, one of which shows him quoting the words someone else had actually said.

No, you are so not alone in that! Her voice is so grating that I can hardly listen to the short clips of her speeches on the news. She is not only hard to listen to because of her voice, the hate message that she is spewing is appalling! I can't believe that so many otherwise good people are thinking that she is good for our country in any way, shape or form. I am one Virginian who would NEVER vote for that woman!
