Palin Big Drag On Ticket, Polls Show

Sarah Palin has become a drag on the Republican presidential ticket, the first time in recent political history that a running mate has made such a difference.

Among many independents and moderate Republicans, she's raised serious questions about John McCain's judgment, become too much of a national punch line and reinforced concerns about McCain's age.

"Nice lady, no experience. It's so sad. She's a gigantic drag," said Chris DePino, a Republican consultant based in New Haven, Conn.

Sarah Palin has been associated all her adult life with churches and political groups that are way out of the theological and political mainstream. Her extreme policy views as Governor reflect this background and raise questions about what kind of vice president John McCain seeks to have voters endorse.

It has been widely reported that McCain barely knew Palin and his team never fully evaluated her to determine her fitness to be vice president.

A recent report in The Anchorage Daily News stated that evangelist Franklin Graham made the Palin connection to McCain, not Republican professionals. Graham, the once-estranged son of Billy Graham, has strong ties to the various strands of the religious rightwing. He met with McCain on June 30 at his headquarters in Boone, North Carolina, after which Graham issued a statement praising McCain’s "personal faith" and prayed for "God’s will to be done in this upcoming election

Sarah Palin represents the heart and soul of a dumbed down-low information self-loathing and culturally regressive electorate. She is the female version of George Bush. Both are exceptional hypocrites as they play to images that don't really represent who they are.

There is a huge section of our nation that is intimidated by science, logic, and critical thinking. They want to believe that they can be ignorant, incompetent, and somehow qualified at the same time. It is a collective ego -trip that is about to come to an end as economic realities and responsibilities hit home for millions of Americans.

Sarah Palin idiotic rants and accusations will only have to be tolerated for another week. She and George W. Bush are the last of a dying breed. Both are persons who played the role of stupid while living off the treasure of America's glorious past.

Millions of Americans have enjoyed the ride with them into oblivion while holding on to myths and fairy tales. Now that ride is about to crash into the the harsh wall of REALITY!!!

Palin was the wrong choice right from the beginning, McCain liked her, she was pretty and so much more that Cindy, who always seems so cold and distant, we know how John always had something for the the ladies. I guess he thought she would bring some life to his campaign and to an old man. Well she sure did, with her big mouth, and the lipstick on the pit bull remark she came on strong and there were many we liked her. As for her she just loved the attention she was getting and it didn't matter if she knew anything at all about what the VP does let alone what the president does, she was there for the people Ms. Six-pack was what they wanted and that's what they got and now of course the Republicans are stuck with her as she thinks she is presidential material and will run on her own in 2012, without even a blink, what an ego she has!!! Soon they will all be packing to go home and hopefully we don't have to hear anything about the Eskimo Pie for a long time.

There is enough blame to go around. Palin has to take responsibilty for her actions, McCain has to do the same, McCains advisors need to as well and the RNC has their straw in the Kool-aid too.

In a déjà vu moment from Campaign 2006, President George W. Bush again is asking his Attorney General to launch an investigation into the registration of hundreds of thousands of new voters, many of whom are expected to vote Democratic.

Bush forwarded to Attorney General Michael Mukasey a Republican request that he intervene in the battleground state of Ohio to force 200,000 new voters to either verify the information on their registration forms or cast provisional ballots, which are often thrown out after the voter leaves the polling place.

Why does the media insist on calling the extreme conservatives, the bigots, and the religious fanatics the "Republican base?" I don't have time to parse the polls, but I don't buy it. I think the Republican base is made up of moderate Republicans - which is why John McCain is losing. Sarah Palin didn't bring him the Republican "base" - she lost it for him.
