Media Matters   |   October 29, 2008 12:32 PM

In an October 27 article, Washington Post media critic Howard Kurtz reported that Fox News Channel "now expresses regret for booking [Andy] Martin" -- who, as Media Matters for America has noted, has, among other things, referred to a judge as a "crooked, slimy Jew" and accused African-Americans of being "willing to corrupt and abuse their public offices" -- on the October 5 edition of Fox News' Hannity's America. As Media Matters documented, Sean Hannity hosted Martin -- identified by Hannity as an "Internet journalist" -- to make what Hannity called "the explosive claim that [Sen. Barack] Obama's role as a community organizer was a political staging ground perpetuated by the unrepentant terrorist William Ayers." Kurtz wrote: "[Fox News Senior Vice President Bill] Shine says Hannity disagrees with some of Martin's past comments. 'Having that guy on was a mistake,' Shine says. 'We obviously didn't do enough research on who the guest was.' " But according to searches of the Nexis and Factiva databases, Hannity himself has not expressed regret or acknowledged having made a mistake regarding Martin on either Hannity's America or Hannity & Colmes, both Fox News shows.

Why does Fox hire Hannity? He pals around with neonazis (Hal Turner).

I before the election was a fan of Fox News. It offered a different point of view, one I rarely agreed with even though I have been a Republican all of my adult life. The fact that Fox allowed this guest on the show is beyond defense. In years past I was willing to give Mr. Hannity a pass as it appeared , he was just trying to give voice to alternative view points.

It seems that Mr. Hannity is in fact at his core an angry man and willing to promote both himself, and his network at the expense of journalistic and personal integrity. His caustic attitude is painfully transparent and there is a palpable since of ambient malevolence which can be directed at any guest that disagrees with him.

Finally, and simply how utterly disgraceful Fox news is fora aiding and abetting a hater of Jewish people and tolerating such a worm tongue. You are not a news channel, you are not "Fair and Balanced" you are constantly and intentionally looking to build up the extreme right of the republican Party.

How dare you seek to pull the mote out of the eyes of so many when the judgment and leadership of Fox news has proven itself t not just partisan but in the end pathetic. Pull, the antisemitic and racists planks out of your own eye first.

I'll try again since I was politely censored.

Should CNN and MSNBC have expressed regret for booking Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan on occasions? Both of whom have made nasty anti-semite remarks in the past. Or do different networks get to have different rules?

Just like Fixed news to go after the guest...ok you were right to refute his statements, but what about your host Hannity who continues to agree with them.

I guess it's ok as long as your boy continues to bring in the racist and hatemongers to boost your ratings.

What do you really care?

The appropriate reaction to Fox News is to stop watching their nonsense and to let them know why. Poor ratings will cause change at Fox.

Having worked for and with a group of very creative and solid thinking Australians for many years, I can attest to the fact that they were reasonable straight forward people by no means as lunatic as Rupert.

Rupert should be encouraged to dismiss Ailes, Hannity and the others at Fox. They should certainly be on whatever side of the political divide they choose to be on, but there is somewhat objective and principled discourse. Fox has not learned that art.

With friends like Hannity, Fox, and Lieberman, Israel needs no enemies.

Wow - money does talk - for the last 2 weeks Fox News / Bill Reilly have been losing in the ratings to Keith O and Rachel Maddow - NOW all of a sudden they want to apologize for something Robert Gibbs with the Obama campaign brought up over a month ago, when he took Hannity to the cleaners by stating that Hannity could be an anti-semite for having such a vile person on his self-titled show!

So Fox starts losing money and now they 'see the light' - WOW!

Keep up the good work Keith/Rachel - and may MSNBC now figure out how to shut down Hannity ratings next.

"In one week, we can choose hope over fear, unity over division, the promise of change over the power of the status quo. In one week, we can come together as one nation, and one people, and once more choose our better history. That's what's at stake. That's what we're fighting for." - Quote from Barack Obama in his closing argument speech.

CNN's Roland Martin has it right...Sean is a "little ball of hate". He attracts haters and Faux loves it...please.

it doesn't matter. FOX "news" will continue to spew hate FIRST, and then issue apologies long after their messages have already been digested by their viewers. the damage is done.

Ok, I get it now. Fox can lie and attack Obama & democrats, but heaven forbid they have an anti-semite.
