GOPer Reportedly Launches Phony, Gay Baiting Robocall

I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Gaybaiter

Chalk this up as one of, if not the, sleaziest robocall of this election cycle.

In a race for a South Carolina Senate seat, the Republican challenger, Mick Mulvaney, has reportedly launched an automated call effort that makes it seem as if a gay-rights group is effusively praising his opponent's extremely liberal agenda.

The calls claim to be sponsored by an organization called the Alliance for the Advancement of Gays and Lesbians -- except such a group doesn't actually exist. And "they" praise the Democratic candidate in that race, Mandy Powers Norrell, for absurdly framed positions, such as her support for "homosexual unions and abortion rights."

It is all an outrageous (if not sad) gay baiting effort designed to make Norrell seem way out of touch with traditional South Carolinian values. Not to mention the fact that it may also be fraudulent -- there are laws prohibiting robocalls in the state.

It also brings to mind two other instances of similarly devious campaigning. The first being, of course, the calls the undermined John McCain's 2000 primary run in the Palmetto State. The second occurred this past fall when calls were made in the Kentucky gubernatorial race claiming that "For the first time in 20 years, the homosexual lobby proudly endorses" Democrat Steve Beshear.

Hat tip: Shaun Dakin.

As usual the Republicans are using misinformation to try and win elections. I mean, do you really think they would keep winning if they said, "We are for deregulaion, so the big corporations can make a lot of money and pay their employees a lot of money. We are for a war that gives us potential financial leverage with the oil industry, as it can line our pockets better. We believe that Main Street is what is right with this country! (As long as you are white, evangelical and middle class...we are trying to keep out the riff raff)."

The Republicans ONCE were for equality for everyone. They may have catered to the wealthy and businesses, but there seemed to be some acknowledgement that there were those who weren't worth $100 million or owned over 8 houses. War was a course of last resort, not the only diplomacy tried.

I hope this is a change in the political climate and the conservatives are going to have their 30 years in the wilderness to think about what they have wrought.

Someone needs to snag the audio on his and slow it down. At the 30 second mark, the woman repeats her name as "Alice" and gives a single syllable name. I just can't quite peg it.

Might be worth the effort to identify the narrator and dig a little deeper.

When you flat out lie like this, which can be damaging, he should be pulled out of the race.

This is sick.

This year for Halloween, I want to be really scary.

I am going to dress up as either Sarah Palin, Michele Bachman, Joe the Plumber or The Wolfman.

Happy Halloween!

So why would the Alliance for the Advancement of Gays and Lesbians care about abortion? It seems to me that would be pretty low on any GLBT agenda.

You know, as a homosexual, I have never felt that embraced by my nation. But the past eight years have been some of the most demoralizing years of my life.

I wonder who they'd blame if they didn't have us to ridicule.

The Black people.
As a black woman I have never felt so under attack, unsafe, and unprotected as I do now and this is the USA the land of the free?
I am worried about the saftey of my children.

I didn't want to say that, for fear (since I'm from Alabama) of coming off racist.

But there you have it ladies and gentlemen.

I, too, worry for your children.

And I worry for all of us.

I'm really starting to wonder if that is a light at the end of the tunnel.

If I'll even make it to the end of that tunnel.

Republicans make me want to puke. And, I am so glad that I no longer live in South Carolina....the state that continues to fly the Confederate flag above the state house.

it seems that all GOPers are frauds!

LISTEN ALL: Please Go Vote! There has been many confirmed reports of voting fraud with the Republican Party and it's supporters. Obama is need of all the votes necessary to create a landslide. Let's make sure that our state turns blue! Voting is a right and a privilege. Let's all make history together!

Polls are tightening, and elections have been stolen in the past (!) Vote early if you can!

My simple answer:

If you don't think gays should marry, don't marry one.
If you don't believe in abortions don't have one.

I believe in small government, keep it out of my life. Just think how much it would cost and how large the government would have to be to enforce all these moral edicts! A police officer in every bedroom? every doctor's office?

Right on Sista! The Republican Thugs.....seems like they just can't get away from their sleaze factor. I mean, why else are they so focused on what gay people do in the bedroom!
