Democrat Barack Obama is sharpening his tone against John McCain, accusing his Republican rival of sinking low by accusing him of being a socialist based on his tax plan.

Rallying a crowd Wednesday in North Carolina, the Democratic presidential contender said McCain will soon "be accusing me of being a secret communist because I shared my toys in kindergarten. I shared my peanut butter and jelly sandwich."

Obama also tried to turn around McCain's reliance on the argument of helping "Joe the Plumber." He's the Ohio man who gained national attention when Obama told him during a campaign stop that he wanted to "spread the wealth around."

Obama said people will be worse off under a McCain presidency whether they are "Suzy the student, or Nancy the nurse, or Tina the teacher, or Carl the construction worker."

Politics is a lot like driving a car ... to go backwards put it in "R" and to go forwards put it in "D"!

OMG! We'd better start checking out the curriculums in the Kindergarten classrooms around the country. Those kindergrten teachers are always teaching "terrible" socialist values - like...
1) share your toys
2) learn to work together and play together
3) good sportsmanship
4) tell the truth and do not falsely blame others
5) take care of your belongings and your neighbors, too
6) the classroom is a community that belongs to every student in that room
7) no one in the class is any better than anyone else in the class
8) respect the rights of others
9) don't settle for anything less than your best
10) AND MOST IMPORTANT...FOLLOW THE RULES

Do they teach children not to confiscate toys from another grade and redistribute them?

Actually, no, the classroom does NOT belong to the students.

I've got to talk to my 8 year old grandson. Recently he cleaned out his toy box and donated the toys to a needy children's drive.

I don't think the little guy knows he's a commie. How do I break the bad news to him?

A primer on tax law

Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain both propose a progressive income tax. A progressive income tax is one that imposes a higher tax rate on individuals who make more money. Since the adoption of the sixteenth amendment (authorized the government to impose a direct tax on individuals) in 1913 every tax bill has been some variation of this progressive income tax. Many of the wealthier taxpayers have decried this tax structure as a form of socialism.

What Sam the Plumber doesn't realize, and the McCain camp won't tell him is that the real argument is not over substance, but form. Rather than recognizing this fact, Sam the Plumber would rather pay more taxes under McCain's progressive income tax than less under Mr. Obama because of this ideological misconception.

In fairness to Sam, he is an idiot and knows nothing about what he talks about. A perfect running mate for Palin in 2012.

Barack continues to impress with his ability to save the best for last. It must be very frustrating for mccain to try and keep up with a man who is light years ahead of him.

McCain and Palin both spend about two weeks calling Barack every kind of name they can associating him with communist/socialist and marxist, and Barack can dismiss 2 weeks of attacks with a couple of lines and a laugh in their face! PRICELESS!

I want "THAT ONE" to be my president.

This one, too:

One more thing about this whole "socialism" question:
Anyone who has paid property taxes but hasn't had a kid in the local school district has had his/her wealth redistributed. That's a form of socialism, as are Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, etc.
The point is that we have a common investment in the betterment of society as a whole. We need smarter, healthier, wealthier people at all social/financial strata.
The ones yowling loudest at the McCain-Palin rallies over the redistribution of wealth don't realize that it is THEIR wealth that is currently being redistributed to the top 1 percent -- and that it would only get worse under McCain. So many of them have had the neocon bumper-sticker slogans seared onto their cerebra that explaining to them that they're voting against their own best interest is futile.
Exhibit A: Joe the Plumber (alias, Sam the unlicensed handyman)

I read a funny analogy somewhere--can't remember where now to give proper credit:

Poor or middle-class Americans voting for McCain/Palin are like chickens voting for Colonel Sanders.

Ha!

"The point is that we have a common investment in the betterment of society as a whole."

Today's Republicans just don't seem to grasp the whole idea of "the common good." They see the country as just a collection of individuals with no common purpose or interests.

The example I sometimes try to use on them is firefighting. We could have a system in which people pay the fire company to put out the fire if their house is ablaze. If they don't have the money to pay, too bad -- the house burns down. (In ancient Rome this is what actually happened.) I call this "the capitalist model."

The problem with that model is that if you let one house burn it ignites the adjacent houses and pretty soon your whole city burns down. It's not in the interest of the community to let the city burn down. So we use tax money to hire firefighters to put out fires. One might call this "the socialist model."

Like a good lefty, I'm recycling my comment from another post:
There are great parallels between our current situation under George W. Bush and the state of the country as Herbert Hoover was leaving office in 1932. Hoover famously (or infamously) proclaimed the fundamentals of the economy to be strong. He advocated less regulation of businesses and financial markets. Sound familiar, Sen. McCain?
It wasn't until FDR took office and immediately set about creating jobs with the WPA that the Depression started to ease and prosperity gradually returned. Now, how did that happen? Through tax dollars, which paid those workers, who were able to buy things, so manufacturers needed to hire people to make thise things, and then those people, in their new jobs, spent their money -- and paid their taxes -- and the economy flourished anew, not on the bubble of Wall Street exuberance, but on actual products and services and hard work. Socialism? A bit. Just enough to stoke the engine of capitalism.

Barack can outsmart McCain and Plain in his sleep. They are no match for him in intellect or wit.

Barack is the total package.

I guess we all learned to be commies in kindergarten from our moms who were always telling us to share, and be kind, and to look out for our friends. Or, maybe that was only the moms who lived in the non-American parts of America.....

That is the best response to McCant message: ridicule. Frankly speaking, the McCant campaign is just reduced to a laughing stock- what a shame.
