I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Here's a funny moment from Obama's rally today in North Carolina -- a rally in which (not so humorously) two attendees passed out, in the process stopping the event while Obama urged medical personnel to attend to them and even offered up his own bottled water.

Responding to charges that his economic policies were socialistic in nature, the Democratic nominee ridiculed his opponent for resorting to trivialities and distractions.

"Now, because he knows that his economic theories don't work, he's been spending these last few days calling me every name in the book. Lately he's called me a socialist for wanting to roll-back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans so we can finally give tax relief to the middle class. I don't know what's next. By the end of the week he'll be accusing me of being a secret communist because I shared my toys in kindergarten. I shared my peanut butter and jelly sandwich."

The line was reminiscent of when Obama chastised Hillary Clinton during the primary for citing his kindergarten papers as evidence that he had a long-held presidential ambition. Now, as then, Obama chose to parlay the attack through humor as much as substance, a method that has proved effective not just in dismissing charges but drawing media attention towards his rebuttal.

Here's a funny moment from Obama's rally today in North Carolina -- a rally in which (not so humorously) two attendees passed out, in the process stopping the event while Obama urged medical personnel...

He should mock them. Clowns like Tom de lay -- the epitome of the crooked politician who tries to hide behind god when he makes a mockery of everything jesus stood for. de lays parents should apologize for having procreated and conceived him.

exactly. people who make less than $250,000 a year (which is almost everyone that attends McCain rallies these days) and who are worried about "spreading wealth around" are actually just worried about their Wh!te money falling into Bl@ck hands. Jesus told us what Christian values are ... as many have posted here , helping your brother, aiding the needy ... that is what JC would want. and thats what Obama wants. if you're Christian, you should be voting Obama. If you're a voting McCain and you're not rich, then you're either ignorant , a one issue voter (guns, abortion), or you're a R@cist.

Here's the deal ,,, it's all code words. Most (if not almost all) of the people who are cheering McCain's rally assertions that Obama is a socialist will benefit from having "wealth spread around". These people are afraid that he'll use their tax dollars to house homeless people or simply give it all to unemployed, shiftless minorities. in other words, the wh!te GOP supporters dont want their money going to help bl@ck people. the "spread the wealth", "Nascar Dads", "Hockey Moms", "Middle America" ,,, all thinly veiled fearmongering by the McCain camp to make workin' class folks think that their tax dollars are suddenly going to get raised and then spent on urban city folk, and minorities. McCain wont play that race card in full, but their code words are getting the point across to the people they are trying to reach. VOTE ON NOV 4 !!!!!

But, TheOpus, you know the irony is that white folks outnumber other ethnic groups on social welfare - even when they have the monetary means. They have access to services and programs that other groups don't know about. The actual data differs from the perception created in the media about certain racial groups in urban areas having access to welfare. Perception is reality.

Some of you need to study Government again in school. The constitution specifically states the qualifications of the US President. Do you think for one minute if Obama's was not a natural born citizen that he'd be allowed to run? With the stuff they've been throwing around to see what might stick believe me, they'd have used him not being a natural born citizen. A candiate must be at least age 35 and has resided within the US 14 years. That is it. About all the other "records", they are not criteria to be president. I am sure most of those listed are public records but even still, not necessary. Every election the democrat is "the most liberal" which amazes me as not all of them can be "the most" and spooky theories are floating. It is the same every election. Move on or get a life.

He is on the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. He had to have security clearance to be on that committee.

It's just another one of their fear tactics!

Honestly, what do they think he's going to do? Give America to the Muslims? Think about it. He's been plotting this since he was doing his community service helping all those poor people because he knew someday he would TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!! It's a little "Pinky and the Brain" don't you think?

Malinda, folks don't want to think for themselves. They want to be told what to think. That's why they sit listlessly in front of television and create the same drama in their lives. How dare you bring common sense into the equation? That's heresy. :-)

CNN Poll: Obama Doubles Lead In Colorado, Makes Gains On Map

With the switch of Colorado’s nine electoral votes and Indiana’s 11, CNN now estimates that if the election were held today Obama would win states with 286 electoral votes and McCain states with 163, with 89 electoral votes still up for grabs. Two-hundred and seventy electoral votes are needed to clinch the presidency. Obama's estimate of 286 electoral votes is a jump from 274 in our most recent electoral college map.

It is a sad spectacle to watch John McCain debase himself after what used to be an honorable career. Now he will be remembered largely for gutter tactics in pursuit of power that certainly do not show the United States in the best light to the rest of the world or as a positive example of democracy....the democracy he says he wants to spread throughout the middle east. He should at least try to salvage some of his dignity by bringing this horribly misguided campaign to a conclusion on a high note - but I fear he will not. Pity.

Is that how you see McCain's desperate effort to save our country?

Why don't you just go hang our candidates in effigy?

You should take a break and have a cup of tea. The country isn't what McCain's desperate effort is about. He himself has said you don't have to fear an Obama presidency, but when your blood is up, you don't want to hear it.

I almost feel sorry for McCain. Right-wing crazies have taken over his party like a cancer and he, although trying very hard to remain an honorable candidate, seems to be a pawn in their hands, in control of nothing.

Now this is truly great: when your opponent throws his best punch, you laugh in his face. I think Obama's joke and the crowds laughter is more relevant in this election than the hatred whipped up at the Palin rallies. Most of the country and most of the planet is laughing at McCain right now. When you become a joke in the eyes of the people, you're truly toast.

By the way, who benefits by the interest payments on the debt?

Bush ran the national debt up by five trillion.

Did you see any of it in your own lives, these past eight years?

Good question, SCG. If the government "loaned" out the money, would the Department of Treasury received the interest payments? Or did they go through a private banking system?

Ahem, Ahem, Sounds of a throat being cleared...

The Congress handles the purse strings people.
Bush can only suggest what he'd like.

Nobody twisted the congress collective arm.
For the last eight years, the dems have had the power to stop any spending bill they wanted to stop.

In 2006 you gave the dems direct instructions to stop the war and cut back the spending. At least that's what they promised you to get elected. They did neither. They wanted those two issues to still exist for this election cycle.

Who's hurting now because of democrat political strategies?

I smiled when I watched a video, and heard Senator Obama mock socialist attacks - with the story he shared his toys in kindergarten - and maybe McCain will call him a socialist (or communist) for that. I remember when the kids shared cupcakes in elementary school. Kinda makes those attackers (haters) look a bit foolish after all.
