Barack Obama continued his media blitz tonight with an appearance on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Obama's appearance comes on the heels of his half hour long infomercial which ran in prime time tonight on several major networks, as well as some cable networks. Watch clips of Obama from his interview, including the candidate conceding the "Sean Hannity vote," and how Obama has been undergoing therapy to ensure that his white half doesn't prevent him from voting for himself.

Obama was poised and witty. Stewart's laughter sounded obsequious.

He's just a mixed up kid....

Heard one person being interviewed today say that she is so happy because this will be the
first black family that we will all see since the Huxtabels (Bill Cosby's show) were on TV. and
she said that this was only just a made for TV family.

If he happens to lose this election, some of these voters sound like they will have a nervous
break down....

I fail to see what they see. No matter who gets elected...the world (as we know It) will not change
on Jan 21. Too many things going on and as slow as Congress works, it will take the next 4 years
to even get a start on the promises made by B. Obama.

That says more about you than the other person that you cannot perceive the inherent decency or intelligence in O'bama.

Only what you hear....or is that...what you want to hear.

You're just a messed up kid. It's quiet obvious that we've got a whole lot going on in this country. That is the reason why we need someone with a brain. As far as the voters you're speaking of, they understand the historical significance of this election and it's as simple as that.

We're all optimistic and hope that this country picks the right man for the job this time around. Your attitude is self destructive barry or is this you Sarah?

I stayed up late to watch this last night then fell asleep!! ARGH! Thanks for posting it here...I would hate to have missed it twice:(
John Stewart is a genius and Obama is lucky that everyone who watches Stewart get the jokes and will be voting for him! The one thing above all else the Republicans seem to lack the most is a sense of humor...even with "the pale one" being on SNL...it was ok, but it did nothing for her or her sad ass party!

Me too! And I just laugh and laugh thinking that on November 5, 2008, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O, Laura Ingrams, Ann Coulter and the rest of the un-named minions of Rupert Murdock will awake to the sounds of 'Barack Hussein Obama, the 44th president of the United States of America.'

I watched Obama and he was magnanimous, statesmanlike, funny and personable. He will be a transformational President unlike the piss poor sorry excuse for one that we've had to endure over the last 8 years.

As for Fox....they are one of the most biased, deeply partisan and non-journalistic broadcast stations on the planet! I can't imagine a more propagandist organization....right up there with state sponsored television in communist countries!

If comedians take Obama's half black, half white ethnicity and use that for fodder...it could be a unique opening for black and white America to begin dialogue. I can see DL and Jon goin' to town w/ some funn material...

It isn't "ethnicity" -- which applies to nationality. It is RACE.

Name one scientist in the entire world....from here to even those in Peking, China...that believes that there is more than one race. Yes, even COMMUNIST CHINA recognizes that there is only one single race.

"Race" is the biggest myth mankind ever invented. It's not our fault that we have been brainwashed into believing in this BS as we have had a tortured history. And, our parents and teachers fed us this crap.

But, we really need to listen to what every scientist from Nashville to Berlin has been saying for years: Race does not exist....It never did.

It's tough to swallow. But, it's the absolute truth.

Actually, these terms are all rather artificial when you realize that according to 19th century European imperialists, there was a French race, a German race, an Italian race, a British race, etc. etc. They saw no difference. Don't ask me whether one is more correct that the other. It's perception; all of it is perception. Why is a dark man of a different "race" than me? Is his dna more like some other non-human? I don't think so. Am I more like that? I don't think so. Therefore, it is all parsing of humans for trivial qualities. Do we consider white cats and black cats to be different feline "races"? Nope, they're both cats, otherwise my tortie tabby (many colors) is a lot of different "races." See what I mean?

Nationality is your nation, regardless of ethnicity...

I used the the term ethnicity because I don't believe in race. Race is a political construct. There are supposedly only three: Mongoloid, Negroid and Caucazoid. And if you lQQk @ the various groups around the world and their supposed classifications, it doesn 't work, example after example. I don't use 'people of color' 'cause every person is 'of color' and its usage typically merely excludes white people, which defeats the purpose of inclussiveness.

Humor, used well, can open up dialogue between groups. In that respect, Barack being half and half allows for unique opportunity to open up a vast area for education of all...

The "one drop rule" works the way the invoker of the rule wants it to -- which makes it non-logical to start with, even outside of any question of agreement with scientific principles.

I have more than a drop of Norwegian blood in me; does that make me Norwegian? Not for daily practical purposes, no -- but that might change if/when we go to war with Norway.

I prefer the practical argument: that the more people on the planet respecting and valuing each other's welfare, the more we will/can see that my interests are your interests, and yours mine. When I find I can act in everyone's interest, I'm ever so much happier than if I seek to act only in my own.

One example of this is voting. Being part of the vanishing statistic, my own personal reward from actually casting one vote is, um, low. But the fact that I cast it, is of great value, because this I do for everyone. Democracy IS everyone being informed, discussing, and then choosing. When everyone does this, democracy works.

I've seen it work; and I've seen it fail.

I like the 'working' thing.

Obama was great in that interview. One reason I hope he's elected is because minorities won't really be minorities anymore-in a sense.

This nation will view itself as it is-a diverse nation full of talented individuals of all ethnicities.

AH atomics. Nobody in the states flinched when Bush gave a sweet nuclear trade deal to India, a country that never signed the non-proliferation treaty and developed the A-bomb on the sly, testing in the 60s and again in the lates 90s. Iran holding one might be preferable to the swaggering of the Israeli hawk, up in the mushroom clouds. Mutually assured destruction did work for a time.

How come no matter what, if a man is half black, people call him black? Secondly, why would that even be a bad thing?

"How come no matter what, if a man is half black, people call him black?"

Because he's not...white? More accurately, that man would be bi-racial. Now, in Barack Obama's case, he absolutely, positively IS an African-American. Or, if you will, Kenyan-American. How 'bout, Kenyan-Kansan? I expect to call him Mr. President.

"Secondly, why would that even be a bad thing?"

It's a bad thing? Well, I'm sure that our less-than-enlightened countrymen would agree, but that's a whole 'nother story.

This is a really good question that I've often wondered myself. He's as much white as he is black. Why isn't he considered white instead of black? 6 one way, half dozen the other.

Racism.

But if one looks at genetics, one finds weaknesses in the male chromosome which or compensated for on the female chromosome. So he's white.

apwerner

He likely defined himself based on his experiences and what group was most accepting of him. Growing up 'black' in the 60's & 70's anywhere in the Northern hemisphere was harrowing (speaking from experience).
I know he found himself accepted and thus, more comfortable, among blacks while growing up. And it's a testament to who he is that he has really transcended the racial divide within himself. He is a man who seems comfortable in his own skin.
