Tina Fey

Tina Fey appeared on Conan Tuesday night and talked about 3-year-old daughter Alice, having Sarah Palin at SNL with her pregnant daughter Bristol and how great it was to hug Oprah on camera for "30 Rock." (Hugging Oprah is "everything you want it to be... it's like going to a spa for a week.")

According to Fey, when Sarah Palin ("she was nice") guested on "Saturday Night Live," she asked Fey where Alice had gone as the show approached. Fey told Conan:

"Gov. Palin was like, 'Oh did Alice go home? Oh, cause Bristol woulda babysat.' She offered Bristol Palin to babysit Alice... And it was Bristol's birthday, too. I was like yeah, that's exactly what 17-year-old Bristol Palin wants to do at SNL is babysit the toddler of the lady that gooks on her mom... but they're a nice family"

Also, Alice gets confused telling Sarah Palin and Tina Fey apart, and Fey let Alice watch "Psycho.

I can't for the life of me see where Tina Fey is crapping on Palin. She says she's nice and that they're a nice family...and then points out that Bristol may not want to babysit in NYC on her 18th birthday.. and she's right. But that's not crapping on Palin or her family - it's thinking of an 18 year old and being funny about it.

Exactly. It also is interesting to see how Sarah just assumed Tina's young daughter would still be up at that hour, and not have the welfare of her little one already figured out. Like Alice would just be hanging out, waiting on any stranger whose Mom offers them up to babysit, to take care of her. Pretty assumptive don't ya think? Maybe that's Palin's world but obviously there are Moms out there who put more thought into it.

Because she did nothing wrong in "this" article. Just because you don't like her, doesn't mean "everything" she says or does is something you should hate. I have kids, and sitting is a normal part of life and conversation with parents. She did nothing wrong in this particular article.

Sorry, but I have to disagree that she did "nothing wrong". Just because you like her, doesn't mean "everything" she does or says is something you just adore. I grew up the oldest child in a family of four children. I spent ALL of my childhood taking care of my three sisters. When others were going out on dates or to the mall, etc., etc., I was babysitting. Believe me, this is a huge burden to place upon the shoulders of a teenager (and even younger, in Palin's case).

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with chores or helping out in the family. All family members should be responsible for doing their share. But to use one of your children as a 'built-in" babysitter, so you can get on with YOUR life, is wrong. I saw this from the first moment that John McCain introduced her as his running mate. She was responsible for the youngest child, even then. Then, practically every time you saw Palin, Bristol was responsible for the other kids, especially the baby. Now, maybe rumors are correct, and Bristol IS the child's real mother, in that case, he IS HER responsibility. But, in THAT case, Sarah Palin is guilty of perpetuating a complete lie to the American people! Which is it, Schnides?

Why not? Just because you disagree with her on fundamental issues doesn't make her a bad person or mother. Plenty of teenagers babysit. I can't believe this is actually newsworthy on this over-the-top bias web site.

No what makes her a bad person to some of us is her unethical behavior and the hate and lies she spews on the campaign trail.

Should not the 17-year-old be at school?
It would be fun to ask Palin how many books they have at home (phone book included)... Her audacity stinks of ignorance.

Gross because I don't know if I'd be confident in her maturity, decision making skills, or ability to run after toddler were she to escape, and, as Fey said, I'm sure there are other things she really would like to do as a knocked up kid on her 18th birthday. Being so young and pregnant and under constant scrutiny has to suck, so everything about the situation is probably a little gross for Bristol, too.

On the other hand, completely reasonable and very responsible motherly request from Palin for her daughter. Since she's about to have a baby, it is good for her to watch and be alone with other children to practice for her own. Were my niece or daughter to get pregnant, I'd probably offer them up, too. I don't think Palin is a bad mom for her daughter's situation, because it can happen to anyone. And it is probably more likely to happen when you're teaching abstinence only instead of being realistic and putting your teenage daughter with a serious boyfriend on the pill.

I can make a distinction between Palin the mother and Palin the politician. One is waaaaay worse than the other.

Trashing Sarah Palin for being 'motherly' and 'family-like' and saying her daughter could babysit - as a gesture of familiarity while at SNL - trashing her for that is just very low class.

I'm a very very very progressive Dem - but I'm calling BS on this because it's just really low class.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:10 PM on 10/29/2008

Are you serious? No one was trashing anybody. Tina Fey makes a valid, albeit frivolous point. A 17year old girl comes to NYC and gets the privilege of visiting the set of "SNL" and you think she wants to babysit? God knows, given her condition, she probably needs the practice, but why would she want to babysit someone a stranger's child when she could be having fun?! Maybe Palin should take a crack at babysitting if she thinks it's such a party. She could probably use the practice, as well.

OH MY GOD so not that serious people!! I'm pretty sure Bristol ain't doing nothing else backstage while her mother's on tv!! GOsh I've been asked to babysit at many parties if there were kids around and it was nighttime... not that uncommon for people with big families....you people act like its a sin to NOT hate Palin every second of every day of my life. I have my issues with her and her policies and lack of qualifications as vp, but before this election I never hated her because I didn't know her. Move on people, just six more days....

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:31 PM on 10/29/2008

I think Tina probably has her girlfriend as a back up babysitter like most moms do. Someone the child is familiar with. And I do not really find it approriate to for someone who is a guest on the show(green room) to be watching a child when they don't know that child. But I'm very protective of my kids, 17 year old pregnant and a stranger. No thankyou.

How? How does she exploit them? By bringing them out on stage with her? She isn't making them do interviews and stump speeches. Perhaps they want to be out there. Or perhaps she wants her family with her.

From Fey's interview, I don't see how or where Palin "exploited" her children at SNL...yeah, I'm convinced she has on other instances but here, I think you guys are just looking for a reason to hate her. Let's let the *other* party do that, people.

Wow wow wow people!!!! Are you seriously such an idiot that you are going to bash Palin for this??? There are valid reasons to bash her, but now you're all on the hate train and will pick her apart and accuse her of things that didn't happen. And you wonder why she won't talk to the media....it's because of YOU judging EVERY breath she takes. What, are some SAINT that NEVER syas or does the wrong thing? And when you do nothing wrong such as the above article, how would like the world to BASH you for NOTHING??? Shut up and get a life instead of finding ANYTHING you can to down-talk a human for something that happened while you weren't even THERE to have an opinion.

Maybe she should be like Michelle O and turn off her big mouth so the public will like her momentarilly. Then, if in office as First Lady, the acting is over and the arrogant mouth will scream at America. She has never been proud to be an American, so why would she now or in the future? Focus on issues instead of picking apart an innocent gesture.

WHOA....hold up there.

Palin isn't FIT to shine Michelle Obama's pay less shoes.

Michelle Obama IS the poster child for CLASS.

Palin is a low level, low IQ'd, backstabbing, unethical witch who lies and stirs up trouble.

She's the chick in H.S. that started nasty rumors about other people to make herself look better. And she carried that trait right into the Mayor's office.

So then dislike her for THAT stuff instead of bashing her for offering a sitter for Fey's child, who has done nothing but ridicule Palin on SNL. It's these little nick-picks that annoy me. There are plenty of issues to discuss, and this isn't one of them.

As far as Michelle. I said that because the Dem party felt Michelle was a liability to them with her big mouth. She's no saint at all and was asked to keep quiet during the campaign. Once it's over, she will open up again. Last I checked, she wasn't running for Pres, Barack is. Looking at her past, it appears that she doesn't like white people just as people say Sarah is all about white people. I've never met Michelle and can not say too much other than what I've read about her. And yes, I did read her thesis. Not sure what she's complaining about as far as far as the amount of white people at Harvard. She was blessed to be there as all other students, yet still finds negative in her Harvard law school days simply because there were more white people there than black. Sorry, but if you're blessed to attend Harvard, stop crying because the race of students was not equal.

Thanks! I appreciate the compliment. This prediction was easy though. Obama will win, the "big change" will be "very little change", you, me, and the rest of the people will still be in the same boat financially unless "we, our selves" find a way to better our lives, if there's free health care...who will pay for it, and we'll have a brilliant man as President....but will get devoured by with foreign policy.

Wonderful! Let's focus on issues:
Is Palin for free health care for pregnant mothers and babies?
Does she care about clean water and clean air for our kids so that they did not suffer terrible chronic illnesses because of the unregulated pollution?
Does she care that every child needs a good education?
Where would she find money to support these social programs? - But Palin is indeed nicely dressed

The title implies that pregnant women are unfit to babysit. Of course, we would not want unwed mother Bristol to influence Tina Fey's baby in a negative fashion. We would hate for the baby to grow up to be an unwed parent to a child since that is so uncommon in NYC and in Hollywood. I actually thought it was a badge of honor. Silly me. Except that it is so for everyone EXCEPT anyone who is conservative.

And what would Bristol teach Alice? According to her mom the earth is 6000 years old, Jesus gave kids pony rides on dinosaurs, people with funny names pal around with terrorists and rape victims should have to pay for their examination kits.

I wouldn't want her or any of the Palins anywhere near my daughter.

I've seen the Obama children at different events too. I just assumed that the Obama's wanted to have the family together. Maybe, now juuuuuuust maybe Sarah wants her family with her. This is a fairly historic moment in American History and for Palin.
