Senator James Inhofe, R- O.K., has been mentioned as a possible pick for Secretary of Energy in a McCain administration.
Sen. Inhofe is part of Grist's list as a potential pick for McCain Secretary of Energy spot since they have very similar records. Salon.com said:
The facts are clear. All you have to do is look at his voting record. It reveals that McCain has long been one of the strongest opponents of clean energy in Congress, with a record matching that of James Inhofe, the most hardcore global-warming denier in the Senate, who comes from the heart of the oil patch in Oklahoma.
However, since he is the one of the most critical voices of global warming's exisence, many assume the Democratic majority Senate will not confirm him.
From Sen. James Inhofe's bio:
Jim considers one of his unique qualifications for office to be the 30 years he's spent in the business community being over regulated by the federal bureaucracy.
During his tenure in Congress, Jim has forged a distinguished legislative record on a diverse range of issues: surface transportation and highway funding; environmental regulation and land management; strengthening and supporting America's national defense; rural education funding; and improving America's energy independence.
As chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, Jim played a key role in passage of the 2005 Highway Bill, shepherding the important legislation through the U.S. Senate.
