Think Progress:

Today from 12:30-1:45 p.m., the New America Foundation and Wired magazine were scheduled to host an event on tech policy with top McCain adviser Douglas Holtz-Eakin v. Obama adviser and former FCC chairman Reed Hundt. Holtz-Eakin, however, never showed up. From a notice on the New America Foundation's website:

NOTE: Due to a last-minute scheduling conflict, Douglas Holtz-Eakin is unable to participate in today's event, and the McCain campaign will not be sending an alternate spokesperson. The event will proceed as scheduled with Reed Hundt representing the Obama campaign.

I do not understand why young people are not voting. Call every young person you know and tell them to vote. Its their future to.

Even Campbell Brown was outrage.

These guys give incompetence new meaning! How have they managed to stay as high up in the polls ?? Does this mean that if they were a competent team selling these to noodle-heads, they would have won?? Seems weird to me...

What was his "tech" advisor going to discuss? The advantages of "White-Out" over correction tape when you make a typo on your typewriter?

Sad,sad,sad......Last night I watched a campgain event in ohio ....when mccain climbed the stage ,repeatedly called on joe the plumber....but no joe the plumber was there....joe also didn't show at the event....mccain still beleive he is in the race while his rival about to cross the finish line......is he dreaming ?i feel sorry when i see him holding to a straw called joe the plumber , when joe the plumber is somewhere busy signing contract for album that contains songs about his experience in the world of cheap politics.....little advise for john : quit torturing yourself in a lost political battles , retire with grace and go spend and enjoy whatever remains of your life in your desert ranch and realize that this is not your era , its your childern and grandchildern era .you can't apply your 20th century tools in the 21st century ....its completely different era ,different issues and different tools . wish you the best .

Holtz-Eakin hardly ever has anything useful to say!

His only memorable line he has had is that "McCain invented the BlackBerry!"

This guy, Douglas Holtz-Eakin, McCain's putative economic adviser, is a paragon of ineptitude. He's helped dig McCain's grave with his tin ear and vapid on-air commentary. He's also been unfailingly wrong on every economic stance he's taken, including those he made professionally before the crash. Glad the Republicans have him , they deserve him.

It was so weird. I was researching tax policy a couple days ago and I found a big policy paper by this wanker. He is a bigger laugh than the Laffer curve,

LISTEN ALL: Please Go Vote! There has been confirmed reports of voting fraud with the Republican Party and its supporters. Obama is need of all the votes necessary to create a landslide. Let's make sure that our state turns blue! Voting is a right and a privilege. Let's all make history together! (wouldn't you be proud to tell your kid(s) that you contributed to history 1 year from now, 5 years from now, 10 years from now or 20 years from now? - I surely would.)

Too bad this -- and the fact that the McCain campaign skipped out on answering a questionnaire about his policies towards the textile industry (sponsored by the National Council of Textile Organizations) -- will not be examined closely by mainstream media as it should. Most of the basic textile jobs that southern states relied upon have long gone overseas to China, and Obama's responses (which can be found at http://www.ncto.org/) attempt to address the unfair economic advantage that China currently has in the textile industry.

Why McCain did not ask Carly Fiorina to step up to the plate at the tech forum is a mystery, although she probably wouldn't have helped matters any. Seeing as Hewlett Packard is only managed in the US -- most of their products are no longer made here -- and her presiding over the acquisition of Compaq turned out to be her undoing. HP's strongest markets had always been its printer and medical technology products, but Fiorina did not have the vision to lead HP in a way needed for a viable technology company, because like Meg from eBay, she was simply a corporate manager, not a creative generator.

He did not answer the NEA's questionnaire either, I think his indifference to taking 15-25 mins. to answer these really shows where he stands in regards to the issues facing poor, working and middle class Americans, (or what is left after the last 8 years.)

Hmmmm.... What was the emergency that I missed? McCain had to suspend his campaign and fly into Katie Couric's airspace?

I missed something.

Or maybe Putin flew into Sarah Palin's airspace and the McCain campaign had to suspend their campaign and fly to Anchorage to solve the crisis.

They realized, after conferring ith their candidate, that the McCain campaign did not understand technology, so why discuss it?

Hey, now don't go knockin' John McCain, my friends, cause, you know, because John McCain DOES understand technology. I hear he's pretty handy with "The Google," and "The E-mail," and many other newfangled thing-a-ma-jigs. After all, it was only a matter of time before somebody figured out that if you hook up an electronical typewriter with a television that you could make a computer. it's just another testament to the strength of the the American worker, from the Real America, like our good good friend Joe The Plumber, that keep the fundamentals of the American economy strong.
