I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The most cringe-worthy political moment of the day, so far, came when Sen. John McCain called out for his new buddy Joe the Plumber to stand up at a rally in Ohio, only to be greeted with confused silence. Joe the Plumber wasn't there.

But that rally featured another embarrassing moment, one that illustrates a far more troubling dynamic for the Republican ticket. The McCain campaign actually had to bus in school kids from the surrounding area in order to fill the event. As reported by MSNBC:

A local school district official confirmed after the event that of the 6,000 people estimated by the fire marshal to be in attendance this morning, more than 4,000 were bused in from schools in the area. The entire 2,500-student Defiance School District was in attendance, the official said, in addition to at least three other schools from neighboring districts, one of which sent 14 buses.

This happened -- as if a reminder were needed -- less than a week out from the election, when the heat of the campaign should be drawing record crowds.

Poor kids, some didn't have adequate coats on for the cold PA morning.
Watch the video on MSNBC, some of them look miserable.

Where are Senator McCain's children? There is a time for intervening to save his dignity and I keep looking to see one of his sons appearing on stage, holding him by the hand and saying "its over dad, come on home. Everything is going to be all right." I can't believe the things I hear coming out of his mouth these days.

Did she really promise those kids something? If it's a joke hahah, if its serious, they actually deserve it after being put through the ringer. I wonder what was going through the minds of those kids there that were for Obama. Unbelievable

For me, it was like watching Britney Spears shave her head. It was the point where I stopped laughing and started to feel embarrassment.

I think there are laws that prohibit school districts and students from direct participation in political campaigns during school hours.

pa-the-tic... the kids are not even old enough to vote...

LISTEN ALL: Please Go Vote! There has been confirmed reports of voting fraud with the Republican Party and its supporters. Obama is need of all the votes necessary to create a landslide. Let's make sure that our state turns blue! Voting is a right and a privilege. Let's all make history together! (wouldn't you be proud to tell your kid(s) that you contributed to history 1 year from now, 5 years from now, 10 years from now or 20 years from now? - I surely would.)

Wonder if the kids felt all the bumps of the bus rolling over all the people who've been throw under?

I hope the school district got notes from these kids parents. Where I live, you can't take children on a field trip without express written consent of their parents.

High school kids? Oh now that's just sad...For the kids! They were probably told they were going to see Obama.

School kids compelled to attend a political rally, sounds like the McCain Youth to me!

Does that qualify as child abuse?

I agree. McCain REALLY needs to stop making the quotation mark sign with his short, stubby, wrinkly, fingers. It makes him look like he has claws.

He also needs to cut his nails..his hands are creepy enough, but the Dracula look is really disturbing. Some people have spider or even clown phobias. My phobia is men with long nails. Just wrong and gross. Hey McCain...Howard Hughes called. He wants his fingernails back. Yeah, I know that was lame, but I haven't slept in 13 months, so it was the best I could do.
