MoveOn.org is hoping to push Barack Obama over the hump in John McCain's home state with an ad that features a lifetime Republican and U.S. Air Force member endorsing the Illinois Democrat.

"I'm a Veteran, I served under President Ronald Reagan and under the first President Bush. I've been a Republican since before I could actually vote," says Staff Sergeant US Air Force John Weiler, adding: "We need somebody in the White House that is strong. We need somebody who's gonna represent the left and the right, the Democrat and the Republican, everybody. I'm a lifelong Republican and I'm voting for Barack Obama."

The spot, titled "Obamacan," will start airing on Arizona's broadcast and cable stations this Friday, according to the group.

At the same time, the Obama campaign emailed supporters in the Copper State on Thursday, organizing volunteers for a get-out-the-vote drive.

"The fact that John McCain's home state, a traditional red state, is now in play with 5 days left until the election speaks to the real power of Obama to reach across party lines and speak to all Americans," said Eli Pariser, MoveOn's Executive Director. "The entire country is ready for a change of direction, and this ad speaks directly to voters who are ready to become a part of that change."

The ad was the winning entry from more than 1,000 submissions to MoveOn's "Obama in 30 Seconds" ad contest earlier this year.

Landslide good. WIN better. I don't care how Obama wins, by what margin, just as long as he does.

In Australia, voting is compulsary which is a good way to make people here exercise their constitutional right. It's bad for democracy when the government made voting such a hassle with long lines, malfunction machines, frauds, fake flyers notified voters of going to vote the day after!

This would be the ultimate backlash for all of the negative campaigning. I don't know how one expects to govern when you have won an election by deception and negativity. How do you even respect a person like this and OMG, the thought of Sarah Palin running this country is a very scarey thing. Other countries must be laughing so hard at us.

Don't worry, we are not laughing at this moment. The whole world is looking in suspense at the US, eargerly awaiting November 4 and hoping that change will really come in the persons of Barck Obama and Joe Biden.

The only way the world will laugh(and cry at the same time) is when we wake up on November 5 (The Netherlands has a time-difference of 6 hours with th US east coast) and we hear that McCain has won.

I hope and pray that that will not happen. Not once more!

Everybody get off your couch and go vote! This will not happen without you! Don't be Joe the Plumber and run your mouth about your big dreams and then never do anything about it! You can be a success in your own mind like Joe Wurzelbacher or you can go top the polls and vote and make your dreams come true. Make a plan of action and follow through. Volunteer for Obama AND VOTE ! Even if Obama does win, he will need a friendly Congress and Senate to get things changed. Those people need your vote . THIS IS NOT IN THE BAG!>

Obama should visit AZ if time permits! Preface this with VOTE OBAMA NOW!

McCain should worry about 8 STATES that have moved toward Obama:

AZ, GA, KY, KS, MS, MT, SD, and WV

And these 5 states may go to Obama in a landslide election:

AK, SC, TX, AR, and LA

McCain has a good hold on only 7 states:

AL, ID, NE, OK, TN, UT, and WY

This could be 1964 all over again when a WAR LOVING ARIZONA Republican Goldwater won 52 Electoral Votes.

Check that! Obama has people in NE and he might take it, last I heard.... Long shot, but NE Republicans are more of the centrist variety, after all...

IMPORTANT to the WESTERN US... no matter what the television anchors say on election night, you MUST GO VOTE. Even if they call it in the bag early for Obama... STILL GO VOTE.

We need a huge mandate, and those Democratic senators/congressmen down ticket are very important.

PLEASE. Don't give up, just because you think Obama "might" have already won!

well said!! As a Californian, I'm really hoping they call it early for Obama, but there are still so many issues for us like Props 8 and 4 and 2 that we still need to go to the polls. It's never a BAD idea to cast a vote! Our democracy depends on it.

ABSOLUTELY...if Obama loses California to complacency then McCain wins the election. California voters know how important CA is because it holds over 50EVs, which represent approx. 20 percent of the EVs Democrats need.

As a disenfranchised Mormon, I think I can promise you that any Democrat for Pres in UT will be voted in only when hell has frozen over.

LISTEN ALL: Please Go Vote! There has been confirmed reports of voting fraud with the Republican Party and its supporters. Obama is need of all the votes necessary to create a landslide. Let's make sure that our state turns blue! Voting is a right and a privilege. Let's all make history together! (wouldn't you be proud to tell your kid(s) that you contributed to history 1 year from now, 5 years from now, 10 years from now or 20 years from now? - I surely would.)

Absolutely, don't just be happy that Obama is going to be President, be a part of it. Make sure to cast your vote no matter what. You can't say you made it happen unless you truly do.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WANT OBAMA TO GO TO ARIZONA:

BAD IDEA

Makes Obama look arrogant to independents.

trust me on this, just work real hard to get Arizona by talking to the people there and telling him why you think Obama is a good candidate.

He can visit after the election, which is even better really.

I suppose you're right...this could really backfire.

I see what you are saying but this a national election and I would think any Presidential candidate would be completely within their rights to campaign in any and all states. It would be sad if some thought Obama did not have the right to campaign in Arizona just because McCain is the Senator of that state. The good people of Arizona are entitled to hear from both candidates just like the rest of us are.
