Peter Frampton Angry Over Obama Sign Theft

CINCINNATI — Rocker Peter Frampton is wishing someone would show him the way to keep his Barack Obama yard signs from getting swiped.

The Grammy winner is complaining that signs showing his preference for the Democratic presidential candidate have been stolen repeatedly at his home in the upscale and predominantly Republican Cincinnati suburb of Indian Hill.

Frampton, 58, is so angry, he called The Cincinnati Enquirer asking to be interviewed.

The British-born singer of "Show Me the Way" and other hits told the newspaper that one reason he became a U.S. citizen was so he could vote. Now, he says his American rights to free speech and political speech are being violated and it "bugs" him.

Frampton said he has installed a video camera to catch the thieves.

So let me show you the way to protect your Obama sign:
Point a security camera on the sign. It would set you back a couple of hundred dollars. And that's by far less than what I paid for your albums.
Here is another idea: Buy 100 signs. Put one up every time the old one is stolen.

The best story I've seen so far was a guy who woke up and his Obama sign was missing and a McCain sign was in it's place. So he gathered up a bunch of dog shite and piled it up on the McCain sign and placed it down on the ground in front of his new Obama sign.

I live in the same area of Ohio and I assume that Peter Frampton has never placed signs for a Democrat in his yard before because if he had he would know that Democrats go through approximately 5 or more yard signs per election. I am on my 4th Obama sign this election. I have to bring it into the garage at night and put it back out in the morning because the Democratic signs are stolen even in the middle of the day while my Republican neighbors never lose their signs to theft.

Sorry Peter, but that is the price of living in Southwestern Ohio. Since you are a newly active Democrat, welcome to the crowd. There are more of us here than you think, but a lot of them are not vocal since all of the local politics are dominated by Republicans and there is a price to be paid for being an outspoken Democrat in Cincinnati and the suburbs. (I have offered many families in the Maineville, Deerfield, and Mason area an Obama yard sign but they do not want to take the harassment from their families, neighbors, friends and coworkers.)

Unfortunately, all too true. The Republican old boys network runs all of the local townships and if you want to do business here, you either have to be low key or lie about your political preference (I have relatives who pretend to be Republicans for the sake of their jobs.)

It's funny that they don't see how childish it is to "steal" Obama signs. To me it means they are running scared. If McCain was ahead big time in the polls they wouldn't care.

Here's a little solace - I've heard that Barack Obama doesn't believe that much in yard signs. I'd like one though, as I'm sure everyone else does, to show my support.

This happened this year to me in northern California. My sign was up a week before the Democratic convention, and as the weeks wore on, McCain signs sprouted up in response, in addition to a few more Obama signs. But my sign went went missing last Thursday night...around the time reports on McCain losing ground was worrying the Republicans. All the McCain signs are still in place.

Incredible insecurities to cause such stupid, base actions.

I lived in Cincinnati for 14 years - although there are many good people there, it has a large ultraconservative community with racist and fascist tendencies. It is were Larry Flint was prosecuted, where the prosecutor who later became a judge and then sheriff is an absolute fascist - at press conferences he would have deputies standing behind him at attention like storm troopers...
