Peter Frampton Angry Over Obama Sign Theft

CINCINNATI — Rocker Peter Frampton is wishing someone would show him the way to keep his Barack Obama yard signs from getting swiped.

The Grammy winner is complaining that signs showing his preference for the Democratic presidential candidate have been stolen repeatedly at his home in the upscale and predominantly Republican Cincinnati suburb of Indian Hill.

Frampton, 58, is so angry, he called The Cincinnati Enquirer asking to be interviewed.

The British-born singer of "Show Me the Way" and other hits told the newspaper that one reason he became a U.S. citizen was so he could vote. Now, he says his American rights to free speech and political speech are being violated and it "bugs" him.

Frampton said he has installed a video camera to catch the thieves.

I'm 19. I've been a fan of Frampton for a long time, and I actually saw him at the Ryman in Nashville last year.

I get what you're saying though. My dad is a huge classic rock fan and I was raised listening to things like Frampton, so I'm probably in the minority for people my age. But it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen (and I've seen The Who, Santana, ZZ Top, The Stray Cats, John Fogerty, Styx, Kansas, Charlie Daniels, 38 Special, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr, you get the idea). The man is a guitar god.

I'll assume lastrefuge was just kidding, but please don't make excuses for young dolt's. I was born in '65, but I grew up perfectly aware who Big Bopper, Hank Williams, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Eddie Cochran, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, etc... were. And I didn't need the internet to do it.

Many young people that I notice today behave as if something occurred before their sacred birth, it's not worth recognition. Sounds like a recipe for future disaster.

This is a national problem not localized. I live in Gainesville GA and I had this done to me in 2004 and it is happening again with the Obama signs now. Working at the Democratic Hdqtrs. I heard that some people have had their signs taken 3-4 times. Republicans feel that they are the only ones who should have the right to express their voice.

Be careful about what you do to deter sign theft. We have all seen video by now of folks driving around stealing signs, and they are certainly old enough to know better, but there can be kids involved. There is a story out of North Carolina about a 9 year old boy getting shocked when taking a sign. Love the idea of vaseline or something similar just making it as messy as possible for someone to swipe a sign.

I was in the local democratic office today--SO MANY people came in to buy new signs because theirs had been stolen. One woman had the OBAMA bumper sticker taken off of her car and then they keyed it. What's with all the hate? Crazy, crazy.

This idiocy of stealing Obama or McCain signs or burning McCain signs or keying cars of those that show support to either candidate shows that there are a lot of people out there that don't take our country's freedoms seriously. They would rather abuse the rights that they have and turn to vandalism or worse to infringe on the rights of others. Both sides are guilty and both sides need to stop. Thank goodness this election is almost over, although, with these actions preceding the election, what will these idiots do AFTER the election is over if their party doesn't win? I fear both sides will resort to stupid actions in the days after the election if they don't win. The question is...how far will they go?

All over Missouri and Illinois--a SYSTEMATIC and repeated removal of only Obama signs. This must be sanctioned by the national McCain campaign because it's going on everywhere. They always think voters are so dumb. It will just galvanize Obama voters to work harder for their candidate.

I saw Peter Frampton at the hisitoric Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake Iowa last summer, and he was great.

I still have Frampton Comes Alive on cd, lp, and 8-track.

The first time I saw Frampton was when he was with Humble Pie. What a concert, they rocked! And dammmmmn, he was hot.

I remember when he sang Baby, I Love Your Way on Don Kirschner's Rock Concert. I swear he was looking at me when he sang it (LOL).

We put vasoline all around the edges and then sprayed the whole thing with "Fooey", a spray that discourages cats. It has a N ASTY taste and gets on your hands, in your face, etc.
