Peter Frampton Angry Over Obama Sign Theft

CINCINNATI — Rocker Peter Frampton is wishing someone would show him the way to keep his Barack Obama yard signs from getting swiped.

The Grammy winner is complaining that signs showing his preference for the Democratic presidential candidate have been stolen repeatedly at his home in the upscale and predominantly Republican Cincinnati suburb of Indian Hill.

Frampton, 58, is so angry, he called The Cincinnati Enquirer asking to be interviewed.

The British-born singer of "Show Me the Way" and other hits told the newspaper that one reason he became a U.S. citizen was so he could vote. Now, he says his American rights to free speech and political speech are being violated and it "bugs" him.

Frampton said he has installed a video camera to catch the thieves.

IMHO political sign stealing is, effectively, political terrorism, and should be punished by stiff crimes if the offenders are caught. It's purely anti-democratic and should carry the weight of the First Amendment, not just the lackluster misdemeanor charge, assuming anybody is ever actually caught.

Much as I hate seeing McCain signs in my neighborhood - and I see them all the time - I would never remove one or deface it. To me that's a crime.

here in CA we are under attack by UtahZealots who brought $30 million and there are YES on 8 signs everywhere - thousands of them.
Those signs make my blood boil and my heart ache -- but I would NEVER deface or steal them.

I agree! I feel like knocking on those doors and telling these people that they have a right to free speech, but so do I, and their signs offend me.

I remove the "yes on 8" signs that are in public right-of-way locations. I figure I am as much within my right to remove them as the guy was who put them there. Private property is a different story.

I have ti say I agree with you. When I see a Mc/Pal sign, I feel a knee-jerk instinct to yank it out, etc but I stop myself because I figure it's bad karma. Besides, one of those a-holez might have HIS sign booby-trapped like mine are. :D

I got rid of a couple of 102 signs, but they were taped OVER other people's signs around my campus, so I just figured I was un-defacing things. :)

Republicans steal elections, so why wouldn't they steal yard signs...they are merely proving who they are.
