Oh, dear. Michael Goldfarb, who's clearly better off blogging about ABBA and criticizing people for playing Dungeons and Dragons, just pooped his pants on national television. The McCain campaign is making a last ditch effort to make SCARY MUSLIM NOISES at Barack Obama, and since Goldfarb doesn't have any sort of reputation worth salvaging, it figures that he'd be doing duty here.

But CNN's Rick Sanchez calls Goldfarb out for the hypocrisy of hyping a sinister connection between Obama and a guy that McCain funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars to, and from there, Goldfarb goes right off the rails, refusing to answer Sanchez's questions with anything other than intimations. Repeatedly asked to name a second anti-Semite that Obama allegedly "pals around with," Goldfarb does nothing but issue hollow, Page Six-style intimations.

What a gutless wonder. And here I'd been led to believe that this campaign took its cues from some kind of war hero.

[WATCH.]

SANCHEZ: Now, is the -- I need to parse this out as best I can from you, Michael. The fact that John McCain's organization gave $448,000 to this group that was founded by Mr. Khalidi, is there no reason for some to be critical of as well just as some might be critical of Barack Obama for being at a meeting with some girl read a poem for example?

GOLDFARB: Look. You are missing the point again, Rick. The point is that Barack Obama has a long track record of being around anti-Semitic and anti-Israel and anti-American rhetoric.

SANCHEZ: Can you name one other person besides Khalidi who he hangs around that is anti-Semitic?

GOLDFARB: Yes, he pals around with William Ayers.

SANCHEZ: No, no, the question I asked you is that can you name one other person who he hangs around with who is anti-Semitic? Because that is what you said.

GOLDFARB: Look, we know there are people who Barack Obama has been in hot water--

SANCHEZ: Michael, I asked you the name one person. One.

GOLDFARB: Rick --

SANCHEZ: You said he hangs around with people who are anti-Semitic. Okay. Khalidi and name other people that we all know about?

GOLDFARB: And rick, we both know who number two is.

SANCHEZ: Who? Would you tell us?

GOLDFARB: No, Rick, I think we all know who we are talking about here.

SANCHEZ: Somebody who is anti-Semitic that he hangs around with.

GOLDFARB: I think we all know who we are talking about.

SANCHEZ: Say it.

GOLDFARB: I think we all know who we're talking about, rick.

SANCHEZ: Well, you say that his policies differ from Barack Obama and many other people, and either way, we have the leave it at that.

Oh, dear. Michael Goldfarb, who's clearly better off blogging about ABBA and criticizing people for playing Dungeons and Dragons, just pooped his pants on national television. The McCain campaign is...

Do you understand how stupid it is to be afraid?

A lot of these right-wing zealots fold under simple cross-examination; deceit and invective are really the only goods they have to sell.

Reminds me of what William Gaines once said about his grand creation, "Mad" Magazine. He said their brand of satire was like throwing a rotten tomato at a brick wall. If it really is a brick wall, nothing will happen. If the brick wall falls over, because of one rotten tomato, you ought to wonder what was keeping it up in the first place...

The McCain campaign doesn't have a leg to stand on. They are flat out lying and luckily Sanchez called them out for it.

Good job Rick Sanchez

The GOP loves to claim media bias on account of encounters such as this one with Rick Sanchez but in fact Rick Sanchez is just doing his job reporting the news by pointing out all the discrepancies and outright lies issued by the McCain campaign. Michael Goldfarb is a blowhard bag of wind and Rick Sanchez called him on it.

Will we never be able to unite and choose a leader liked by everyone? Why can't we find a "Perfect Leader"?
I also found a video that brings up these questions, and gives an interesting answer to them:

I like this video just because whenever I watch it, it reminds me of Keith Olbermann's commentary on it..

Not a direct quote, but it was along the lines of "If you have never seen someone's career end on camera, stay tuned."

Has McCain been trying to mess up at every turn on this campaign?

is this guy for real?

More lies and the lying liars who tell them.

Disgusting. BTW, if you check out the companion clip to this, Rick Sanchez gets a quote from the Anti-Defamation League of B'Nai B'rith that says that they do not consider Rev. Wright an anti-Semite.

Just a little history on Mr. Goldfarb for those who may not already know:

Before working with the McCain campaign, Michael Goldfarb was a research associate with the Project for a New American Century (PNAC). This think tank, co-founded by William Kristol, is responsible for the neo-conservative ideology that led to the Iraq War.

If we are to believe McCain will be anything but another pawn, we are truly ignorant.
08:14 AM on 11/02/2008
UGHHHHH!!!! He worked for PNAC? How vile.

I saw this orignally and I thought he just looked like some nerdy computer geek, stammering and repeating himself idiotically when pressed for an answer. I wondered why and how he came to be a campaign spokesman. Now I know.

Speaks volumes about why McCain should never, ever be elected.

PNAC...is this an offshoot of the Military Industrial Complex that McCain is linked to?

Rich Sanchez missed a huge opportunity to pummel the truth out of that gutless bha haa...ing sheep; to set straight once and for all the fairy tale about Barack Obama and Prof. Ayers.

At least Sanchez did partially put him on the spot (unusual these days); however, the media has been all too ready to discuss a relationship between Ayers and Obama, instead of dismissing it out of hand with the truth about Obama's simply crossing paths with Prof. Ayers in a mutual charitable cause. The media should have dismissed the untrue smears a long time ago.

Let's not kid ourselves for one second. By not objecting, the media has been complicit in the filthy, dirty, immoral politics of untrue diversions started by Hillary Clinton and taken up with such dangerous vigor by Sarah Palin and John McCain. The media has enabled these "agents of intolerance" (to use John McCain's own words) to divert attention from the serious issues facing the country and send the primaries and this campaign into an ugly downward spiral, never before seen in the United States.

The shining light in this whole sordid tale is Barack Obama, who has never -- not once -- stooped to smear his opponents' characters with ugly, untrue innuendos, despite the barrage of slurs being hurled his way.

That is one of the many reasons why Barack Obama will be the next president of the United States.
09:14 AM on 11/02/2008
You are correct about the complicity of the press. They basically keep repeating the same mantras over and over. They never advance the conversation. You can turn the news on every day, and not notice much difference in the headline stories. For example, no one ever takes up the story of how Rev. Wright was quoting someone else when he gave that sermon saying "God damn America". Those were not his words, but rather someone elses. Why hasn't anyone spoken to that? The press has turned tabloid and all they live for are scandalous stories. Nothing is indepth or thought provoking. They aim to shut down all conversation and reflection.
Of course the goal is an uneducated, ignorant electorate who will nominate and support any puppet. i.e. Palin/McCain. Mavericks, ha! They really are two knee-jerk, powermongers, who are so power driven they are willing to take down an entire nation to win. Their motto, "Divided we win." Their quest to bring out the worst in the American people is shameful, and if nothing else should make people wake up. Do we really want to revisit the 60's? Haven't enough people suffered from hate, and poor treatment?
02:25 PM on 11/03/2008
You are telling the truth and nothing but the the truth:

"...the media has been complicit in the filthy, dirty, immoral politics of untrue diversions started by Hillary Clinton and taken up with such dangerous vigor by Sarah Palin and John McCain. The media has enabled these "agents of intolerance" (to use John McCain's own words) to divert attention from the serious issues facing the country and send the primaries and this campaign into an ugly downward spiral, never before seen in the United States."

Trouble is, so many don't even have a clue???

Rick Sanchez should have been far more forceful with this particular Troglodyte...he should never have given him a pass and he should have ended that interview by saying "When you get the true info you claim to have. we will interview you again" Why we are mollycoddling these Neo Nazis is the real question at hand. I have said this many times and I will repeat it yet again "When someones opinion is not based on facts...it is NOT valid" PERIOD!
12:51 AM on 11/02/2008
What are you talking about, it is called being professional. They all thank their guest. It is called being civil which we need more of. Sanchez was fully aware of what an ass this man just made of himself. He did not need to call out the obvious. Actually to end by being civil points out even more obviously how uncivil the McCain camp has been.
12:52 AM on 11/02/2008
I 100% agree. Why thank him for being on the show? He should have told him to get real or get the hell out of the studio.

Everyone's patting Sanchez on the back ... why? Any one of us could have handled this j*rk just as well. Why are we so impressed when a member of the press does his/her JOB? Because they rarely do, that's why.

It's pathetic that we're all so smitten with Campbell and Rick because they've bested total boobs.

At the end of the interview Rick thanked the twit effusively, probably worried about the retaliation from the McCain camp.

We don't have a free press. We have a paranoid press.

I agree ... the MEDIA has allowed Palin to get away with IGNORING them, and when she ignores them she ignores the people!! This is classic Cheney !!!

THREE DAYS TO GO AND STILL NO MEDICAL RECORDS FROM PALIN www.palindeception.com

"Dr. Baldwin-Johnson is a central figure in this entire story, yet has been almost completely silent and out of the public eye." Is she afraid that she may lose her license if the story turns out to be true??? YOU BETCHA she is, and she should be!!!!

Is Dr Baldwin-Johnson related to Levi .... Bristol's Baby Daddy?? Wasilla is a small town! Are they circling the wagons???

LOOKS LIKE IGNORING THIS ISSUE HAS WORKED !!!! THE MEDIA HAS NOT PRESSED HER ON OUR BEHALF AND NOW SHE IS GETTING AWAY WITH IT >>> ANOTHER BUSH/CHENEY TACTIC

IGNORE THE PEOPLE AND THEY GIVE UP!!!!

For a well-written and factual BLOG on why this is important .. take a few minutes to read THIS ... then write to all the NEWS agencies and DEMAND that they NOT LET PALIN GET AWAY with this!!

ONCE AGAIN: THE REPUBLICANS ARE MAKING FOOLS OF ALL OF US!!!!!!!!

This blogger makes sense! http://www.palindeception.com/ take a few minutes to read this

Surely the MEDIA have reporters who could have checked this out???
