I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Gpoldfarb

Oh, dear. Michael Goldfarb, who's clearly better off blogging about ABBA and criticizing people for playing Dungeons and Dragons, just pooped his pants on national television. The McCain campaign is making a last ditch effort to make SCARY MUSLIM NOISES at Barack Obama, and since Goldfarb doesn't have any sort of reputation worth salvaging, it figures that he'd be doing duty here.

But CNN's Rick Sanchez calls Goldfarb out for the hypocrisy of hyping a sinister connection between Obama and a guy that McCain funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars to, and from there, Goldfarb goes right off the rails, refusing to answer Sanchez's questions with anything other than intimations. Repeatedly asked to name a second anti-Semite that Obama allegedly "pals around with," Goldfarb does nothing but issue hollow, Page Six-style intimations.

What a gutless wonder. And here I'd been led to believe that this campaign took its cues from some kind of war hero.

[WATCH.]

SANCHEZ: Now, is the -- I need to parse this out as best I can from you, Michael. The fact that John McCain's organization gave $448,000 to this group that was founded by Mr. Khalidi, is there no reason for some to be critical of as well just as some might be critical of Barack Obama for being at a meeting with some girl read a poem for example?

GOLDFARB: Look. You are missing the point again, Rick. The point is that Barack Obama has a long track record of being around anti-Semitic and anti-Israel and anti-American rhetoric.

SANCHEZ: Can you name one other person besides Khalidi who he hangs around that is anti-Semitic?

Story continues below

GOLDFARB: Yes, he pals around with William Ayers.

SANCHEZ: No, no, the question I asked you is that can you name one other person who he hangs around with who is anti-Semitic? Because that is what you said.

GOLDFARB: Look, we know there are people who Barack Obama has been in hot water--

SANCHEZ: Michael, I asked you the name one person. One.

GOLDFARB: Rick --

SANCHEZ: You said he hangs around with people who are anti-Semitic. Okay. Khalidi and name other people that we all know about?

GOLDFARB: And rick, we both know who number two is.

SANCHEZ: Who? Would you tell us?

GOLDFARB: No, Rick, I think we all know who we are talking about here.

SANCHEZ: Somebody who is anti-Semitic that he hangs around with.

GOLDFARB: I think we all know who we are talking about.

SANCHEZ: Say it.

GOLDFARB: I think we all know who we're talking about, rick.

SANCHEZ: Well, you say that his policies differ from Barack Obama and many other people, and either way, we have the leave it at that.

Oh, dear. Michael Goldfarb, who's clearly better off blogging about ABBA and criticizing people for playing Dungeons and Dragons, just pooped his pants on national television. The McCain campaign is...

Wow. Goldfarb is the total GOP package.
He looks smug.
Makes vague accusations.
Doesn't answer questions.
Pretends to know what what he is talking about.
And, most importantly, he doesn't let a lack of knowledge get in the way of looking smug and making vague accusations.

The McCain/Palin campaign has been surreal to watch over the last few months....I have never seen a campaign so out of control, nasty, sleazy, ignorant and ugly as this one. I am appalled at what this campaign has put out there as far as lies upon lies day in and day out. Then you have Obama and Biden who are just getting out there everyday and running a fabulous campaign. The Obama/Biden campaign is like a well oiled machine that no one can stop......not even the nasty, no class, fear mongering McCain/Palin folks. If anyone has any common sense who to vote for is a no brainer, I can't believe anyone could still be undecided at this point. I feel badly for the moderate repubs that got stuck with these two, I really do, but they can vote for Obama/Biden at least and know what they are going to get since they run a pretty straight forward campaign....unlike the others.

Wow, no kidding, Hook! I am totally confounded as to what undecided voters don't get. I guess they are just not paying attention or are not smart enough to get past all the lies and sleaze.

Given the mix of things the GOP set out to do that backfired, the truly stupid things they thought they could finesse past the voters, and the Acts of God that nobody could have anticipated (Hurricane Gustav), I have to fall back more and more on my theory first developed and espoused months ago:

This whole election scenario is somehow being written from beyond the grave by Richard Pryor, because it reads like some of his best work. I mean, come on: a moose-hunting Alaskan for VP? Who gets busted for abuse of power before Election Day?

Who is he referring to, Hitler?? I'm sure he is! That will be their next line of attack.

Its so hypocritical - a party that has an extreme right full of bigots and racists is pointing the finger?

So Obama is anti-semitic, discrimnatory, elitist, a marxist and a socialist. It a bunch of oxymorons - from a bunch of morons. They can't even stick to a line of attack!!

Its a clear sign of discimination when you point at someone who is in a "minority" group and claim they are the one's being discriminatory. Its often an attack on their culture, ideas and beliefs - and the fact "they are not like us" - and you don't want to spend the time to try and understand. Its also a sign of - "shut up complaining and just put up with it".

Its a disgrace.

I have a new found, growing respect for Rick Sanchez. Throughout this campaign he has shown that he is willing press for answers from people who lack the courage to provide them (or who never truly had them in the first place). When I lived in Miami, I could not stand the guy, and when he left town I was ecstatic. Now, he seems to have become a far more insightful person, CNN has been good for him. Keep it up Rick, I'm impressed.

Probably has something to do with the fact that when journalists do press the people they are interviewing, they get loads of Atta' Boy emails from viewers like us.

I am pretty sure he was trying to make a Farrakhan association.

Oh that's probably right.

You know, I'm not really sure he was making the Farrakhan association. My guess is that there was no one else Goldfarb could name, or he was worried about libel and, therefore, wouldn't name the person. The anti-Semetic comments have been made about Farrakhan before, so I don't think Goldfarb was worried about a lawsuit there.

Since I've heard absolutely nothing else about any other anti-Semetic associations, even on the crazy right wing sites, I tend to believe that Goldfarb is just another sleazy, lying McCain rep.

Where does McCain dig these people out from? Never have I seen such toxic characters resorting to the lowest kind of smears that are totally fabricated. What McCain's camp is trying to convey here is vote for me not because I have good policies, but that the other guy is bad. Perhaps in 4 years time I may consider Republican ticket but this time around this toxic team needs to be told "Thanks but no thanks".

I am absolutely jaw-droppingly shocked that 40+ percent of American voters would vote for the McCain-Palin ticket. Is it me, or does everybody want to laugh at people with McCain-Palin signs in their yard? The campaign embarrassment apparently does not want to finish up with even a tiny bit of respect.

It’s sad to watch McCain and Palin increasingly lie and get in the mud. If he wins his presidency will reek with division, if he loses he well be tainted until he dies. The contrast between the 2 campaigns is striking.

I respect everybodys freedom of choice....do you not? Most of the people on this site have no respect for the fundamentals of our Democracy. That is just too bad. So take your ball and go home. And wait for your check from Obama.

The McCain campaign is burnt! Between Michael, Tucker, Rick & Nancy they are ALL idiots! They are forever getting called out and that's exactly what they deserve. It is wonderful to see they're camp implode because all of the smears, lies, distortions, & negative ads they've put out there have been the most deplorable thing I have ever witnessed in my life! The Word is true: you reap what you sow.
