Sarah Palin

236.com:

Sarah Palin is already prepping for the next one. Not baby (she's not pregnant, as far as we know), but election. The Sarah Palin 2012 movement is underway, and it makes perfect sense. Once she's dropped the stiff guy (John, not Todd, but maybe him, too), she can finally let Sarah be Sarah. Plus, by 2011 the nation will have been turned into a Marxist Madrassa, so her message about Obama might have a little more juice to it.

According to Politico, it's already being buzzed about. Greg Mueller, former aide to the presidential runs of Pat Buchanan and Steve Forbes says Palin gives the conservatives "hope" and "something to believe in."

How silly is the GOP willing to appear? How about Hasselbeck in 2016? Joe the Plumber for VP?

To get the presidential nomination in 2012, Sarah Palin has to get through the next four years. And during those next four years, the Republican Party has a hard, unpleasant choice to make.

Since the 1980s, the purists (neocons and religious nutjobs) have taken over the Republican Party. The moderate Republicans have been ignored, shouted down, or called "traitors." Well, now the purists, after eight years of getting what they wanted (Bush/Cheney) and getting a VP who was what they wanted, will get shot down in flames on November 4th. Utterly rejected at the polls, because of what the Republican purists did, what they said, and who they are.

The moderates will point out, in the next four years, that a moderate ticket (McCain and Colin Powell, McCain and Kay Bailey Hutchison) maybe could have gotten elected in 2008. And people saying this would be right.

Also, consider this: Stuff that Bush/Cheney has kept hidden, Obama will expose. A lot of Republicans will suffer hurt reputations in the next four years.

I see one of two things happening by 2012, with regards to the Republicans: 1) The moderates will be calling the shots, and SP, if she runs, will get knocked out early in the primaries. 2) The Republicans will split into two parties, with neither party being able to gain power just by itself; SP will be the nominee of the Whackjob Republicans, and will suffer an even worse humiliation the second time against Obama.

She'll likely get the boot in Alaska and join Dan Quayle in limbo. She hasn't got the staying power to make it to 2012.

Palin in 2012? Some people are giving her too much credit. True, she is a moderately savvy politician, but she also is blissfully ignorant about the inner-workings of anything beyond the borders of Alaska.

She has the faux folksy charm and lack of intellectual curiosity of George W. Bush and the Machiavellian mindset of Dick Cheney. Do we really want to relive the nightmare of the past 8 years?

Palin does have a skill set that lends itself to a fairly fruitful career in news broadcasting--specifically, she would be great at delivering the weather forecast for a local Alaskan TV station. "Today, Anchorage.......it will be COLD. (Brrrrrrrrr!) Tomorrow, it will be COLDER, doggone it. (Brrrrrrrrrrr!) Back to you, Frank."

No need to fear Palin. Here medical records will end it.

If by "conservatives" you leave out almost all principled conservative thinkers, writers, former and current office holders and godparents of the movement. If by "conservatives" you mean simply the 25% who still idolize W.
