Boehner

Politico:

House minority leader John Boehner's spokesman confirms the accuracy of this quote, from an Ohio student newspaper:

"Now, listen, I've voted 'present' two or three times in my entire 25-year political career, where there might have been a conflict of interest and I didn't feel like I should vote," Boehner said. "In Congress, we have a red button, a green button and a yellow button, alright. Green means 'yes,' red means 'no,' and yellow means you're a chicken s***.

"And the last thing we need in the White House, in the oval office, behind that big desk, is some chicken who wants to push this yellow button."

Just another in a long line of Repunlican name callers using bad language to deride anyone they don't like. Dick Cheney, John McCain. They're all the same. Mean people suck.

Someone who was too drunk to know how drunk he was and stood up blubbering and crying while trying to give a speech in the Senate, about god-only-knows-what, should keep his mouth shut. How is this man still in our government anyway. If we ever showed up to work in the shape he was in that day, we'd be fired or possibly sent to rehab. John Beyner (Beiner?) should be ousted-we do pay his salary; he's a waste of taxpayer's money.

John, honey, let me explain it to you using small words with as few syllables as possible:

A PRESENT VOTE IS A TYPE OF NO-VOTE IN THE ILLINOIS STATE SENATE.

It was Obama's way of saying a bill is flawed but has some merit.

Next time, do a little research before you open that yawning chasm of nothingness you call a mouth, John.

They should call it a Fix-It-and-I'll-Think-About-It vote so even Boehner will get it instead of jumping on the BS bandwagon.

Right-wing fundamentalists have to see everything as "yes" or "no". If you acknowledge a grey area, or something that needs more thought or reason, you are being "Postmodern" or "relativistic". Which they equate with "sin" and the inability to define truth.

Obama is educated enough to know and understand both of those big words. Boehner is not.

Boehner showed his WEAK abilities during the Financial Crisis!

He had no control over the Repubs, even though he pretented to have the necessary votes!

Of course, McCain probably did not help, but Boehner was full of it when he pretended to control the Repubs vote.

Anyway you slice it Boehner did not DELIVER!

That next week of delay cost Americans more than a Trillion Dollars as the Market TANKED!

And what does Boehner call handing out checks from Phillip Morris to Republican congressmen on the floor of the House of Representatives, as he did personally? Honorable? Patriotic? Or being a sleazy shill for Big Tobacco? Let's take a poll and find out what Americans think.

Maybe he sees the handwriting on the wall. The days of repug. rule are coming to an end. "Party Boy" John does not like it. Wasn't he golfing while the bail out bill was being voted on? These waste of space repugs. have ridden the gravy train for long enough. Someone said he was in the service for 2 weeks??? What was that about? McConnell, also, a matter of weeks. Hmm, what was wrong there?

Republican Uninformed: For the last time, Senator Barack Obama was not ducking his responsibility in the Illinois Senate when he voted “present” on many issues. Unlike Congress and the legislatures of most other states, each chamber of the Illinois Legislature requires a “constitutional majority” to pass a bill. The state Senate has 59 members, so it takes 30 affirmative votes. This makes a “present” vote the same as a no. If a bill receives 29 votes, but the rest of the senators vote “present,” it fails. In the Illinois Senate, there can be strategic reasons for voting “present” rather than simply no. A member might approve the intent of legislation, but not its scope or the way it has been drafted. A “present” vote can send a signal to a bill’s sponsors that the legislator might support an amended version. Voting “present” can also be a way to exercise fiscal restraint, without opposing the subject of the bill. Mr. Obama was an outspoken member of the Illinois Senate, and not someone known for dodging questions, whether they were on ethics, police responsibility, women’s choice or any other hot-button issue. Attempting to sway voters with this nonsense about "present" votes is old and meaningless. Obama/Biden '08

This is absolutely accurate...a present vote is an indication that the person voting present COULD support this bill if it were modified. A majority of "no" votes will kill a bill that could be passed if it is somehow modified. It's politics and the imbiciles that shovel this crap know how the system works, but they are relying on the ignorance of the majority of the population to make a specious argument.
