Chambliss

Via John Cole, the Politico reports on Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss' candid assessment of what motivates Republicans in his state:

The Republican is outwardly confident, but there's urgency in his voice as he tours North Georgia, trying to boost turnout in his predominately white base: "The other folks are voting," he bluntly tells supporters.

Just in case anyone was confused about who those "other folks" are, Chambliss gave this quote to the New York Times:

The development is not lost on Mr. Chambliss. "There has always been a rush to the polls by African-Americans early," he said at the square in Covington, a quick stop on a bus tour as the campaign entered its final week. He predicted the crowds of early voters would motivate Republicans to turn out. "It has also got our side energized, they see what is happening," he said.

Former Sen. Max Cleland, who was beaten by Chambliss in 2002, expressed concern in an interview with the Huffington Post about a "white backlash" to Barack Obama in the South. But he also touted the "historic numbers in terms of registration, African-Americans and young people" that is changing the region's political landscape in "fundamental" ways.

If there is a runoff in Georgia for the Senate seat, please remember to donate to Jim Martin so that we can retire this sorry man from national politics.

Chambliss is part of the Bush-Cheney Republican Problem:
________________________________________________

THIS IS A START - Suit against Cheney!

Find Out "..what exactly the administration has been doing with documents that belong not to the vice president, but to the American people."

We need to hear from ROVE, CHENEY, BUSH, RUMSFELD, and many others!

Military Contract Corruption: NO BID to Haliburton Subsidiary:

Charges $40 for every soldiers meal in Iraq!
Charges $99 for every soldiers load of laundry in Iraq!

These are verifiable facts and this is just the surface of a very corrupt military bid process.

Let's Review Republican Track Record!

Corruption in Crude Oil Price Speculation
Corruption on Wall Street
Corruption on Military Contracts
Corruption in "FAKE" War in Iraq
Corruption in De-Regulation
Corruption in Healthcare Spending

AND NOW

Corruption in ZogZigZag Polling!

Lets END THIS!

Vote for Obama-Biden TODAY or by Nov 4!

Amen, what he did to Max Cleland was disgusting. The way the GOP swift boated him was as nasty as it gets. I hope he goes down in flames and this is coming from a white Georgia voter!

I would love to think that the people of Georgia did not actually choose this sorry man over the honorable and heroic Max Clelend.

Why is anyone surprised? Isn't that a line straight from the McCain-Palin playbook?

The title of this article gave me an idea. Maybe state's voting blocks should just switch. For instance, all the people in Oregon would elect the representatives & senators for the state of Missouri. Missourians could elect reps for Virginia. Californians would vote for elected people in Texas, etc.

People might take it more seriously if they thought they had to find the right person to represent others. Clearly, we are hopeless about electing good people to represent us.
I wouldn't vote to have Chambliss represent the good people of Georgia. I could get rid of him, a chore that they seem to find difficult to do. Maybe this year.

Don't give up on us yet. Tuesday is only three days away, and Chambliss will be gone.

I live in Georgia and have already gleefully placed my vote for Obama-Biden-Martin.

Chambliss is also a guy who derisively refers to ACORN as a left-wing organization. Back during the Wall Street Bailout vote, I e-mailed Chambliss to voice my issues with the current proposals. As any good Senator would do in this age of the internet, he contacted the constituents who'd contacted him and explained why he cast his voice. He went out of his way to proudly state that he had been sure to support attachments to the bill that would ensure that *left-wing* organizations like ACORN would not benefit from the bailout. ACORN was not the only left wing group that he was particularly concerned about.

I wish I had kept the e-mail so that I could more accurately state what he actually said. But what struck me at the time is that it seem to never have occurred to Saxby that someone who contacted him could be anyone but the white conservatives who are responsible for putting him in office. It never occurred to him that he could be insulting someone who does not think like him. It didn't occur to him because he is not a Senator who represents all of the people of Georgia.

I truly pray that we Georgians send him back to the rock from under which he crawled.

Booya! With any luck, the place under that rock might start getting a bit crowded, with the likes of Mitch McConnell, Ted Stevens, Norm Coleman, and Elizabeth Dole joining Chambliss there. These people do their constituents and our country a disservice.

I know! We need to find a bigger rock!

Chambliss is a poster-boy for what's left of the Republicn Party: A bunch of middle aged white folks, scared and angry that they are being pushed out of power in an increasingly culturally diverse America. Bush's tax cuts are an upward re-distribution of wealth, into the hands of a small (white) segment of the population, before whites become the minority; in the meantime, the rest of us get stuck with more than $100,000 in federal debt per person. So the assets go upstream and the liabilities go downstream, and the Republicans have THE NERVE to accuse Obama of being a "socialist"??? Sure, socialism took all of Russia's wealth out of the hands of the monarchy; and maybe that's what's necessary here in America, too!

We're trying to, my friend. It's just taking a long time.

We've set our sights much too low for far too long when electing leaders; that has to change.

Sen. Obama is a very good start in the right direction.

Don't blame him. He didn't get the memo that would've told him its "2008".
