Undeterred by media criticism, a drop in polls, and a defamation lawsuit, Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) has released a second ad linking her opponent Kay Hagan to a group called "Godless Americans." The ad says Hagan's personal faith (which the Democrat defended in her own response ad) is "not the question."

I wonder if Bob is embarrassed by his wife?

I would imagine that he didn't like the approach. Bob Dole is a stand up guy. I don't think his wife's campaign listened to him.

This tempest about godliness is the first of anything to be heard from Libby Dole since she was with the Red Cross. First time she gets some national press attention it's about calling her opponent godless. I personally don't have a god, but it sure looks to me like Hagen and Dole are drinking from different pitchers of kool-aid. So, the muslims, budists, athietists, agnostics will be deciding which of these two is women will be attending the senate next year. Wow, what a world!

I have come to the conclusion that the god the right wingnuts espouse/worship is NOT the God that Jesus spoke about.

False christ's anyone?

I always tell these people; READ your bible. Jesus was a bigger liberal than any of the so-called "godless" democrats are.

I've read it, I can't find "blessed are the CEOs" anywhere. I wonder if they have a special Republican edition of the Bible. One that misses out that whole rich man/camel/eye of a needle conundrum that sort of prevents McCain and Bush and Dole from sitting with the big man upstairs.

Those wingnuts worship power and ignorance. The Christianity thing is just a facade.

I guess it's true that politic is a dirty game. All I see is liberals and conservatives attacking each other. I hope one day a president can be elected without using negative attacks.lol

I'm looking forward to an administration that eliminates the electoral college, the IRS, allows the FCC to penalize political campaigns the way it penalizes TV programming - and shreds the Bush doctrines.

McCain and Dole don't seem to get that one of the changes voters are desperately seeking is an end to this kind of campaigning.

Poor Liddy. When she loses she'll have to go back to living on the money Archer Daniels Midland gave her dirtbag husband.

Godless Americans want God in school, God on their money, God in the pledge of Allegiance but not in their hearts. Keep God and America in your heart Kay. I'm not from North Carolina, but I support you anyway. Will donate to you.

The Bible warns about false profits and false religions in the so-called End Times. Evangelicals in the US are saying things, doings things and supporting candidates, all of which Jesus would disapprove, and doing so in His name. Bunch of blasphemers....

In the New Testament, Jesus wept on finding his friend, Lazarus, dead. If Jesus came down now and looked at some of the commercials that so-called Christians sent over the airwaves, he would barf.

Elizabeth: The 800 pound Gorilla is that God is two things. 1) A mental formation with no inherent truth. 2) a primitive belief about the nature of reality. 3) a figment of the collective imagination and 4) an explanatory principle that explains and means whatever a person wants it to.
There really is no benefit in depending, relying, on your own hallucinations. There is no one up there watching you down here and intervening in your personal life or judging good and bad from a divine perspective. No Creator.

Not to offend any believers but really the basis for belief needs close examination.

The ad is so insulting to the people it is trying to target. To someone who is religious there is no such conundrum as godless,it is tantamount to saying oxygen -less or verb-less or lifeless .The ad doesn't take into consideration the possibility that just because you don't believe in God ,doesn't mean that God doesn't believe in you. It also doesn't take into consideration separation of church and state and that everyone has a vote, what about atheists in North Carolina ?(-yes both of them!)
A minister on the radio told a great joke ; a scientist is talking to God and says " look ,science has come a long way and ANYTHING you can do -I can do!" God says " O.K -you've seen what I can do -so show me what you can do." The scientist says " O.K ,ashes to ashes and dust to dust right? -I'll just take some of this dust here and..." God says " Hold it right there.. ..get your own dust.
To a religious person I don't think the word godless exists.

I guess I'm one of the two!

Here's a riddle; could God create something so heavy that He himself couldn't lift it? An answer either way would seem to preclude omnipotence.

So Godless ad #1 had to be clarified by ad #2!!!. I guess all those Dole staffers making the rounds on cable-news shows asserting that there was nothing misleading, nothing deceptive, and no questioning of Hagan's faith actually watched the first ad and realized OOPS! It was all those things. We weren't quite as slick as we thought. So we better put out another ad pronto!

Oh My Good Lord, and I say that with all due respect. How much lower can these politicians go? Dole, make that Dolt, should be ashamed, very ashamed. For the first time in my life I am making donations to campaigns in states I don't live in, never have lived in and don't plan to live in.
