WASHINGTON - John McCain is set to appear on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" just three days before the presidential election.

Aides say the Republican presidential candidate will make a detour from battleground states to the late-night weekend show that has been a must-watch for many during the political season.

Earlier this month, McCain running mate Sarah Palin and her impersonator, Tina Fey, earned "Saturday Night Live" its best ratings in 14 years. Palin's guest shot had been widely anticipated since Fey began imitating her a month ago.

McCain last appeared on the show in May, after clinching the nomination and while the Democratic primary continued.

McCain hosted "SNL" in 2002.

As a disclosure, I live in Linn County. Our largest city has about 40,000 souls. It's pretty dang rural here and to even mention the notion communism is to risk shunning.

Lorne Michaels is a solid republican, its no surprise he's had McCain and Plain. If he had the chance at Biden or Obama, he'd take any opportunity to make them look like fools. He can put on McCain, and spin it to make him look likable.

SNL has stunk for over 15 years, because of Tina Fey, Seth Meyers and Lorne Michaels. The show isn't funny, and shows that you that it took a VP nom that happened to look like one of their former writers to get the show attention.

Avoid it and watch a rerun of The Shield.

I like snl when Chevy Chase, and Lilly Tomlin, and Bulushi and Gilda Radner were on. That was the most funniest show ever. I remember going and ordering pizza's and watching it back then, it was so flipping funny! Those were the days.
