Politico:

UPDATE: Watch Affleck's Olbermann Skit from SNL.
******
Ben Affleck, who's hosting "Saturday Night Live" this week, was rehearsing a skit this afternoon mocking Keith Olbermann when Olbermann himself got past security to watch, according to a source with knowledge of the incident.

A source described the skit as "savage," in portraying Olbermann as a deranged person living at home with his mother. Affleck, said a source, became uneasy with Olbermann in attendance at the 3 p.m., closed-set rehearsal.

The Right-Wing, Republican, Palin/McCain/Rove xenophobes didn't realize what they were doing. Because of them, now a large part of the American population feels that they will be governed by a Muslim president, President Barack Hussein Obama - how's that for irony?

The arrogant, righteous Keith - Ben nailed it! A MUCH better Keith than Keith - one that I'd actually watch every night.

The skit wasn't "savage," it was simply over the top like all their characatures of public personalities. Ben did a fairly decent job of it, though he did break character a few times to giggle at the absurdity. It made me giggle too.

Affleck was hilarious and I’m sure Olbermann will love the sketch - I’ll be watching Countdown tonight to see his undoubtedly POSITIVE comments about Affleck.

Keith Olbermann is one of the few honest AND decent newsmen on TV. Sure he’s left wing, but we need ONE person to try and balance all the right wing nuts like Billo Reilly, Hannity, the two losers on Fox and Friends, Rupert Murdoch, pretty much everyone else on Fox, a lot of CNN…

When McCain made that racist comment against Arabs - after that nut job woman said Sen. Obama was “an Arabâ€, and Sen. McCain responded with “no he’s not, he’s a decent manâ€, ONLY Olbermann, Chris Matthews and the Daily Show had anything to say about it.

Olbermann; Matthews; and Maddow are the reason I watch MSNBC and when Billo Reilly insulted the son of a man who died in the WTC attack, that was when I stopped watching Fox and only see their racist/Zionist/Republican propaganda on YouTube once in a while.

Olbermann will be the next Howard K. Smith, Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite.

I laughed out loud, Afflect had the buffoons mannerism and tone down perfectly. He should give Hannity O'Reilly or Coulter a try. They are all cut from the same cloth, you just pick the one that represents your viewpoint and get it validated.

Huh? It must be me, reading all the praise, but if Affleck was doing an impression of James Lipton, he was dead on. Olberman...not so much. I didn't see the funny.

The skit was hilarious--knowing Ben Affleck's political leanings and the fact that KO was at the rehearsal, I'm sure that everyone involved was doing the skit with tongue way in cheek. KO is on "Football Night in America" on Sundays, so he may have something to say about it tonight!

I enjoy watching Keith, but this was spit-out-your-drink funny.

I bet Keith even liked it in a roast-me kind of way.

Above link has a gop slant, making the Keith skit anti Obama somehow?
Need a few comments on there from Huffposters..

Maybe somebody here can make a donate to Obama version?

I'm sure I'm not the first person to write this (I am NOT going to go through 12 pages of comments, sorry!) but:

- My wife and I are big KO fans, and

- We just about died laughing at the sketch! Affleck was pitch-perfect.

Ditto my thoughts. Funny stuff!

And we'll all see how much of a sport KO is when he shows a clip on Monday.

LMAO @ the hapless NAACP guy and Richard Wolfe as the Worst Person in the World n.a.z.i.

Comparing the coop board's rejection to trail of tears, japanese internment and jim crow laws was hilarious.

Funny stuff.

KO could do a little growing up, but the skit was way off base. Why is it the young people, including Rachel Maddow, do not understand references to the Nazis? Evil does exist, it exists within all of us, and when some people or some part of the political spectrum starts slipping into the great void of immorality, then they deserve to be compared to those (the Nazis) who more than any other party or group symbolise the embodiment of evil.

Since the kidnapping of the Republican Party by the right wing, they have increasingly depended on dirty tricks and lies to grab and hold onto political power. We have seen them take us into a real, honest to goodness war, with hundreds of thousands of casualties, based on bald-faced lies. We have seen them try to disenfranchise Democratic voters whenever and wherever they can. We have seen them destroy the American economy in order to make a few more bucks for their economic base, those who are the crookedest and greediest among us.

As Arianna has often pointed out, one does not find the truth by staking out a position half way between what the Right and what the Left are saying. During World War II, one would not have found the truth by staking out the ground halfway between Hitler and Stalin, or even half way between Hitler and FDR. The truth is what it is, not what youthful parodies of truth portray it as.

Olberman has a great sense of humor and I'm sure he got a great kick out of it. I wouldn't call the skit savage. Affleck did a great job of selling the skit also. Chris Matthews is probably jealous since he was sort of an icon for the over the top political commentator - and it seems that torch has passed to Olberman.

this was great. Keith IS entertaining and he knows it. C'mon, the guy knows he's over-the-top lol But, it works for him. I love his show and the delivery of his news bits.
