Senator Dole Sued Over Misleading "Godless" Commercial (VIDEO)

The Democratic candidate for Senate in North Carolina fired back in court on Thursday after a television advertisement questioned her Christian faith and linked her to a political group called the Godless Americans.

The candidate, State Senator Kay Hagan, filed a defamation lawsuit against her Republican opponent, Senator Elizabeth Dole, and released a 30-second television response affirming her belief in God.

Undeterred, Sen. Dole released a second "Godless" ad, claiming that Hagan's faith isn't "the question" and again tying Hagan to the Godless Americans group.

I wasn't aware there was a religious requirement to hold office. But I forgot... phony Christian like Libby Dole advertise their faith publicly and use it to sucker the gullible implying that only Christians are honorable and trustworthy. What a joke. What goes unstated is the fact that Dole 's only faith is winning at all costs. She can always attend church on Sunday to seek absolution for her misdeeds with the full knowledge that she will be absolved because she adheres to the 'true faith;' whatever that may be... she likely generates a modified definition to suit her need at any particular time. Good grief, I had no idea this woman was so sleazy.

I guess the same one that most fundamental Christians read serving up their own brand of self-righteous dogma. Maybe Elizabeth Dole should call Sarah Palin's preacher and be prayed over to have the serpent spirit removed from her? She sounds pretty irrational to me.

The Church and State are to be separate. If you can't do it, please get out and spare the rest of us from this silliness.

Honestly ... the same section of Leviticus that condemns gays also condemns planting two different kinds of crops in the same field, making cloth of blended fibers, eating pork, eating shellfish, shaving, haircuts ...they are ALL "abominations," so a down-home church picnic with ribs and shrimp on the barbie and all those well-groomed dudes with shaven faces and military buzz-cuts -- especially if they're wearing polyester-cotten shirts -- are 4 or 5 times the abomination Adam & Steve are.

My guess is that Elizabeth Dole goes to the Church of the Holly Roller, Right Wing, Bible Thumping, Small-Minded, Anyone Not Like Us Is Damned For All Time, Hellfire Preaching Redneck Church of God. This is the only way anyone could possibly be dense enough to call Hagan, a Presbyterian who teaches sunday school, "Godless". Since of course DOLE's god is sooooooo much bigger than anyone ELSE's god!!

Oh, wait......Maybe I'm thinking of Palin's church. Well, Dole and Palin together could run together as the Wingnut Party in 2012, at any rate.

I don't plan to wait for sunday.....I am already praying that Elizabeth gets drummed out of office on November 4th. Then she and Sarah can commiserate about what happens to self-righteous people who run their mouths and whip up hysteria when they have nothing of value to say.

I find it especially ironic that someone like Elizabeth Dole, who actually has a lengthy record of public service, can burn that bridge of goodwill with one thoughtless, visious, ugly, dumbas s statement. This ad is what people will remember about her, not the positive things she has done for the country. Way to trash your own legacy!!

"Under God" has only been in the Pledge of Allegiance since the '50s. It was put in as a result of McCarthyist attitudes so that we would be differentiated from the "godless" Soviets. Elizabeth Dole is apparently a staunch defender of McCarthyism.

The original writer of the Pledge explicitly did not want any religious references in it. Elizabeth Dole needs to learn some history.
