I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Dick Cheney

***UPDATE*** Joe Biden responds to Dick Cheney's endorsement of John McCain:

If you ever had any doubt that John McCain would continue George Bush's policies -- you can put those to rest. Just today, Vice President Cheney came out and endorsed John McCain. Do we need any more proof? I'm not surprised. Dick Cheney has been wrong on everything else the last eight years. He's on a roll.

EARLIER: The Obama campaign gleefully sends over an announcement of a major endorsement.... for John McCain... by Dick Cheney.

"In three days we'll choose a new steward for the presidency and begin a new chapter in our history," the Vice President said Saturday morning. "It's the biggest decision that we make together as Americans. A lot turns on the outcome. I believe the right leader for this moment in history is Senator John McCain."

This isn't, perhaps, the story that McCain headquarters wants in the news, though the press is undoubtedly going to play it up. Cheney is, after all, the Vice President.

If there was one GOP official less liked than George Bush it is Cheney. His popularity remains only among the rabidly conservative base who - a year ago - chanted "four more years" when he spoke at the Conservative Political Action Committee conference in Washington D.C.

UPDATE: Sure enough, Obama is set to jump all over the endorsement, having some fun with it in the process. According to prepared remarks for a rally in Pueblo, Colorado.

I'd like to congratulate Senator McCain on this endorsement because he really earned it. That endorsement didn't come easy. Senator McCain had to vote 90 percent of the time with George Bush and Dick Cheney to get it. He served as Washington's biggest cheerleader for going to war in Iraq, and supports economic policies that are no different from the last eight years. So Senator McCain worked hard to get Dick Cheney's support.

But here's my question for you, Colorado: do you think Dick Cheney is delighted to support John McCain because he thinks John McCain's going to bring change? Do you think John McCain and Dick Cheney have been talking about how to shake things up, and get rid of the lobbyists and the old boys club in Washington?

Open letter to Dick Cheney:

Dick, stand up and be a man. Get up off your butt and get out on the campaign trail. Be proud of your endorsement. Tell the world how much you love McCain. Go to Pennslyvania and tell everyone there how great he is. Go to Florida and assure those retirees that their retirement funds are in good hands with McCain. Go to Indiana and Colorado. Tell them that you stand behind McCain every step of the way.

And if you're too lazy to go on the campaign trail you can at least get youself on some talk shows. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN... any of them will be more than happy to give you some free air time to make your endorsement. Heck, call up your friends at Fox, they're more than happy to take your calls. You can even give them a list of questions you want them to ask.

There is only two days left so say it loud. Say it bold. Say it at the top of your lungs. McCain needs you!

i am sure Obama was very saddened that he did not get Darth Vader's endorsement. I am sure the endorsement from the guy with the same approval rating as measles will help McCain a lot with the undecided torture-fetishists.

YAY! Cheney, Bin Laden and Bush (listed in order of evilness) -- the Axis of Evil. McCain now has all their endorsements. He must be so proud.

Try this logic:

George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are Republicans.
John McCain and Sarah Palin are Republicans
John McCain supported Bush and Cheney 90% of the time on economy and war.
George W. Bush and Dick Cheney voted and support McCain.
John McCain actually said that he disagreed with the Bush Administration.
If this convoluted logic makes your head hurt, and you haven't yet voted early....vote Tuesday.

Why hasn't this endorsement made it to the front page of Yahoo or even any of the Yahoo election pages? I keep looking so I can "Buzz Up", so more people hear about it and it never appears? It's being under reported in a big way.

Cheney endorsed McCain to stop any investigation the Democratic party might bring next year against him. Can we say war criminal?

At this point I think a Bush endorsement would have been better than Dick "Vader's".
