SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama highlights Vice President Dick Cheney's support for Republican nominee John McCain in a new ad out Sunday.

The ad opens by touting Obama's recent endorsements from investor Warren Buffett and former Secretary of State Colin Powell, then cuts to video of Cheney from an event Saturday in Wyoming.

"I'm delighted to support John McCain," Cheney says. "I'm pleased that he's chosen a running mate with executive talent, toughness and common sense, our next vice president Sarah Palin."

An announcer says McCain earned Cheney's support by voting with the White House 90 percent of the time. "That's not the change we need," the announcer says.

WATCH:

The praise from Cheney, who routinely has some of the lowest approval ratings of any national political figure, came as Obama has been arguing that McCain is too closely tied to the policies of the Bush administration.

Obama's campaign said the 30-second spot would run nationally on cable channels.

For those of you who have been in the US military you know how arrogant and condescending some commisioned officers can be to enlisted and NCO's. John M c cain was one of these type officers.

Why has there been not ONE former POW stood up in defense of him? Because they know what kind of sleazeball he truly is.

And look how he treats veterans of today? Voting against EVERY bill for them.

Wake up people. This guy is pure DIRT!!

Read what war veterans are saying about him

I can not believe this...I live in Ohio and if we fail to elect Obama....we suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do I have to do, move to a state that has brains?????

Undecided in Ohio, get off your A.S.S. and either vote or just stay the H.E.L.L home and shut up when your government screws you for the next 4 years if McCain gets elected.
Me...I am out of here.

Obama/Biden '08...voted early in Ohio

Don't lose it just yet! A lot of folks have voted early, and the current polls don't reflect this. So when the counting is done, we'll come out on top. Just believe that, and keep your cool.
The same holds true in Florida and North Carolina.

et me help you here and calm your fear. It is outrageous to think Obama will lose, why? Mathematics, simple math tells you McCain has less than the same number of voters that voted for Bush in 2004, Most of the hardcore republicans but no new voters. Obama has registered 1/3 more people that never bothered to vote in any election. Add the numbers, Obama has same amount of people that voted for Kerry and Gore plus 1/3 of new registered voters plus all the independents and crossover republicans and there you have it. A much bigger turn out of voters for Obama. There is just no way he can lose

it was funny to hear Dick described Palin as someone with plenty of common sense. Then suddenly it dawn on me what was common sense to Dick.that will be a war with iran and making Iraq the 51st or 52nd state..

His description of Palin is particularly amusing given what we now know about how well she conducts herself with "foreign leaders"

I'm really not sure why Cheney came out of his underground compound to make an endorsement at this point. I guess he's highly confident in the GOPs 72 hour steal the vote strategy

Cheney knew exactly what he was doing - a big smiling "go f-ck yourself" to McCain for the "I am not George Bush" campaign he has been running. Cheney is any number of things, but flat-out stupid is not one of them.

Nah. The Republican just want to make sure that the Democrats have to clean up their mess. The last thing they want is to be held responsible collectiely or individually.

;)

Yes, but let's look the other way if any dogs just accidentally poop there.

Well as a McCain neighbor I can safely tell you there's no way dogs poop on his lawn. (I hate to be the bearer of bad news on the "hey you kids get off my lawn schtick) His home in Phoenix is surrounded by a big high wall. I would hate to think what would happen if some ill-begotten pup thought to pee on it either... he'd probably be taken out by a secret service sniper.

I jog through my neighborhood everyday and the most gratifying thing I see are more and more Obama posters!!!!

Whoever wins the election, I still have one unanswered question: Will we ever find the Perfect Leader, that everyone likes? Or will we always argue and be disappointed? This is also discussed in this video:

We will be able to PICK better leaders when we educate our public. Right now, not only is our population uneducated and cannot compete in the world job market, but the republicans have made it so education is impossible to afford, and often, those that want to continue their education, cannot because they have to work. It's a no win situation.

Obama for Education...... and for a better future!

Our leaders are merely a reflection of who we are as a people. We need to begin to hold ourselves to the "higher standards" that we expect of our leadership.

There may be people who have "better" qualifications or experience than either McCain or Obama, but it is becoming less and less likely to find a pool of applicants willing OR ABLE to meet our tests and demands, or withstand the crucible that we call the campaign process.

We want "perfection" of our candidates, their families, their qualifications, their past, their friends and associates -- every word that comes from their mouth at any given moment, regardless of the circumstances. Would YOU want to expose yourself, your family or those whom you hold dear, in such a brutally vulnerable, degrading and thankless way?

Until we get past our J*rry Spring*er mentality for blood lust and chaos; our unwillingness to be accountable for our own words and action; our intellectual laziness and emotional deficits, we won't even be able to recognize a "perfect" leader, were we ever to have one.

I'm no fan of McCain by any means. But I respect his "grit" in putting himself on the line. And I just thank my God that we had a Barack as a choice. For now, that's "perfect" enough for me.
