There has been a lot of speculation that Barack Obama might win the election due to his better "ground game" and superior campaign organization.

I had the chance to view that organization up close this month when I canvassed for him. I'm not sure I learned much about his chances, but I learned a lot about myself and about this election.

...

I've learned that this election is about the heart of America. It's about the young people who are losing hope and the old people who have been forgotten. It's about those who have worked all their lives and never fully realized the promise of America, but see that promise for their grandchildren in Barack Obama. The poor see a chance, when they often have few. I saw hope in the eyes and faces in those doorways.

Well Said zippitydoo!! My Family Struggle everyday to make ends meet and my husband works 14+ hours a day to support us running his own buisness while I stay home to raise our children to make sure they are taking care of and Safe and away from the dangers that lurk behind the gang bangers and drug dealers, and an un protected eye...ect..but we promise to keep working hard and even harder,Yes, Obama gives us hope that things may be easier but not so we can slack off a little for rest but gives us hope that we can actually afford a new pair of shoes instead of a pair of hand me downs,or be able to pay a bill when it arrives in the mail not just when we saved half from one paycheck and the other half from the other paycheck! Hope? Yes, Obama gives Me and My Family Hope and I have Prayed every night this Man wins!!

This Man Speaks Volumes!!! He dares to go with his gut even when his rational brain tells him he would be financially better off with McCain.
This is courage, changing your views at his age is really tough.
This is patriotism at it's absolute best, no flag flying just sacrificing for the good of all.

Thanks for watching my back Mr. Conservative ~ I vow to you that I will continue to work hard so that as I grow the economy you will reep the benefits of my labor!

Peace Man!

Hey, Jonathan Curley, congratulations on getting a bigger tax bill under Obama... truly!

I'm not in the least envious because I love my life but I don't think there is a one of us who wouldn't like to say that Obama's presidency will raise my taxes because we rake in more than a quarter of a million dollars per year! And for those of us that can't say that we're equally happy that Obama's tax plan will make paying the heating bill possible.

I say this with all the friendliness of a fellow Obama canvasser - you suck! Thanks for putting yourself out there and stepping up and beyond yourself for the good of America.

Best Regards!

I Have Been Touched by Obama from the first time I have heard him speak, I live in a very small town in Kansas, and live around alot of older folks who still live in the mindset of racsism and it makes me sick that people still think this way, I pray for his safety now and when he is voted in for president (yes, im confident!!) I think He will Make a difference in how many people view one another and see people as a person and not as a color and other important Issues that America has Long Needed, Its going to be a long Journey but I have faith in him. This Story has touched my heart and this is just the Begining!!! One thing I have Noticed also Is how Obama speaks from his Heart when speaking in his campaigns and Mcsame speaks with his head Down and reads from his cards...something to be said about that!

GO VOTE NOW! Make History! Obama is need of all the votes necessary to create a landslide. Let's make sure that our state turns blue! Bring your friends and family - make it a group thing! Wouldn't you want to say 1 year from now, 5 years from now, or even 20 years from now that you contributed to the most highlighted election in US history? Wouldn't you be proud to tell your kids/grandkids years from now that you voted for this election? It will be the most talked about election for centuries. Voting is a right and a privilege. Let's all make history together!

April 27, 1994 in South Africa people waited in lines for hours to vote for the first time in their lives. November 4, 2008 in the United States people wait in lines for hours to vote for hope and unity.

We have water and snacks to pass out tomorrow to those waiting in line. The campaign office is directing us where to go. If you have the time and money for water, it may make a difference to someone in line.

A friend is driving from Maryland to South Carolina to take her elderly aunt to the poll. Hopefully, someone healthy near the front of the line will let this elderly, disabled woman go ahead to vote.

What is driving so many of us to engage so vigorously, so personally? Hope for the future. Hope for the eradication of the ugly divisiveness that swept in with Reagan and has grown like stage five cancer ever since. Hope that we all realize that there is no party that has a legitimate claim to be the moral majority or patriotic or pro-American. Hope that when we say to our kids "you can be anything you want to be if you work hard and live righteously", it will be true.

That was BEAUTIFUL! I canvassed this weekend, and I learned that even people in rich, white neighborhoods will support Obama, at least some of them. I also learned that the rich, white neighborhood where I canvassed is going to be a tough precinct for Obama to win, but that's life in Virginia! I hope I helped the campaign. VOTE VOTE VOTE!

Folks, this is my first time leaving a comment here or for that matter on any blog.
As people who know me would say, I'm "obsessed" with politics and totally an Obama fan.
There have been times when I've thought about posting a comment, but never did.
Sometimes all it takes is that we move away from what is most familiar to see that we all share the same hopes and dreams; but that so much of us have lost faith in the possibliities of those hopes and dreams. After reading this, I almost cried. "HOPE" can be a beautiful thing and very, very powerful.

What is happening is rolling down hill like a mighty thunder!
This is bigger than any one man, this is a movement!!

I"m a mess. A new Obama song wrings tears from my eyes. A new line in Barack"s speech may make me weep. And a story like this has me reaching for tissue again.

Unity. That"s what this is about. I want a landslide so badly. Not because I think Barack will govern from my left-of-center position, because he won"t. Not because he is a Liberal and he agrees with my ideology, because he doesn"t. I want a landslide so my African American neighbors can know we will find common ground. Fear has separated us.

To know we share a vision that won"t frighten us, and won"t divide us. They may feel he "belongs" to them, but no one can explain that to my heart because I know he belongs to all of us. I am so proud of a country such as ours, steeped in racial strife, which can and will elect the first African American President of the United States of America. For me it is a joyous time.

GOTV!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I live in California, a state so deep blue, neither candidate really bothered with us for anything but contributions. Had the mistaken view that a vote more here or a vote more there wouldn't make much of a difference. This story reminded me that I had it all upside down. I'm taking tomorrow off and will be driving folks to the polling station.

I was so touched to read this story because it mirrors mine in many respects. At almost 50 years old (female, white) I have never been involved in a campaign. I heard Senator Obama give the Democratic speech in 2004 and my Aunt (who followed politics all the time) told me "I hope he runs for President".

That day came, the announcement that Senator Obama would run for President. Now, understand that my whole family came from Missouri and Tennessee back in the day when it seems Michigan was the state of opportunity. So, early this year I began volunteering for Senator Obama's campaign, registering voters, canvassing neighborhoods, standing outside in all kinds of weather and met the most wonderful people in the campaign and the public who talked about hope and turning the page.

Now, as I drive through my neighborhood which is mostly upper middle class I see Obama signs everywhere, except for my Aunt's house because she passed away a few months ago. She saw in Senator Obama something special and it makes me sad she won't be here to witness history being made, and I took a journey that will stay with me forever and believe that tomorrow hope will triumph over fear as I saw in all the faces of the people who believe there could be better days ahead.

A gloriously beautiful story that truely touch my heart, imagine a world where everyone interacted with everyone refusing to be divided by hiden entities.
