Elizabeth Dole's "'Godless Americans' Ad Is Blowing Up In Her Face"

Liddy Dole deserves to lose for so many reasons. But, in the end, Dole really did herself in with that "godless" ad she ran against Kay Hagan. Public Policy Polling's blog, (PPP is based in North Carolina) had this analysis:

It is pretty clear to me based on our polling this weekend that Kay Hagan will be headed to the US Senate unless something very bizarre happens in the next 72 hours. While numbers in the races for President and Governor are basically unchanged from last week there has been clear movement away from Elizabeth Dole, a sign that her 'Godless Americans' ad is blowing up in her face.

The defeat of the right-wing Christianist political movement in this country is profoundly gratifying. Thse people dare to call themselves Christians while spreading lies and stoking fears. They claim that the United States is a "Christian" nation, but nowhere did Jesus ever talk about government by the people and separation of powers. Now Elizabeth Dole claims that her opponent doesn't believe in God! Shame on her for lying. But another question must be asked, So what if she didn't? Nowhere in the United States Constitution does it say that United States Senators must believe in God to be qualified. If you believe in God, and you truly have love in your heart for others, you don't go around spreading lies about them. If you truly uphold the Constitution, you respect the rights of others to believe, or not, as they see fit.

look at McCain's posture...­it seems as though he can't stand up straight anymore. It is as though his body has become a metaphor for the self-made changes in his moral authority. When he was prowling around the stage in that "town hall" debate, it was pathetic..­.he was walking like some kind of crustacean. And he has photographers using trick photography such as taking photos from the bottom of his legs in order to make him look taller.

Republicans this election have shown their true colors with their campaigns of smear and fear using God in their talking points has become a normal thing. Accusations have become they're only defense, not having the answers to real issues, or solutions, they continue to lower their standards when campaigning. Look at McCain and especially Palin. Its like their is no limit on what they'll say when they accuse the opponent they face, and it has backfired on them. Dole brought this on herself, just like McCain and Palin have done. The american people have had their fill of hate, lies, and misdirection from the issues, and want someone who talks about he problems we face other than generalizations of we'll fix this or that my friends, or he's a socialist or anti-american which Palin has done over and over again. Thye've hurt their own campaigns in a time when our president has turned his back on the american people for 8 years, while rewarding corporations and the wealthy.
