Elizabeth Dole's "'Godless Americans' Ad Is Blowing Up In Her Face"

Liddy Dole deserves to lose for so many reasons. But, in the end, Dole really did herself in with that "godless" ad she ran against Kay Hagan. Public Policy Polling's blog, (PPP is based in North Carolina) had this analysis:

It is pretty clear to me based on our polling this weekend that Kay Hagan will be headed to the US Senate unless something very bizarre happens in the next 72 hours. While numbers in the races for President and Governor are basically unchanged from last week there has been clear movement away from Elizabeth Dole, a sign that her 'Godless Americans' ad is blowing up in her face.

I don't think God has anything to do with it. They are just evil people. What is amazing is the level of hypocrisy from those who claim to be Christians. Yes there are a lot of Democrats who have their vises and commit crimes, but they aren't doing it in the name of "God". I wish I lived in N.C. just to vote against this wicked person.

When Elizabeth Dole was the Sec. of Transportation, my dad was a merchant marine (transportation sailor.) One year she sent out XMass/holiday cards that said "Thank you for keeping this nation's highways safe." It was clear she had no idea who she was sending these cards out to.

She apparently made the push for the nationwide drinking age of 21 by punishing states that had a lower drinking age. No matter how you feel about underage drinking, just admit that changing the drinking age did NOTHING to stop underage drinking, it just punished the 18 year olds that could die in a war and, as of less than a decade earlier, vote. The nation just traded the drinking and voting ages, that was it, and Ms. Dole was the enforcer.

What this boils down to is that if there are any waits or difficulties it is better to find out and address them on Monday so you can return on Tuesday to get things resolved if absolutely necessary. Kay Hagan's ad is so short (30 secs) but so powerful. She speaks with such conviction and truth. And ends with reference to a Bible verse. I am so glad the Republican fake faith is being exposed. So many times they claim they are the Christians upholding "family values" and they are doing just the opposite.

I realize that politically Kay Hagan's ad is brilliant, but it (almost) makes me regret voting for her. I'd be extremely upset about it if it weren't for the fact that we must get rid of the Republican filth that has corrupted this country for so long. What Kay should have said is that there is no religious test, and I will meet with and consider the positions of ALL of my constituents. I understand that I have no right to discriminate against those I represent based on creed. If I'm elected, I will represent all of the people of North Carolina.

It's unfortunate that Kay Hagan said "not bear false witness against fellow Christians", not quite the same thing. False accusations are reprehensible, regardless of target.
