Reuters:

As the U.S. presidential candidates sprint toward the finish line, the Bush administration is also sprinting to enact environmental policy changes before leaving power.

Whether it's getting wolves off the Endangered Species List, allowing power plants to operate near national parks, loosening regulations for factory farm waste or making it easier for mountaintop coal-mining operations, these proposed changes have found little favor with environmental groups.

Obama needs to ask him not to do this crap at their meeting on Monday. At a time of "national crisis" it seems crazy to cost the new president and his staff so much valuable time undoing last minute Wing-Nut regulations. As a matter of courtesy to the entire nation, Still President Bush needs to help smooth the way for President Elect Obama, not try to block him before he starts.

The question, "How much damage can one person do" comes to mind here. We usually say that from the standpoint of resignation to a situation with the feeling that the answer is "not much." In Bush's case, the answer is "far too much." They need to sit him in a room with a copy of "My Little Pony", lock him in and keep him away from phones, pens and sharp objects. A gag woudl be nice, too.

The key question is: What can be done to neutralize the Bush administration during the Lame Duck phase? Who can put a stop to this last burst of the abuse of power.? Are there any experts who can tell us what, as private citizens, we can do? No point in hand-wringing, we need action!.

Save for WW III, everything he does in the next 76 days can be reversed fairly easily starting Jan 20, 2009 at about 12:02 PM.

I pray you are right. This Bozo is going to do everything he can to set policies that will endanger so many animals.

With 76 days before he leaves office there's no telling what damage he's still capable of, World War III comes to mind.

This guy is determined to leave a burning trail behind him. Scorched earth, indeed. There has to be some karma waiting for him on the other side.

Unfortunately the rest of the greedy Rethugs are protesting this move by the shrub to create something / anything positive as a legacy. Too little too late Prince George.

I've been depressed since 2000.

I feel like I'm starting to wake up.

That's exactly how I feel. I feel like our hero in Back To The Future when George McFly actually gets together with his future wife and the son suddenly starts to show up on the film again after almost disappearing.

This is the typical Republican response to the loss of the election. The environment is one of the things that this administration has abused for years in order to further their buddies in big corporations..

Time to borrow a page or two from the Repub handbook and place a hold, fillibuster or put into some slow moving committee ANY regulation Bush proposes from here till Jan 20.

my hate and anger towards this president is off the charts. I mean what the hell is he thinking? doesn;t he know the majority of the citizens do NOT agree with his policies!!!!

This gives new meaning to the practice of "A Scorched Earth Policy..!"

This is why he should have been Impeached..!
