I Like ItI Don’t Like It

MSNBC will have hosts AND an anchor on election night, according to Chris Matthew on "Hardball." After Matthews and Olbermann got removed as official election anchors for the final debates, with David Gregory taking the role, the network announced their election night plans as follows:

MSNBC's Election Night coverage kicks off at 5 p.m. ET, anchored by David Gregory with Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow and Eugene Robinson at MSNBC Election Headquarters in New York. "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough will join to provide analysis based on his years of experience in the House of Representatives. Norah O'Donnell will report on the challenges facing the incoming administration...

But Monday Chris Matthews announced he and Olbermann are "hosts":

Please join me and Keith Olbermann as we host MSNBC's election night coverage, and there's nothing like it anywhere else. And David Gregory anchoring."

Compared to KO and Rachel, Gregory is an intellectual lightweight and IMO leans right. He lets those repug ninnies go on and on and never calls them on their lies -- he just goes to commercial.

Gregory needs to go do Mornin' Greg, and Joe needs to go -- and take Mika with him. Can't stand any of them.

Immediately after the Republican Convention, the "Powers" at MSNBC removed Chris Matthews and Keith Olberman as the "co-hosts" of Election Night 08 due to their obvious partisan comments and overall coverage of the Republican Convention.

Which is funny when you consider Fixed Noise. I figure...acknowledge that the most popular shows on your net are Keith's and Rachel's and let them do their thing. It's not like Reps are gonna watch them anyway. They're all glued to FN.

They got angry with Scarborough for his stupid partisan comments during the GOP convention. For that they were punished. They responded like real human beings when faced with the never ending put downs on the right. That is "partisan" I guess.

David Gregory SUCKS. KO and Chris can do a much better presentation than that apple polisher.

Come to think of it, replace Dave with Rachel Maddow. Add Pat Buchanan for some comic relief.

Hear! hear! I totally agree. Rachel Maddow as THE MAIN anchor. Gregory---please remove.

What's so wrong with David Gregory? And Chris Matthews? He great. I like Olbermann the best though. Maddow is a little to nice for me.

David Schuster should definitely have a bigger role to play IMO. He is a delight. I love Chris Matthews, he might be rude but that is what I love about him. Some people ramble on and on and he puts his foot down and cut them off. Awesome. Chuck Todd is another that I like to hear more from. Tom Brokaw annoys the hell out of me. Even today, he mentioned that the possible winner, either McCain or Obama and then went on to say his point. Dude, why don't you come out and say that you are for McCain and get it over with

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:27 PM on 11/04/2008

Is Brokaw really for McCain? I keep hearing this. How do you guys know?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:49 PM on 11/04/2008

He made himself the NBC emissary to the McCain camp. Or you could just listen to him for a few minutes. Either would do it.

Brokaw and McCain are good friends. He is obvious about it sometimes too. After Bill Clinton's speech, Brokaw immediately went into Bill Clinton's being in England while McCain was a prisoner of war, as if Bill Clinton had no right to be up there on the stage considering his Vietnam stance. You don't slam someone like that right as your first comment after a speech, which has nothing to do with the speech or the setting, unless you are a strong partisan for the other side.

If MSNBC wants high ratings, I do hope that they will do the right thing and have Keith ANCHOR. I know that I will not be able to resist going to MSNBC, but if click on there and I see DavideffingGregory's face, I am immediately changing channels. I will be in a mood to celebrate and I don't want Gregory spoiling it for me and millions others.

CNN is race baiting this election. How come they keep referencing that Americans are voting for the first Black President.

I HOPE Americans are voting on the issues and not because he's black!!

Second, what is the point of talking about Kenya citizens? who cares that Kenyans think about our election. Again this is race baiting. Did they do this for George Bush and John Kerry?

This election is being watched by every nation in the world. Xenophobic remarks like the "Who cares what Kenyan thinks" is indicative of the Bush/Cheney mindset.

We are not alone in this world, and our leader is hugely important to the rest of it; have you forgotten the disaster that Bush has wrought?

ANd watch with the race-baiting hypersensitivity: Obama's got family in Kenya, or didn't you know?

David Gregory is the worst, the absolute worst. I will take Keith, Chris, Rachel and even old Pat Buchanan anytime. Pat has a sense of humor and doesn't take all this stuff seriously. Even Rachel likes him.

I caught that, too, when Chris said it and was confused. What does that mean? I just hope Chris and Keith are on - they bring a certain levity to the atmosphere on election nights.

What no Pat Buchanan? I cannot believe he still has an on-air gig on MSNBC, or that even his sister is still on CNN. David Gregory, Tom Brokaw and Pat should all exit stage right...

Chris and Keith are MSNBC's biggest assets (notice there's a T in there! :D) david gregory is a wimpy bore. How he got a 6PM slot and all these anchor positions is beyond belief. Chuck Todd is really impressing me as an anchor (or is that host) the couple of times I've seen him hosting election segments in the past week or two. They should give him Meet the Press - I think he would be fantastic there!
