I Like ItI Don’t Like It

MSNBC will have hosts AND an anchor on election night, according to Chris Matthew on "Hardball." After Matthews and Olbermann got removed as official election anchors for the final debates, with David Gregory taking the role, the network announced their election night plans as follows:

MSNBC's Election Night coverage kicks off at 5 p.m. ET, anchored by David Gregory with Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow and Eugene Robinson at MSNBC Election Headquarters in New York. "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough will join to provide analysis based on his years of experience in the House of Representatives. Norah O'Donnell will report on the challenges facing the incoming administration...

But Monday Chris Matthews announced he and Olbermann are "hosts":

Please join me and Keith Olbermann as we host MSNBC's election night coverage, and there's nothing like it anywhere else. And David Gregory anchoring."

you know, Keith repeated the same thing later on his show...so i don't think it was a mistake...i think they mean that Keith and Chris will be the main hosts talking all night and they will shoot to Gregory for like official news a la an ancorhman.

Well I'll be switching between channels. I like to see how each network covers the election.

David Gregory is ideally suited to the anchor role. He's leaden, and will slow everything down.

Fortunately, the party will have much more amusing hists in the form of Olbermann and Matthews.

MSBNC and their patrons love Matthews and Olbermann on elections. They only agreed to take them off as anchors because of the backlash at the RNC. It was ridiculous and I am glad they have found this shuffling of titles to make it work.

I saw an MSNBC graphic that said Chris and Keith are hosting and that David Gregory is anchoring.

Which made little sense to me either, but I could definitely do without David Gregory trying to find a way to piss on what will likely be an Obama victory.

I believe that morning Joe will be off the air soon after the election. He is a very mean person that has allot of obvious pent up anger in him.

This morong he started so angry it was unreal and i recieved a phone call from a friend relating the same thing i saw. After a hour he calmed down because producers must of told him to tone it down.

Joe is NOT fair and balanced and i do not mind when program host drive there own views bit when Joe pretends we are stupid and that he does not spin all the time he is only fooling himself.

Please take his show off the air he is not a nice person and i am very disturbed that he promotes himself as fair and balanced. which he will aways lie about.

Oh, forgive David Gregory for his leaning toward the Republicans. He has spent EIGHT YEARS sucking up to George W Bush.
When he participated in that horrible MC ROVE sketch at the correspondents' dinner, that was it for me.

Keith said the same thing last night and I was a little confused. I'm still confused. LOL! Guess we'll find out tonight who anchors and hosts.

I'm going to watch Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert instead of the news networks. This election has worn me out and I need a good laugh! COMEDY CENTRAL 9PM CST

This is an improvement, but I'd rather see Keith and Rachel host.

Keith's last segment tonite was confusing and despicable. What if someone not paying attention to the election turned on Keith's segment tonite? Cutting and pasting comments for anyone is a NO-NO and it is irresponsible!

I'm sorry you found this last comment so difficult, but the truth is John McCain has gotten a past by the media for some of the dumbest comments ever (given that we still have George Bush that is saying something!!).

If you believe that if Barack Obama, would have been treated in the same light you don't live in the same country as I do, It is really scary when you have to confront the underlying racism of this country. We are no longer talking about yelling the n-word or other such overt racism comments, but the subtle references such as "an articulate black man". The thought that a black person may have a different perspective on this country and still love it, doesn't even come into the consciouness of too many Ameriocans. Please.... I have lived through watching
some of the most hateful things said to and about black people in the name of joking.

Keith Olbermann didn't have to say anything about the subtle racism that is still at work, this little piece just highlighted it. And oh by the way anyone who didn't get the point by picking this piece up in progress is an idiot (oops sorry).

There isn't much overlap between a low info voter and a Countdown viewer.

He was making a point:

Would YOU vote for or even consider voting for Obama if he'd pulled all the stunts McCain has and made all the gaffes he did?

The answer is more than likely a resounding no.

The question now is, with the situations reversed, why is this race so close? And it leaves it up to the viewers to answer.

I appreciated the segment because I thought it was a valid question.

They were talking about the co-hosting/Gregory anchoring on the Saturday specials.

I got no idea what that all means. Other than an attempt to appeal to the more conservative factions in the company while playing up the more progressive fans that Matthews and Olbermann bring in.
