Chris Matthews And Keith Olbermann "Hosting" Election Night, David Gregory "Anchoring" (VIDEO)

MSNBC will have hosts AND an anchor on election night, according to Chris Matthew on "Hardball." After Matthews and Olbermann got removed as official election anchors for the final debates, with David Gregory taking the role, the network announced their election night plans as follows:

MSNBC's Election Night coverage kicks off at 5 p.m. ET, anchored by David Gregory with Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow and Eugene Robinson at MSNBC Election Headquarters in New York. "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough will join to provide analysis based on his years of experience in the House of Representatives. Norah O'Donnell will report on the challenges facing the incoming administration...

But Monday Chris Matthews announced he and Olbermann are "hosts":

Please join me and Keith Olbermann as we host MSNBC's election night coverage, and there's nothing like it anywhere else. And David Gregory anchoring."

I cannot stand David Gregory but am very glad Chris and Keith will be on board tomorrow night. I love Rachel too. David Gregory is so snarky. When he is on here in the afternoon PST, I switch to CNN and watch the Situation Room because I like Jack Cafferty.

I wonder who they will put as the replacement for Tim Russert on Meet the Press. If they put David Gregory in that spot, they have lost a viewer here, that's for sure. I disagree with Chris Mathews sometimes.­...he is such a rabblerous­er.....but he would be better than Gregory IMHO.

Nora O'Donnell would drive me crazy!! I'm glad for her that she's so cheerful all the time but WOW that laugh/snort thing she does every two seconds makes me cringe. I find myself tuning out what she's saying cause I'm anticipating when the next one will come.
Lawrence O'Donnell would be fun but I can't remember him ever doing an interview.

Yes, I remember when Gregory was covering Obama's speech in Berlin. He immediately talked about people in the US not liking that Obama wasn't paying attention to THEIR problems while he was in Europe, as if everyone in the US was a narcissist who needed the attention constantly on themselves and couldn't let a candidate go to Europe or they'd get all resentful.

Gregory is in the style of Wolf Blitzer. Leaden is a very good description. The other two men have quick intelligence and are light on their feet.

But will Keith and Chris get in another cat fight? The world is on the edge of it's seat waiting to find out. I don't like Gregory, but it's pretty clear Keith and Chris are too partisan to "anchor" these things. But obviously, you've got to have them there to provide commentary and their long winded overly-dramatic sports analogies and allusions to the films of David Lean.

They weren't in any fight. They were taken out of their "slots," because Tom Brokaw didn't like them there. Since then, the debate and convention ratings went way down. They became very boring by themselves, and David Gregory is extremely boooooring!!!!!!! Keith and Chris were good together, and they should go back the way they were before. Tom Brokaw is a has-been, and he should go back into retirement!!!!!! We don't like him either!

It was inappropriate for someone who was supposed to be acting impartial.

i actually enjoyed watchin chris and keith go at it, it was really funny and good, and lets be real if you want pure news without commentary just watch cspan

if you want the goods watch keith and chris they;re really good and they are real, their real opinions come out and you get little spin just what they really feel and thats been missing for too long anyway

Very true...mor­eso with Keith in my opinion.

I'm an Obama supporter and generally a Democrat, but it bugs me how so few will admit that MSNBC is just the liberal alternative to Fox News. They're not the last bastion of truth on television. Don't get me wrong; I love Keith and Rachel, but it can be more balanced. I don't mind hearing the other point of view sometimes.­..even if that point of view is, as it is this election year, completely wrong.

True, they are an antidote to the poison of Fox News, but it is misleading to imply that they are a mirror image. MSNBC is generally more thoughtful and more intelligent. Much of our television media is very well scripted; much like reality shows.

MSNBC started out in that cable access way...earn­est and irreverent like a late night DJ.

Keith, Chris, Rachel, and crew are well versed, irreverent, jocular, and really into to politics. They are the closest thing to that visceral, live, well written, produced, fly in the face TV of the olden days...I was barely verbal, but somehow I could surmise Dick Cavett was smart.

You're onto something MSNBC. Build it and we will come.

It's not enough for O to win. He's going to need the 60+plus majority in the Senate to do anything for the people. If he doesn't have it, he's going to cut deals with the Republicans to keep crossover Republican voters for 2012.

If you're in the central and pacific time zones and if the media calls the race for O soon after the polls close in the east, make sure you still go and vote! The down-ticket Democrats need you to vote, too!

David Gregory is anchoring with straight news facts.
Chris & Keith are hosting with commentary, which is wonderful because I want to hear their opinions as the results come in. They wouldn't be able to do that as anchors.
