I Like ItI Don’t Like It

As his campaign comes to a close, John McCain has landed on a favorite theme, one he has repeated over and over and over again over the last week. It appears the GOP candidate is really, really itching for a fight.

Sen Obama was raised by a single mother, pulled himself up with sacrifices and with the love of his grandparents. He is the only candidate I know in recent history that really knows what regular people go through. Does anybody think that McCain or Bush(s) or Nixon or Johnson or Kennedy or Reagan or Eisenhower or Truman or Clinton (married to a rich woman) or Carter (the king of peanuts) knew what it meant to see a mother dying of cancer? to deal with problems of everyday lives? Their moms would have been at Mass General or Georgetown or Duke univ med center, taken care of like nobody else. Their careers set in motion by the connections of their parents or in laws.
Do you think McCain and Cindy know how to decipher a medical bill? They have never seen one (Admiral son+ Senator+ in the service: never had to pay a penny for health care).
Did any republican president in the last 50 years really have to pull by its own bootstraps with no background help from mom/pap or the Alumni of Yale and Harvard? No- but how ready they are to tell YOU to go solo! But them? Them no, they are so special they are the God-given gift to the world and are so hypocritical.
GO OBAMA you are the true (and BEST of ) AMERICA.

Just for the record, Bill Clinton did come from a middle-class background, which is one of the reasons I liked him, although the rest of your points are well-taken.

I think you need to study up on Truman, Eisenhower, Johnson, Nixon, Carter, and Clinton before you assume such broad strokes of generalized assumptions. These men came from "simple" backgrounds - not wealth and privilege. They made their way to either their successes in business (Carter) and politics (Truman, Nixon, Johnson, Clinton) and military (Eisenhower), and their eventual place in our nation's history books on their own through their careers, not because of their family name and the wealth and/or privileges granted that family name.

Your overall premise though, that Obama has risen up from a life of struggles and challenges, is one that many have been espousing - how can a man such as McCain, or the any in Bush family, ever know what it is to need or want? McCain publicly states that "middle class" is anyone making less than $5,000,000 a year and, like GWB before him, has had everything handed and plotted for him, never having to scrimp, save, do without, work hard at attaining an education or any position. This is a man who cheated on his crippled wife with the rich one he has now, a man with 8 houses on record and 13 cars. So how on earth would this man have any idea what "middle class" means, what it entails in ordinary persons lives, what a typical family goes through to plan, budget, sacrifice, and the worries and anxiety these cause daily?

McCain spent 5 long years "doing without", in ways you couldn't even imagine! OOHHH, how Obama suffered - Pounahou, Occidental, Columbis, Harvard, ALL paid for by someone else!! Doesn't sound like suffering to me!

Clinton didn't marry a "rich woman". Both going into and coming out of the White House, the Clintons had far less money than most other couples who were in possession of similar academic degrees (i.e. two law school graduates).

Sen. McCain is still prosecuting the Vietnam War (ex post facto). That's why, for him, "victory", and "honor" are the only concepts sufficient to denote a resolution to the Iraq War, despite the questionable reasons for the war, its illegality, and loss of innocent life. And unfortunately, this projected idea of "fighting" for "everything" as a means to an end, by itself, makes him unsuitable to be president.

He, and especially Gov. Palin, not only have engaged in racism as a subtext, but their message has been mostly nationalistic in nature. And the idea of "fighting" is just one of many rhetorical devices pulled out of their ideological grabbag to exude "strength", while conceptually enslaving the very people who applaud them!

Funny thing though, with his "Hero" status being such a key element of his campaign, why didn't we see a host of other Military Heroes proselytizing for him across the country.
Maybe because there is a difference in the level of heroism between a soldier who falls on a grenade to save his comrades, or one who carries another wounded soldier through enemy fire to safety, or one who charges an enemy position to save his friends, and one who crashes 4 planes, gets shot down and spends the next 5 years in a box. The later is tragic and I am sure his behavior was mostly commendable, but it lacks a certain level of self-sacrifice exhibited by our best-remembered heroes. With the large number of heroes available from his era, McCain seems to have only been able to get a very few to give rather general and tepid endorsements.
I come from a family with a strong history of military service - this strikes all of us as more than a little odd.

There's a reason for the tepidness -there are many links to "Songbird" McCain, and if even 50% of the claims are true, it is beyond comprehension as to why none of this was ever brought forth by the MSM. One other point that has been stated as well - if McCain was in good standing while a POW, why didn't he get the customary promotion at least once, even twice during his time of captivity that is normal for someone held as long as he was. Much has been written, recorded, stated over the years, but unlike Kerry in '04, no one in the MSM would touch any of it in '08

His peanut-sized brain can't process more than one idea at a time. First it was "maverick", then it was "experience" then is was William Ayers, then it was "the economy is strong", then it was "fire Chris Cox, etc. etc. Finally, it's "fight". He's simply not intelligent enough to be President, and it seems 59% of Americans realize that on 11/4/2008.

The worst thing about this whole 'Fight for America' slogan is that what they are really saying is fight for the Republican party which means that they are calling the Republican party, America. This is NOT country first - it is seditious and unpatriotic.

Such "F" word John McCain inhered from W. That is what we end up and hang in there the Iraq war with billion dollars a piece military hardware for 6 long years could not stop a ground running Jihad. And, McCain calls it "winning". Outrageously John McCain asks American voters again and again to pay 'Ransom "My friends vote for me...." by his POW card.. McCain considers building up the middle class is an act of Socialism. Capitalism will be a nightmare if the haves and haves-not far far apart. John McCain is lost and ignorance militarily and economically. It is not meant he is completely a bad guy. Also it is not meant he is a presidential quality.

I thought you meant the word "iF"

In Defiance, Ohio, McCain said "IF I am elected..." then hastily said "When" to correct himself.

He was clearly embarassed, blinking his eyes 1,000 times a minute instead of his usual 500

Do you know why most minorities don't vote for John McCain or any republican? He only connects to the white majority. They do not under what other americans are going through.
