McCain was a patriot, but his luster of long ago has been tarnished by his hateful campaign. Yesterday he said "stand up and fight. fight against those who threaten America!" Now, I don't mean to read into things, but given the tenor and tone of his campaign and many of its supporters these past weeks I can't help but feel that many of his supporters do hear this as saying the immanent wave of democratic success today is a 'threat to America'. What a sorry excuse for civic discourse.
