Politico:

CBS's Katie Couric asked Obama in an interview that aired just now about the Pennsylvania Republican Party ad using Wright, and whether he blames McCain for it.

"The McCain campaign has been pretty restrained on that front, and I think they deserve...credit for that," he said.

And he explained the decision not to respond to that and to another that's airing more widely.

John doesn't deserve any credit for restraint. He had no choice, having his own wacky pastor problems...not to mention a few other problems the "moral majority" would not be interested in hearing over and over (and not to likewise mention a few very awful cover up secrets).

There's been a Rev Wright ad running in CO for several days. Haven't heard McCain protesting those ads.

Nope, and wouldn't care if I did. It's just more wingnut garbage.

The fraud in this election was McCain and the polls have shown it. The results tonight will prove it.

If Bill Maher or Jon Stewart tell the truth, they're hero's. If Rev. Wright says it, he's a terrorist. Absurd and deeply racist of a country that "says" we've moved on. BS.
With the exception of the Aids controversy, everything the man's said is correct. And with all the lies and deceptions from this administration, I don't put anything past the damned Government. Even after Barack wins this, you're going to see a massive resistance to move back to the left. Even from so called "Democrats". DINO's need to be purged from Congress and a massive shift needs to take place to compensate for the last 40 years of Liberal backlash. The fight isn't over, folks. It's just beginning!

Word. Imagine if Obama had an affaire with some rich woman and then dumped his handicapped wife to marry her, had a covered up drunk driving accident that involved a death and otherwise had a gambling problem. But John McCain, he's a hero.

I'm sorry, but I highly disagree with your last paragraph. This country needs to stay in the center and accomodate every view. We've gone to the right and it fail, what makes you think that going to the left will be any better.

I give McCain NOTHING! Not credit or my vote!

Over the last 72 hours here in North Carolina we also were treated to the "Hate he can believe in" ad featuring the Rev. Wright. We were obviously foolish to praise Sen. McCain for not "going there" before the fat lady sang. We should have known that that cog in the Republican machine was going to start turning before the polls opened.

I never wanted to have to say this but - Mr. McCain, you stink.

I am on my way to the polls this morning and I don't give Mac credit for being 'nice' about Wright. He had his repub henchman do it - especially in Alabama. There's an ad about Wright every few minutes yesterday and today. Arranged by some republican shills. No credit, Johnny. None at all.

Sweet victory tonight, I pray. I am as nervous as a young girl on her wedding day.

OBAMA/BIDEN all the way in 2008!

I wholeheartedly agree.

Moreover, when there wasn't an ad, the pundits kept bringing it up, complete with video clip and sound bite. Wright was talked about--nationally--all the flippin' time!

It's pretty pathetic to give McCain a pat on the back for...what? Not hinging his campaign on Wright? Who cares? If they had, it would've become old news fast. It had been dealt with already (his primary with Hillary was the real race, let's face it.). And then McCain/Palin would've had to really endure Palin's video of her kookookachu witch-hunt pastor.

Anyway....I voted two weeks ago, but I might have to just go home ASAP--I cannot think about much else today.

Go OBAMA/BIDEN!

If McCain did not overtly endorse this smear, it's because he feared the repercussions not because he's honorable. You can bet your sweet bippy he gave tacit consent. One of those "do it but don't tell me about it" nods to his strategists. Barack is sometimes overly magnanimous.

Fortunately Hillary prepared us.

Realy! Have you noticed how many tactics & dialogues sound exactly like the Hillary campaign? They both use Rove's h.a.t.e. book -- "How to Lose an Election & Trash Your Party"

Just think about how many "Goliath's" this incredible skinny little "David" has slain - SO FAR!

Oh well ... it's just sad.

This blitz of ads only serves to CONTRAST the class of Obama and the desperation of McCain.

It went on and on and on last night, I finally went to bed, all they did was ruin my TV viewing.

It would be hard to imagine even DIE HARD McCain supporters not seeing how desperate and incoherent this Slime Tsunami on TV is.

More undue praise for McCain by Obama, he applauded McCain for going against torture....McCain didn't go against torture, he approved of waterboarding. Obama now gives McCain credict for not using wright. McCain decided not to use wright out of selfish reasons(his own pastor problems), then he allowed the republican party to go ahead with the wright ads in the final days while his Campaign said 'McCain can't referee every ad.' McCain has done nothing but act dishonorably during this election, his lobyist advisors and the Republican Party has had complete control of his shamefully ineffective Campign. Who will run the Country if McCain wins, and how will they run it?

Just curious. Why are they misleading?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:19 AM on 11/04/2008

They are misleading because the content was taken out of context of the greater meaning of his statements. In context, he has every right to condemn America per a statement in the Bible about God damming any nation that does such and such to any peoples of that nation (I paraphrase). America has done such and such, and he was saying "goddamn america" as a response to that.

implies that that criticizing foriegn policy is somehow Un-american
implies Obama in church when statements made
implies wright "hates" america when he has stated to the contrary

misleading on all counts

My daughter lives in Connecticut and I visit her, my son-in-law and grandchildren there many weekends. I was there last weekend and heard a Wright ad all day long on several channels. When I came home to NJ, I heard the same ad. I'm sure they're pushing it all over the country.

Obviously McCain has given them the go-ahead to push this garbage right at the crucial moment, when people go to vote. McCain has demonstrated himself to be what he has been all his life, a stupid, two-bit, know-nothing who got by in his early life based on his father's merit and in his later life based on his wife's money and connections. When dealing with him directly, he's always been wrong -- from when he graduated with a class rank 894th out of 899 at Annapolis, beneath the bottom 1%, to his crashing several planes as a Naval aviator. He voted against MLK Day as a national holiday and didn't apologize for it until it would impact his political aspirations. He got Iraq wrong and is still willing to spend $10 billion per month to bankrupt us and keep us there.

There's no reason to act nice to this unpatriotic guy who selected the most incompetent running mate in history, even though he knows he could die or become incapacitated at any time given his health and his family's health history making her President.

Bulls***!!!!!!

McCain deserves no credit whatsoever!

The airwaves are plastered now with GOP ads on Wright so either McCain had the GOP Trust do his dirty work for him or the GOP Trust did it in spite of McCain which would tell us that he's no leader!

Shame on the GOP!!!!!!

I saw some of the "Return of Rev Wright" ads,
they were paid for by some GOP wingnut group here,
nobody McCain has talked about.

I'm gonna give this one to McCain, but certainly recognize Obama's graciousness about this last minute Rep cheap shot.

Obama seems "gracious" to me, I hope he leads with grace and compassion.

Obama was fine with Wright until the news started coming out about how anti-American he sounded and then Obama disbarred himself from Wright. Whatever makes himself look good.

That's what is going to keep him from directing his justice department to prosecute former members of the executive branch - turn the other cheek, not an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. Wow are those pigs lucky to be saved from rotting in jail by someone's imaginary friend.

I would love to give him credit on Wright, but he opted to attack him over the Bill Ayers thing instead of Wright. It was a political move. He didn't want to be seen as not really having a strategy. So he picked Ayers, something that most people really didn't hear a whole lot about during the Primaries.

We ALL HEARD MORE THAN WE WANTED TO HEAR ABOUT Rev. Wright. He felt like if he pushed Wright he would be beating a dead horse.
