Obama: McCain Deserves "Credit" On Wright

Politico:

CBS's Katie Couric asked Obama in an interview that aired just now about the Pennsylvania Republican Party ad using Wright, and whether he blames McCain for it.

"The McCain campaign has been pretty restrained on that front, and I think they deserve...credit for that," he said.

And he explained the decision not to respond to that and to another that's airing more widely.

It's been running every 15 minutes on both news channels I've watched all freaking night! Good thing I have a DVR or I'd be going nuts.

What cracked me up though is that they wasted their money on Keith Olbermann and Rachel's shows - yeah like any of those viewers are voting McCain.

Judging from the blogs, seems that pathetically desperate Wright ad is airing all over America tonight. And just when Barack has lost his Grandma. How ugly, crude. McCain's "deepest condolences" to the Obamas? Yeah, right. I hope people come out in droves to vote for Barack, and against this sh**.

It's even on here in CA. About every half hour. I keep muting it. I wrote a letter of complaint to the "National Republican Trust PAC" telling them they should be ashamed of themselves. Not that they will pay any attention to my letter, but it made me feel better.

At least these ads will be over tomorrow.

McCain doesn't deserve "credit" for his dirty, dirty campaign tactics.

I realize Obama is a much better person than I am, but -- seriously-- you CAN reach across the aislle too much. These people do NOT deserve any praise at all. JMO.

I agree with you. McCain has not run a respectful campaign. All they seem to do is spew lies, character attacks, and never really say what they would do for the country. Of course, McCain supports this silly ad with Rev.Wright. But, all it does is deepen Barack Obama's support base and stir up the right wing "hypochristians" who were already voting for McCain if they can tear away from listening to John Hagee, Rod Parsely, Pat Robertson, Rush Limbaugh, and Shawn Hannity.

I am glad that Obama stays above it all and conducts himself as the real Christian amid all of the divisive junk. He doesn't need to stoop to their level.

I don't know where they live but even here in Chicago of all places the Wright ad runs. And Reverend Wright has been a part of Chicago's religious community for decades, where anyone could catch his sermons on TV every Sunday Morning for decades. He hardly was controversial. 20 seconds of sentences taken out of 3 or more decades was really digging deep and we know it. Because most of his sermons were no more controversial than any other preacher in America.

Matter of fact one is playing rightg now as I speak.
