Obama: McCain Deserves "Credit" On Wright

CBS's Katie Couric asked Obama in an interview that aired just now about the Pennsylvania Republican Party ad using Wright, and whether he blames McCain for it.

"The McCain campaign has been pretty restrained on that front, and I think they deserve...credit for that," he said.

And he explained the decision not to respond to that and to another that's airing more widely.

They are running it on NBC and MSNBC. Are the networks obligated to accept any and all political ads? Just curious. Also, I saw the wonderful "American Tune" Ad for Obama "once" on the same network. Why, with their surplus of money, would the Obama campaign not run this ad more frequently?

The Obama campaign has the sense not to waste good money on lost causes. There've been about 10 Wright ads on MSNBC in Seattle in the last 3 hours--they might as well be flushing that money down the toilet. At least then it would keep Sam the Plumber in business.

I just saw a GOP attack commercial tonight about the Reverend Wright! Plus..here in Kansas City a Catholic Bishop lead a prayer for his flock to vote their conscious..not for Obama!!! I would gladly have hailed McCain as noble had he suppressed any effort to use the hapless Rev. Wright to his party's benefit, but I suspect it's not coincidence that this ugly ad is running all over the U.S. on the eve of the election-- shame on him. Whether it was funded by "GOPTrust" as stated on the ad or (like Palin's wardrobe) is simply being put out by someone else so McCain can evade the blame, every time it airs, it is a testament to the shameful depths to which the Republicans are willing to sink in their desperate effort to win at all costs. The demonization of Rev. Wright will go down in history as an ugly footnote, the Willie Horton play of the 2008 campaign. How pathetic.
