Palin: Does Obama Think Terrorists Are The Good Guys?

With one day to go until the election's conclusion, Sarah Palin has really ramped up her rhetoric, suggesting during a stop on Monday that Barack Obama thought terrorists were "the good guys."

"What do they think?" she declared at one point. "Do they think the terrorists have all the sudden become the good guys and changed their minds? No, the terrorists still seek to destroy America and her allies and all that it is that we stand for: freedom, tolerance, and equality. The terrorists have not changed their minds."

The comments, delivered to a crowd in Jefferson City, Missouri, are the latest in the slash-and-burn rhetoric from the Alaska Governor. Earlier in her address -- which seemed clearly non-scripted -- she accused Obama of wanting to drastically slash the defense budget during a time of war.

There is a particular poignancy to the terrorism card being played at this juncture. The country's reaction to 9/11 has defined the last three congressional elections. But it was the 2004 presidential contest in which the candidates were judged most scrupulously on their commander-in-chief mettle. Voters have moved on, clearly, from '04. But that doesn't necessarily mean that terrorism isn't a divisive electoral issue. It is just that the discussion is no longer weighed down by simplicity. Accusing Obama of coddling up to terrorists or wanting to slash the defense budget hasn't had its desired affects. In a recent ABC poll, 49 percent of voters said they trusted McCain best to handle the issue of terrorism, only two percentage points more than Obama.

Democrats need to get behind Palin and help her get nominated for 2012.

Obama vs "The Wasilly Hillbilly"

Sweet!

Palin's likeable when she's not spreading hate, and fascinating- look at us still obsessed with her. I get tired, I'd like a little Palin juice, please. Its powerful but not rational- mack-truck energy, blind faith, Todd, fearlessness, and love of Wasilla, Alaska. Let's hope she stays there.

It seems, if you can stand listening to her for more than 5 seconds (which is NOT easy to do!), that Ms. Palin just says whatever comes into (what passes for) her mind. Her remarks are hateful, designed to appeal to the ignorant, and show her to be woefully inept with the truth. Today, we are all very confident that she's going home to lose. Tomorrow, the Repubs try to pick up the pieces of their party out of the rubble and start over. And some may decide (no doubt with some prodding from The Billowing Clown and Rush Limburger) that Ms. Palin should be "the new face of the party."

But any reasonable analysis will tell you that the real power of the Republican Party will not let that happen. Think of it this way -- the power behind the Republican Party never says a word in public. Before Cheney delightedly endorsed McCain, when was the last time he said anything? At all? Was it when he shot someone in the rear end? My point: People like Cheney (if not him, precisely) have the power in the Republican Party. And they all, to a core, will have nothing to do with Sarah Palin. Bank on it: By Thanksgiving the power brokers in her own Party will have savaged her, disowned her, and done everything they can possibly do, to destroy her political future.

And, for once, and only this once, that might be the right thing to do.

Please go back to Alaska, you big ball of hate.

What makes it "hate"? Is it because it is negative towards Obama? Heaven forbid.

It's hate because it's not true and she knows it. The GOP had the chance to talk about issues this election, but took the low road and look where it got them.

Your 15 minutes are up, Sarah! Go home to Alaska and start defrosting the elk meat for your slow cooker, get all gussied up for "your man", and watch the world celebrate that YOU won't be anywhere near the White House.

Go Obama, go! He's GOT to win.

No, they are people who want to cede Alaska from the UNITED STATES of AMERICA.

Instilling fear for political gain is nothing less than terrorism. McCain/Palin have done nothing but instill fear throughout their whole campaign. I hope true patriotic, educated(no thanks to the Republican party!)Americans can see who the true terrorists are.

There will always be a fringe that is so self loathing, so full of disappointment in their own lives, and so cowardly that all they can do is blame anything and anyone else for the world that they themselves have created. Blame the Jews, the blacks, the "liberals", the gays, the tree huggers, the "hippies" (yes, they are so retro, that I"ve even heard them use that term " are the "damn "beatniks" next?). These are what I call the "Lotteryland" people. Unlike the real American"s who have dreams and aspirations, but take the road to their goals with hard work¦ these sad angry men and women have "ambition", but only see it coming from winning the lottery, or waiting for Ed McMahan to knock on their door with that check. They sit back and wait, and stew in their own lazy juice of failure. The Sarah"s of this world can feed on them as Rush does, and O"Reily does, and Michael "Wiener" Savage does. But the glory of today is that in truth these are the fringe. And they will go back to their trailer parks and wait for the next crew of "Cops" to show up so they can have five seconds of fame. Now you know why God hates trailer parks so much. Look who lives in them. If you want a funnier side of Palin"s hate, go to You Tube, and type in: "Sound of Palin" in the search engine.

Explain. Is it because she says negative remarks about Obama?

I watched the 'closing' arguments by McCain and Palin. Don't count this lady out. She was connecting with her audience and they were buying it. No one cared that she was stating misleading, devisive rhertoric from a we-they perspective. The SNL bit that has the Palin 2012 t-shirt is a warning not a joke. 2012 is forecast to be the end of the world as we know it......

So how do we reach out to those that believe what she spews?

McCain took his last day to begin to get specific about what he would do. Too bad that wasn't earlier - we could have explained the flaws in his tinking like we could do with his health care proposal.

We as a people need to vote first, then demand REAL election reform. And the 1st step is to open the door to more parties than just Democrat and Republican. The internet makes it possible to do this. We should enable it.

It is time for us to begin to demand better. Start by ensuring a fair election. Then begin to demand what is possible - open dialogue about issues and concerns, access to voters that is delivered without corporate funding. Let's take back the power of the vote - we only lost it when we stopped using it.
