Romney Can't Say McCain Campaign Is "Dignified"

This morning on NBC's Today Show, host Meredith Vieira asked McCain campaign surrogate Mitt Romney about a new University of Wisconsin analysis, which found that more of McCain's ads have been negative than Obama's in the past week. Romney attempted to defend the McCain campaign. But when Vieira asked him -- three times -- whether he thought McCain was running a "dignified" campaign, Romney refused to agree:

VIEIRA: So, let me ask you, would you characterize John McCain's campaign as dignified and honest?

ROMNEY: Well, what I'd characterize the entire campaign as is extraordinarily negative on the part of Barack Obama. [...]

McCain's campaign, with the assistance of Palin, has been one of the most dishonorable ones in recent history. He deserves to lose.

Surrogate: well the real question is how does Barrack see the... wonders off topic verbal diarrhea ad infinitum...

Seems they cannot answer a question, they are all masters of the non answer and most interviewers do not press the question. When they do, even they give up after 3 attempts.

It would be nice to see...

Reporter to GOP Surrogate:Well ladies and gents it is obvious our (surrogate) does not understand the question or is incapable of an intellectual answer.

Cut the surrogate off and move on.

Do this a few times and they will soon learn to cooperate.

Mitt Romney is an ass. He also ended the interview by saying that he hoped that McCain would pull out a stunning upset (nothing wrong with that) and that Obama and his supporters would have a long, cold night in Chicago (meanspirited and bitter). Poor Meredith was far to gracious to him and just ended it there.

Look, Romney claimed during the GOP primaries that McCain does not have a chance of beating Obama; that he is the better candidate.

Romney's words can never be trusted. He was, after all, the most negative campaigner during the Republican primary, earning the ire of the other GOP candidates, McCain included.

Well, the repubs have made religion an issue, we can just pick up from there. Mormons have no shortage of crazy beliefs and practices.

The base doesn't believe Mormons are Christian, and the Mormons believe they have the one true religion. Someday I think Mormons are going to wake up and realize the danger they put themselves in by getting so cozy with a party that isn't known for their open minds. Mormons still believe in polygamy, btw! They believe there is polygamy in heaven, and that it will be re-instituted some day.

I think it would interesting to see how the Primaries would play out with Sarah and Mitt. What would Fox do? Beck is Mormon so he would be on Romney's team, but can you imagine the mud slingling with Mormon's and Evangelicals duking it out.

t's pretty funny that MITT ROMNEY can't be disingenuous enough to say McCain's campaign has been dignified. Romney's body is made of about 20% water, 30% space alien ooze, 10% combo of ego and hair gel, and 40% insincerity
